snow in the poconos, but we'll see some snow falling later today. katie times it out in her forecast. >> flames and smoke destroy nearly 200 year old cast nel chaddsford overnight. we're liver on the scene with a look at the damage. >> and, the south jersey father, charged in the murder every his three year old son, he'll be in court later on today. >> good morning, it is tuesday, january 12th, i'm erika von tiehl. katie out on the chilly skydeck, meisha in the traffic center checking the roads, and very different scene later today. finally seeing some snowflakes. morning, ladies? yes, about time. right? for many people. i could personally deal without the snow. i'm just be honest, i love it, but a loft people love it so it is coming. but katie from the sound of it it, won't stick around? >> definitely not. one of the classic clipper systems that bridges in reinforcing blast of cold. doesn't have a lot of moisture with it, but it does come along with some of the white stuff. it will be the first time we've seen it so far this season, that's what makes it special, i would say, this time around. but let's start things off by

looking at very empty storm scan3 here at the moment. all it takes is one zoom, however, you can see things starting to ignite back across central, western pennsylvania, this looks a lot worse than it actually is, folks. the actual snowfall intensity, very low, couple of hundreds of an inch, per hour, is what is verifying as, so it is not really strong, or heavy, or something snow, as we like to say, but it is snow, and it is going to be arriving here later today. here's how it feels, more like the 20's, teens, most of you find g temperatures currently in the teens, 20's, so kind of depends where you are, not terribly windy, but it is just enough. and it is cold obviously, no matter how you slice it, but you are going to notice any time that wind blows it makes it feel colderment looking at the hour by hour though moving moving forward in the forecast, lower mid 40's today, so by the time actually watching this clipper system makes its arrival it, bridges with it perhaps few rain showers as well before it turns back over to snow. but again, we are not expect to go see any casino of

substantial snow out of this. we are going to talk more about how much we're actually expecting and track this little system for you here too as the show goes on. meisha, a we send it into you for now. >> those kids will be bummed, i know they want to do those snow angels. >> that's all right. >> happy mourn, good morning, everyone, happy tuesday to you. here is a look at the schuylkill, moving in the eastbound direction at city avenue. just beyond those trees, moving in the westbound direction, and you can see, both directions, westbound, and eastbound, at the schuylkill, city avenue looking little busy. so for those every you headed out into that area, just know progressing through the 6:00 that area will get real busy. southbound heading toward the schuylkill. this is heading toward the camera shot that you just saw. looking actually pretty good. just kind of seeing steady stream of headlights, everyone traveling at posted speeds, delaware county, 95 northbound at 452, looking good, then all the way up to the airport i showed you the airport shot about 15 minutes ago, looking very good there, as well. so moving in both directions in delaware county, looking good, mass transit, chestnut hill west, remember, is running a new weekday

schedule, and there is some construction here on air transportation cents around the market frankford line because of that, these bus routes are detoured, three, five, j, market frankford, owl, detoured eight p.m. to 4:00 a.m. nightly. >> this will go all the way through january 31, erika, back over to you. >> thank you, updating breaking news right now in turkey, government officials say at least ten people are dead after explosion at popular tourist location in istanbul. at least 15 people have also been injured in that blast. investigators are still trying to find a cause, but, state run tv is reporting it may be the work after suicide bomber. we'll continue to follow this story and bring you the latest as soon as we get more information. new this morning, fire guts part of delaware county's history. only the walls are left standing from a 19th century castle. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch joins you now in chaddsford, such a shame about this building, justin, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, we know this fire was brought under control just before 4:00 this morning.

