chopper three is flying through hazy skies over philadelphia, this morning. that was not as cold out there, some good news but changes are in the air. we're tracking the arrival have rain coming up, and some of have that rain could be heavy at times. good afternoon i'm erika von tiehl. i want to check with katie fehlinger outside on the die deck. katie, i will embrace the the 50's. i know we have rain too. >> absolutely always that

trade off that tend to come with mother nature but there is still some sun shining through these clouds that are beginning to thicken up, a sign of things to come. we have a warm front lifting in and in the name warm front, warm air and temperatures that have a chance to spike, very nicely. let start off with a check of storm scan three which at the local level is still nice, quiet. but things are brewing, off to our south in the form of the much larger system which as we zoom out one more time there it is, this is really starting to show nice organization. that storm clearly bringing nothing but plane rain but heavier rainfall intensity within it and it is all heading our way. it looks like it primarily gets here by tonight, i would give you the window have of eight or 9:00 p.m. building from south to north up until about midnight for everybody to start to see the the wet weather. some of this rain as we saw, evidence on storm scan will be heavier at time and leave behind as much as three-quarters of an inch across our area. a as we look forward at area temperatures here already at 50 degrees here at the airport and i can tell you i'm the one

that is the cold person in the room. i'm always freezing. it feels comfortable outside right now. not bad at all. for mid-january, we will take it, and as we look forward in the area forecast here, we are watching rains build in but weekend does not look bad at all. here's a sneak peak here. we're above average tomorrow, although temperatures do start to plunge, come sunday, and that is just the beginning, of the temperatures going on, downhill spiral. so we will talk about that more as the show goes on, erika. >> thanks very much. vice-president joe biden is heading to philadelphia later this afternoon. he is launching an effort to find a cure for cancer. he will kick off that initiative at the university of pennsylvania's abramson cancer center. mission. the vice-president, lost his own son, 46 year-old beau biden, to brain cancer last may but today the vice-president says that science is ready and doctors at the university of pennsylvania's abramson cancer center would agree. >> we're going to recognize at this time, when we look back, a area and time when things change. our expectations treating cancer from treating to it curing it. >> reporter: biden kicks off initiative with the round table discussion. he has met with 200 of the world's top cancer physicians and researchers. >> we have develop drugs, and here, and many other places across the the country that are beginning to show the way how we can accurate immune system in a safe way and very powerful way, a achieving what appears to be cures in some patients. >> reporter: biden wants to double rate of progress. he wants to make a decade's worth of advanceness five years. to do that the vice-president says he plans to increase

around 7:30 this morning. police say that the seven three-year old female resident was trapped underneath the car for 20 minutes before rescue crews could free her. she was rush to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. the 60 year-old driver suffered minor injuries, police cited her for reckless driving. now to chopper three over another serious crash, check this one out, it is in northeast philadelphia a it happened just after 10:00 on the southbound, roosevelt boulevard, at tyson avenue. two reek also collided near intersection causing one of them to flip on to its roof. that driver, was rushed to the hospital in an unknown condition, and the the cause of the crash is still under investigation. four people, including two children are injured after a fire rips through a section of the row home in burlington city, new jersey. twenty residents are also now displaced after several hems were damaged and two alarm fire. you can see the the heavy flames and smoke there from earlier this morning on the 300 block of st. mary street. the fire took crews about two

hours to contain, no word yet on the cause. a tennessee couple has finally come forward claiming they are one of the three winners of that record breaking power ball jackpot. john and lisa robinson went on national television this morning, and they showed us the ticket matching all numbers from wednesday's $1.6 billion drawing. the the the couple bought that ticket at macy's, a store near their house. they will reach out to state lottery officials later on today but first they took at vice of their attorney to go on national tv, put their faces out there and say it is our ticket. rough start to 2016 continues on wall street, stocks started the day down sharply because of plunging oil prices and discouraging economic news. the right now dow jones is down 425 points. we will have closing numbers for you today at 5:00. developing right now, active search is underway for 12 passengers on marine helicopters that collided in hawaii. crash happened late last night off the coast of hawaii.

sean penn gets candid about his interview with notorious drug lord joachim el chapo guzman. meeting mexican authorities say helped lead to guzman's recapture. actor sat down with cbs anchor charlie rose in sunday's addition of 60 minutes. correspondent kenneth craig has a preview. >> there is this myth, about the visit that we made. >> reporter: sean penn tells 60 minutes charlie rose that he does not believe his october interview with joachim el chapo guzman led to the the drug lord's capture last week. >> as far as you know you had nothing to do and your visit had nothing to do with his capture or recapture. >> the mexican government, they were clearly very humiliated by the notion that someone found him before they did. well, nobody found him before they did. we're not smarter than the dea

well, it just has to be one of the worst pranks you have heard of here. son calls his mom telling her that she won the $1.6 billion power ball jackpot, but was lying though. her work place, nursing home erupted in a big celebration that they got on video there. the son texted her a photo of what he said was the winning ticket. he admitted, even worse, he waited until she got home and saying i was just joking we didn't really win. as you can imagine, she was very, very upset, and we are quite sure that he will be ground are for remainder of the year and get cole next christmas. >> how old is he, you know in, what world is that okay. i'm not saying it is excusable the at all but ahh.
