parkway but we will start with meet the role goodies kate bilo on the cbs-3 sky deck, kate. >> it is a bitter wind chill night out here guys. it feels colder then thermometer would have you believe. throw on an extra lane, kick heat up, and throw an extra blanket on the bed tonight. cold start to tomorrow morning as well for those kid heading to the bus stop, you may want to drive them there tomorrow morning. we are in the grips of the third cold snap of winter. we had three well below average days so far this january. this is the the third one. you can see storm scan three. net is where snow band are lining up over new york state. that is where wind is coming from. it is northwest wind and we are feeling it here tonight making the cold feel so much more worse. a few flakes possible here in philadelphia but it is wind and the chill that we're talking about. only 22 degrees right now in the city. is 11 in mount pocono. twenty in wilmington. eighteen in reading. that is only half of the story look at these wind chills. it feels like five below in the poconos right now.

half inch. now we are dealing with the arctic blast that sits around for another 24 hours. again problem is the wind. this is what it will feel like tomorrow morning. lucky today maybe the the day off from work, school, back to reality tomorrow. the dress warm. up in the poconos we could feel as cold as minus ten when you factor in the wind in the lehigh valley below zero at times even around the city could get to around zero when you factor in the win. the not much better in south jersey and delaware with wind chills down in the single digits or close to it as well. so back here again with the cbs-3 mobile weather lab, we will check it out in the city. we have 22.3 degrees. that is current air temperature, again, these wind kicking up good feeling like single digits. arctic air moves out. but it stays cold this week. that is going to be the the issue with this next storm. all season long we have not had cold air. it will stick around. here's one model forecast that energizees storm off shore and runs in the cold air. that is why we are talking about that snow potential and days away, so there will be a a lot of changes in the forecast.

"eyewitness news" reporter greg argos is live in bridgeton with more tonight, greg. >> reporter: the weather did play a big part in fighting this fire, detrimental part in fact, those heavy wind, high wind and it took fire fighters two hours to put out the flames here. the the tavern is a total loss. many in this community tonight here very upset. hill crest tavern stood on this very corner for more than

230 years. now piece of american history is a pile of ruble. >> i was the chef here for 15 years and just left three years ago. >> reporter: lucas mccormack like so many others that kind, drink and work at hill crest tavern stopped by downtown bridgeton new jersey bar monday to snap pictures of what once was. >> this was kind of job that was my home away from home. it is where, it is wherever one came. >> reporter: tavern was built in the 1782 and served as a popular stage coach stop and watering hell for many heading toward cape may and kings highway which we new know at broad street. >> we got first call 5:00 a.m. monday morning. three alarm fire wiped that history away. >> it went to a second alarm and went to the operations. >> it is a piece of bridgeton history for the. >> reporter: for a few years robert wayne owned it. >> if you go up into the the building itself, there is no nails, it is all pegged. the old way of doing it.

fire company the fire started 6:30 on jenkintown road and west avenue. in word on a cause but no injuries were reported. the suspect in the deadly shooting in a north philadelphia home less shelter is now in police custody. three two-year old john brook turned himself in within the last hour, and is currently being interviewed by homicide detectives. police say brook snuck into the shelter early sunday morning after being banned from entering, he then according to police shot and killed one employee and critically injured another. police say brook targeted those one employees after they escorted him out the previous day. >> he actually asked someone else are those two employees working. so he wanted to necessity where they were working. he walked in the facility, as soon as he walks in their station is as soon as you walk to the left, he turns and attempts to execute both of them as soon as he walks in. brook is facing murder and attempted murder charges. new developments tonight, surrounding some human remains

found in ridley creek state park new years day. police hope three rings may lead to help in identifying the victim. we are told she's a female and her teens or late 20's. the rings were recovered from inside the clothing of the female and all of this are unique. if you can identify one of the rings or any of them, you're asked to contact the the pennsylvania state police. the spirit was all about giving back in our region to honor legacy and life of doctor martin luther king, junior. new jersey reporter cleve bryan tells you local college students volunteered to make the world a better place for people and animals. >> reporter: service came in many forms at stockton university this martin luther king day. in one room volunteers tout free cpr classes, in another they wrote letters for am necessary stay international for people unguessly imprisoned around the globe this room was exceptionally hand on. here students assemble prosthetic hand for non-profit

infections but they are prescribed all the time. that has created a problem of antibiotic resist tense. these new recommendations out today are reminding doctors and patients about the dangers. >> just congested at all. >> a little bit. >> mckenzie myers has a sore throat and cough. >> persisted for five daisy decided to stop it and just, make sure that it wasn't strip. >> reporter: her doctored determined it was not strip throat a bacteria infection. >> say ahh. >> reporter: but more likely a virus which is not treated with antibiotics. >> viral infections don't respond to antibiotics. because antibiotics, are targeted specifically at bacteria. >> reporter: doctor harry fairmount is an infectious disease specialist at cooper university hospital. >> so if you take an antibiotic for a viral infection it will not help you. >> reporter: in issuing new warnings about over use the american college of physicians, together with the cdc warned that 50 percent of antibiotic prescriptions for respiratory illnesses may be, unnecessary. >> the goal, of this is to

prevent antibiotics over use, which would cause antibiotic resist tense which is literally killing people in this country. >> reporter: if doctors know there is this problem with antibiotic resist tense why do they keep prescribing so many antibiotics. >> because patients expect them, not that antibiotics get rid of their symptoms but people believe that they are going to get better with an antibiotic. >> reporter: instead of the antibiotics, mckenzie was told rest would be more helpful. >> when i am fix my body will be able to fight it off and antibiotics will be able to help. >> reporter: through go. new recommendations include prescribing antibiotics, only when strep throat is concerned. for sinus infection that is last more than ten days or severe symptoms last three days or more. doctors say antibiotics can have serious side effects like allergic reactions an upset stomach. for people with heart issues they can especially dangerous. i know you want to get over a cold but an antibiotic will

if you do a math, somebody up and down the east coast could get over a foot of snow, possibly more than that but it is still, very, very early. we are target ago this much here in philadelphia just not responsible to talk amounts this far out. the storm has not even made land fall in california. we have to see what it will do. but it does look more and more likely a large part of heavy snow will impact part of the east coast. we will start with what is happening outside we will get down the the shore where boardwalk is empty because it is frigid outside. it feels like 7 degrees down the the shore. not going to get much better overnight. this is ocean city boardwalk looking decidedly less crowded then it did in maybe six months ago at this time in mid-july, beautiful. now it is cold outside. all of the shops are shuttered but it is quiet for the moment. shore could have greater impacts if it pans out the way it looks a as though it might we could talk about coastal flooding and strong gusty wind battering the shorelines. storm scan three does show lake effect snow in new york

state. a few flakes cannot be ruled out here in philadelphia big story is temperature, 22 right new in the city, and 11 in mount pocono and 22 in million willville. waking up tomorrow morning it will feel close to zero, here's what it feels like at 8:00 a.m. minus one in allentown. ten below, eight below by 8:00 d zero in philadelphia a computer is taking its time catching up with me here. going too fast. by the afternoon still only feeling like the the teens, maybe around 11 degrees at 7:00. even though our high is near freezing, it will feel colder than that thanks to a strong gusty win from the north and west. reason why we have that is the strong pressure gradient. storms to the north high pressure to the south. wind come through this tunnel so to speak. they accelerate when we have a set up like this things are quiet for your tuesday and into wednesday this little clipper system off to to the south late wednesday night, could deliver a few snow showers, main a few flurries overnight wednesday night. then focus shifts to our next system. this is the european model,