and more than an hour later, almost two hours later, that fire is still smoking. take a look behind us here. the house is standing. but barely. the walls here look to stabilize in some parts, and that smoke is still billowing out, the home appears to be very much gutted. i'm still seeing some embers burn inside as well. let's take you now to video. >> this place called the rocky hill castle. it stands on a hill in the 100 block of bulloch road in chads forwards, now the age and location of this home did post some challenges to fire crews, being up a hill, for one, that made the challenge this. getting water to this fire here in the woods, there are several tanker trucks in rotation on the ground, sending water into a basin, and that water was sent up the hill via hoses. now, firefighters were here on the ground, just before 2:00 a.m., and knocking this fire down just before 4:00 a.m. we do know that this home has been for sale. the asking price is $674,000. and per records, this home dates back to the 19 century,

first built in 1821, and it was later converted to all stone, and about 1912. the current owners bought it back in 1957. and we're look to go sell the home as is, meaning, it very likely needed develop renovations, inside. we do know this home boasted 12 bedrooms, and three bathrooms, back out live here, there are no report of any injuries at this time. and as you see this home still smoldering here, you get sense of what a fight it must have been for firefighters, and the cause of this fire, this morning, at last check, remains under investigation. we are live here in chaddsford, justin finch, cbs-3, "eyewitness news", erika? >> justin, thanks so much. >> meanwhile, father accused of murdering his toddler son has arraignment schedule for this afternoon. dj creato charged with first degree murder in the death of his three year old son, brendan. creato reported him missing from his haddon township home on october 13th.

brendan's body found in cooper river park few hours later. creato's attorney maintains his client as innocence. >> when this first happened, i called it parent's worse nightmare. i thought nothing could be worse. and i think this actually is, to not only lose a son, but now, to be the one accused of killing him. >> autopsy and toxicology reports on brendan creato came back inconclusive. take a look now at this surveillance video, what you are seeing right there in the orange, that's aboud i can among, trying to fight off a robber in south philly. the suspect snatched a fist full of cash from the victim as the munk was during lottery tickets. as you can see from the video, victim and suspect struggled briefly, before the crook took off in a silver mustang. 6:06 right now. we are waking up to some surprising news that philadelphia inquirer, the daily news, and philly.com, they're all changing hands yet again. but there is a twist this time. owner has decided to actually

donate them to a non-profit. our jan carabeo right here now with more on the surprise announcement, waking up, a lot of people said what, a donation? >> surprise surprise erika. good morning. now, first and for most, philly.com says this move won't immediately impact readers or subscribers. so no worries there. owner jerry lindt fist holding press conference to further explaining his decision, he is the owner of the philadelphia media network, which include the philadelphia daily news, inquirer and philly.com. it will help preserve quality journalism in philadelphia. what has done donated the combine inquirer, daily news, he says he will crib $20 million to his newly established endowment. so it is a new organizational structure. will allow the institute to receive donations from individuals, foundations, corporations and other entities, but it isn't all just about funding journalism. the mission again is to

preserve and develop public service journalism, and investigative reporting. so he released this statement, that reads in part: my goal is to ensure that the journalism traditionally provided by the printed newspapers is given new life. of all of the ventures, i've been involved with in my life, nothing is more important than preserving the journalism that's been delivered by these stories news organizations, and he goes ton say the newly created institute will draw the research of university, non-profit, will also support the education of the young journalists, who are coming into an ever-changing field. so some big news here this morning, erika. >> absolutely, curious, if this becomes a trend, because a lot of newspapers across the country can be losing money. >> a financial thing, also about moving newspapers into the future, going more toward on-line, because you know that draws, that free content on line, big draw from the newspapers. >> good to know it won't change right now. jan, thank up. all right, 6:08 right now. new jersey governor chris christie getting ready to give his annual state-of-the-state

address today. this speech will be christy's first since officially becoming a presidential candidate. according to the governor's offers, christy plans to propose new initiatives on education, healthcare, and drug treatment. >> meanwhile governor christie took break from campaigning yesterday, to announce the deal that would expand casino gambling, beyond atlantic city. christy says the measure would guarantee a billion dollar minimum investment in any new casino in north jersey. that bill would also require that new casinos be owned by companies that already own atlantic city casino. the bill needs to be passed by a three/five majority in the new session, that begins later on today. well, law makers in new jersey have also approved a bill to raise the smoking age from 19 to 21. that bill would fine retailers up to thousand dollars if they sell cigarettes or anything else to anyone 20 years old or younger. new jersey would be the second state beyond hawaii to raise the smoking age to 21. the bill now goes to governor christie's desk.

