plans. >> thanks for. that good morning. happy thursday to you. taking a look outside things have looked really good. far cry from yesterday. here's the schuylkill eastbound, looking good here. both east and westbound and city after new looking g westbound particularly coming up roosevelt boulevard looking nice, moving in the westbound direction at the schuylkill. volume all clear, all opened west and eastbound looking good. still looking relatively white as we move towards our 6:00 o'clock hour. vine for those waiting on that looking great. i-95 taillights moving in the north bound direction, this is right around airport as we have a stop here not causing too many problems moving in the southbound direction. there is not enough traffic to do so. accident roosevelt boulevard southbound, at red lion road, there could be lane blockages there and in that mass transit construction, media elwyn line. because on have that two lines, these two lines media elwyn and chestnut hill east are running special schedules this weekend and next week even, nicole, back over to you.

a week after a gunman ambushes a philadelphia police officer is there a community meeting. >> today fbi director will be in town after announce ago this shooting is under investigation as a possible act of terror. "eyewitness news" report are jan carabao joins us with the very latest on that, good morning. >> reporter: a number of high profile meetings happening today, erika and nicole, good morning. you mentioned. fbi director will be in town later this morning. happening before that here at the police headquarters a big meeting between u.s. senator bob casey as well as police commissioner richard ross who will be discussing the police investigation. take a look at the video, cross town even earlier then that another meeting u.s. senator patrick toomey will be providing an update about the fbi's investigation this all comes after the fbi confirmed it is investigating the the ambush of philadelphia police officer jesse hartnett as a terrorist attack. within week ago now hartnett was severely injured after police say edward archer ambush him and shot him on the

streets of the west philadelphia archer allegedly confessed to shooting the officer in the name of islam. authorities are investigating a tip that archer is part of the larger group operate nothing that area who may pose a threat to other philadelphia officers. fbi director james comby will be in town later this afternoon to meet with a number of local officials. he had this to say recently about that ambush investigation. >> we are investigating that as a terrorist attack and trying to understand as we do in all of these cases what were the the motivations and often it is a tangled web we have to undo, what are the motivations, who directed or inspired the individual, if anyone and who else might have been involved. that is the the work that we do. that is the work we are doing right new in that case. >> reporter: so we are expecting more information on this investigation, later today, also happening tonight a number of local lawmakers are holding an emergency community meeting in the neighborhood where officer hartnett was shot and they

will discuss a number of issues including safety and security measures in that neighborhood as well as mental health issues, that meeting starts at 6:00 o'clock at bryant school on cedar avenue. as far as officer hartnett goes he has a long road to recovery and a number of surgeries. we did check with his father yesterday and he is taking it within day at a time. we will keep you up to date but for now we are live outside police headquarters, jan carabao for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> still thinking about officer hartnett ape his day today recovery. jan, thank you. stay with "eyewitness news" as we stay up to date with the officer's condition and the case against the gun man. follow us on air and on line at cbs philly.com. new this morning two police officers are in stable condition following a violent crash in north philadelphia. it happened, late last night, at b and west moreland streets. police say that the officers in the unmarked car were responding to a report of the shooting at the time of the crash. the the driver in the other car jumped out and then tried

to runaway. he didn't get very far only about four blocks. the that is when other officers caught up to him. police say the 20 year-old man was under the influence of alcohol and had a suspended driver's license. 5:37. in business news, how some companies plan to celebrate valentines day. talking about valentines day already. international events are impacting the asian markets. we know that much. money watch's jill wagner joins us from the the insuring stock exchange with much more on that. jill, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. most asian markets fell this morning after reports of explosions and gunfire in jakarta. they also followed wall street's lead and unfortunately still in trouble here. the the 2016 sell off, continues. dow jones fell 365 points on wednesday, nasdaq dropped 160, it is new what is called correction territory which is a a drop of 10 percent from recent highs. just like last week plunging oil prices and concerns about china's economy sparking the

system. that means heating bills will get through the roof. three on your side consumer reporter jim donovan has easy advice to keep heating costs under control. >> reporter: according to government energy forecast the majority of the country can expect to spend less to heat our homes this winter. many heat with natural gas, those homeowners can expect to save 10 percent over last year, oil customers will shell out about 25 percent less, propane customers should feel at least a 15 percent savings in the north east, and if your home is heated primarily with electricity, you'll see around a 3 percent savings. but that doesn't mean you cannot save more by taking some simple steps. >> easily insulating where you do not have enough insulation, caulking around windows or weather stripping around doors where you see the daylight coming through. >> reporter: ben armstrong says adjusting your thermostat even slightly can have have a significant impact on your bill. >> comfortable temperatures may be 66 degrees during the day, 60 or even lower during night to ensure you are not the using more heat, during the night when you are

coming down wind of lake erie and ontario, more substance to the snow flakes flying there but you might see a few snow showers, flying out there, traveling from the area highways. this is not a major problem. this is more of a side note. we expect to see sunshine sipping out of here before you know it. moisture beginning to blossom down across the gulf of mexico. area low pressure pushing inland and as it does so these two pieces will join up as one. we will see low pressure develop from this batch of moisture in the gulf. when it does that is when we will look ahead to the next storm system. quick check of the tropics. we have a subtropical storm system, guys, it is january, and a storm named alex in the opened waters of the atlantic. no threat to land here in the united states but it is fascinate ago this we have got this. this is only fourth time ever we have had a january tropical storm to report. looking forward in the forecast, rain arriving tomorrow night, but it will warm up nicely in the meantime. meisha. >> all right, katie, thank you so much for that. >> happy thursday to you, we have a disable truck as you can see, schuylkill westbound at montgomery but doesn't look like it will hold you up too
