schools. all of those closings are at the bottom of the screen and on cbs philly. com we have live team coverage for you of the lingering mess and the clean up from that storm, however, we want to get to katie inside and she has the forecast. we have the whole team covering it for us. katie, good snow day? what do you think? >> absolutely, unless unfortunately you have one of those folks who hasn't been dugout yet, waiting to go anywhere, but had a lot of real estate covered by this very large, call it, monsterous storm system that came through here. so we know the crews are trying their best. but in the meantime, i know you are starting to go a little stir crazy, getting little cabin fever. we understand. that said we will start to see temperatures moderating up, pretty nicely today. you can see how the clouds are starting to lift, in moving in from west to east, courtesy of new disturbance starting to head our way. little pink starting to show up as well indicating very light either freezing rain and/or sleet up and down portions of say the allegheny's and in toward the state college for example, out toward williamsport next, and along i80.

if that's where your travels take you it, could be extra slippery. by the time this reaches us, it looks close by it, will take its time. until we get this here, we will see easily enter into the afternoon time frame. so that means temperatures will have had a chance to moderate up, you will see more than anything just couple of rain showers. not huge deal thankfully. but here's where we stand right now. 25 degrees currently at the airport, in the teen, through reading, allentown, out toward trenton 23 degrees. also, in some of the more remote suburbs actually flirting with single digit territories, definately cold, clearly since below freezing you have to worry about the refreeze, and anything that had a chance to melt having since just turned to little slick of ice. so, through the course of the day, expect at least that where temperatures will be monitoring up nicely, mid 40's is the expectation, building clouds, not heck of a lot of sunshine, that said i would actually say could you get away without an umbrella don't be shock if you have to flick the windshield wipers a handful every times if you are out and about today. just rain showers, i don't think we have to worry about

icing this time. >> i actually ran out of windshield wiper fluid yesterday. i needed it because the cars in front of me are kicking all that up. >> hot come odd tip. >> don't do what i did, just what i say. trust me. vine to 95 looking good. seeing headlights and tail light start to pop out there this morning. i will say that today will probably be busier than it was yesterday. a lot of kids were off school yesterday. they are today, as well. but a lot of people that maybe took the day off yesterday will have to get back to work today. so just be mindful of that. it might take you couple of more minutes to get to work today. i will say with that end, there is still slick spots out there. i'll keep saying that all morning long. snow removal, 202 northbound, right lane block, as you can see, and also, here is a look at the westbound schuylkill at city avenue. you can see, plenty of snow still out there, even though a lot of it melted yesterday with the sun up. we just got so much snow that it is still certainly out there still, even now. construction, snow removal, northeast extension, southbound from lansdale to the turnpike, right lane is still block right now. ill of course let you know when that lift.

and in the world of mass transit, it is just safe toast say make sure to check your schedules on line. septa regional rails is running back to normal. you might be able to expect some delays in certain areas. septa buses mostly restored, new jersey trans sit still cross honoring, patco speed line, amtrak, all good. dart running with some exceptions. so erika, check your schedules on line. i will keep saying that to you, everyone else at home all morning long. >> good reminder, thanks, meisha a spring just cannot come soon enough. many streets in philadelphia look like that, still covered in snow. and a number of residents are really fed up with the city's effort. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch joins us now in northeast fill toy show us what it feels like there, justin, good morning. >> good morning, we have moved on here mayfair elementary school. the good news is that if school opens tomorrow, student will finds the sidewalks are mostly clear here. that's the good part. however, you look over, into the street here, and you are seeing the mess here. we have lots of snow that is now packed here, on hawthorn

street, and when you walk on it you will get a sense of what's underneath here. it feels like layers and layers of ice. so a treacherous drive for buses and cars. also, a dangerous walk for pedestrians. these are the streets that the city will be hitting over the next several hours and days. trying to get the secondary anter shower streets cleared away for traffic, as you can see, for residents, they are parking their cars between mounds of snow, some having already dug themselves out. chairs are out here to save spot. that's not the policy here, but you understanded given the work it takes to dig yourself out of, you know, several inches of snow, now packed into ice formations, on these blocks here. we have seen cars try to brave these conditions. even for us, it was a tough drive to get around back here. if you are on these streets, do you want to be careful. the city has plowed a lot of these street here. but these street, the neighborhood street, are now a concern for today and for tomorrow, as we look at school