every winter when we start to see the first signs every these, called alberta clippers for a reason. they originate in alberta, canada, they zip down, across the basically the canadian border or south of that, and as they do so, they bring with them reinforcements of colds, they zip through quickly, they sweep southeast, they typically are moisture starved and because that far little amount of moisture let alone the amount of time it takes for them to zip on through here they typically don't bring very much in the way of precipitation. and usually, you'll find snow with them. that's what we're find withing this particular clipper. but it will live up to its reputation in the way of snot bringing us heck of a lot of snow. thankfully, we've got the man-made snow machines that we can actually lead to up a lot of different trails being open at jack frost, big boulder, camelback, at least nine trails open, pretty solid base of 2 feet in a lot of the spots too. so, definitely boding much much better for all of the ski resorts we're so patiently waiting for things to finally turn in their favor with the cold. meanwhile, what's this clipper

have up its sleeve? not a l talking afternoon or nighttime rain or snow shower out of this, guys. which means, you might see tent of an inch of snowfall out of t and because the grounds is still relatively warm, relatively speaking, it won't have chance to stick or accumulate. so, no snow angels can be made out of flurries really, but they will be there. and then we hit tomorrow, that, i feel like, should be the bigger weather headline. frigid day tomorrow. by the time we get the weekend, newcomb flex storm developing. but looks like just rainmaker. so still buying our time in the snow department i would say. >> seems like the trends all winter, we have the systems but all rain maker. >> need the colds to join up with it. >> at least friday looks like it will be nice, right? looks like casino of our -- >> decent day. >> roadways, erika, looking pretty good this morning, roadways nice and dry, no accident to report, we did have some flooding in malvern, i'll get to that in just a second, should be moving out of the way. overall things looking pretty good this morning. so this is look at 95 approaching cottman.

looking good. casino every seeing the whole steady but also slow down just little bit. those of you taking 95 south at cottman this morning, you know the drill by now. in the 6:00 hour, probably a good idea, to start thinking about when you're going to leave home and hop on out there. because it does heat up fairly quickly, but right now casino every holding steady like this, still traveling at posted speeds on 95. southbound boulevard, this, look at this shot, i just think this is just beautiful. southbound boulevard, as you move toward westbound schuylkill, hop on to the schuylkill, and head westbound, looking good. as you can see, boulevard heating up, certainly, and also 95 at the airport, northbound, traffic stopped. disable vehicle causing not too many slow downs, no slow downs, but certainly flashing lights, erika, back to you. >> thank you, ride shaping company uber cutting fare prices in more than 100 cities in the u.s. and canada, unfortunately, though, philadelphia's not one of them. it is a bid to stimulate business, and it tries to beat the winter slump in people ordering rides. in some cities, this is third

treatment for breast cancer, at lankenau medical center, a happy day for diana, she was diagnosed after a routine mammogram, at the age of 47. >> it is a very emotional roller coater -- coaster. >> under the preventive task force, diana would not have gotten an routine mammogram until she was 50. >> i wouldn't be standing here today. >> the task force is continuing to recommend mammograms every other year for women ages 50 to 74. the group says, screening can be effective for women in their 40's, but over diagnosis is a concern. >> the benefits are smaller. the harms need to be carefully viewed. and the task force supports women having this information and making individualized informed choices. >> the recommendations come after the american cancer cancer society said in october that women should now start annual mammograms at age 45. >> i think it is dangerous, and women's lives will be lost to breast cancer. >> doctor maurice a wise, director of asbestos health outreach at lankenau, among

assemble a team. so you will interview a state attorneys, accountants, and financial advisors. now, way back when, when i was an advisor, i actually had a client who won the lottery. she did something so clever when she conducted her interviews she held back the magnitude of the wind fall amount, until late into the meeting. she said that that way she could tell what casino of person she would be dealing with north, do they treat them with respect or just the rich ones. >> great tip there. now if you are the lucky person, should you take the lump sum or those paint for the next 30 years, what do you think? >> it is tempting to control all of the money, win heres take lump sums though they may end up blowing the jackpot doing dumb things. at least with a stream of income you prevent yourself from doing that. if you take a lump sum or chunk every monday toy put to work, the big question whether you should invest all at ones or dribble it out. according to research, two