perhaps re-opening tomorrow, if you have a street that is a concern, you are urged to call 311, that is a city line. they will take your call and complain and get to work, also, you can reach them on line at philly 311 on social media at twitter and facebook. they are also taking requests there. but as you can see, looking around this snow, now, hardened into ice, much more difficult dig, and plow, the crews are working, we've seen them over thereon frankford avenue doing the same. moving that snow into trucks to carry off. but for all of us not working, those vehicles, the plows, and the trucks, we have to be patient. they are working on it, it was a pretty big snowfall. we understand it will take time to dig out. live here in mayfair, justin finch, cbs-3, "eyewitness news", erika, back over to you. >> justin, big thanks to all of the crews out there helping to dig us out, justin, thanks. our team coverage continues right now in south philadelphia. have a snow plow out there, good morning. >> good morning, making our way to south philly today, main roads looking pretty darn good. some of the side street not too bad either. then you turn ton a street like watkins street, you are confronted when this, wall of snow, just here at this drift, near this car, the drift comes up to about my shin. but if you take a look down the street, that's no pile -- that snow pile about hip deep tonight make matters worse it does kinds of look like some of the folks here might have cleared their sidewalk, scooped the snow and thrown it into the middle of the street. these cars are most certainly trapped. whole block is stretched dollars waiting and hoping today that a plow comes through at some point soon. now, "eyewitness news" found many streets here in south philly in the same condition. it is now day three of clean-up. and while road crews were working hard, folks hearsay they aren't moving fast enough. resident of did he if he street got so fed up, they went allowed and hired a plow for $600 to dig them out. the mayor says he understands all of the frustration, but

asking for patience, and because of the on-going clean up, the ppa will not enforce parking meters or key ross violations again today, so a bit of a break there. but the ppa will still ticket you, if you park in front of those hydrant, bus zones, handicap spots, or break other safety rules. still, for people trapped, relief can't come soon enough. >> the city always forgets about us, the way it has always been in south phillyment can't go to work, nothing, can't go anywhere. >> streets are terrible. even walking today to a doctor's appointment, the streets are terrible. >> it is important to you, and if you're not out yet, you're frustrated and i recognize that, but we have to go through this in a methodical way to make sure the city gets back to work as soon as possible. >> and, take a look at this. the city has been using front end load tears move mounds every snow to five different locations located across the city of philadelphia. you're taking a live look this morning, at that location at broad and washington.

storm. >> christie: there has been one county that's flooded in the state, one county, that was cape may county. the one count that i flood. so i don't nope where from all over the state since we have 21 counties where that's happened. second, i don't know what you expect me to do. do you want me to go down there with a mop? >> the mayor of north wildwood react today christie's comment. mayor patrick took to facebook to express his disappointment with christie's lack of concern and respect he says of people of cape may county. >> well, if you are commuting by public transportation, this morning, meisha has been telling us all morning, check the status of your train, your trolley, before you head out the door. septa is rolling again, but several regional rail cars are canceled or limited due to simply manpower issues. most bus route are back on track, though many of them are working with detours. the broad street and market frankford lines, they're running close to schedule. septa does warn there could be parking issues, so as some of the stations from piles of

snow. >> amtrak meanwhile, also running on modified schedule this morning, due to storm conditions. officials say service between new york and washington should be fully restored by later on today. travelers are urged to check their train status once again on the amtrak website. >> 5:10. congressman chaka fattah may need a new lawyer because his current legal team wants to quit. the lawyers will ask a judge today to let them offer the the case since fattah can't afford to pay them. democratic lawmaker facing federal racketeering charges, he says he's already spent about $300,000 on the case. fattah running for re-election, he is set to go on trial in may. >> still ahead this morning, a police officer is nearly killed in a freak accident. now he's talking about how he survived getting hit by a tractor-trailer. incredible. also, not clearing the snow, we all know it can get in you trouble, right? but do you have hear why a delaware county man is now facing charges for using his snow blower after the storm.

>> it is like a blinding snowstorm. >> a blinding spray of snow, from snow blower like this one, police say, that forced an ambulance, answering an emergency call, into a snow bank on timberlake road during the storm saturday night. now, the man allegedly

operating that snow blower, joseph ross, is facing charges. >> the snow coming out of the snow blower hits the front windshield blinding the driver. the driver then crashes into a snow bank. >> with the rig wedged in a snow bank, the two-person crew, chitwood crew says managed to extricate themselves, walking to the patients who had called 911 to report bleeding, a second ambulance, the only one remaining in the entire township, then had to be called to transport the patient. first ambulance eventually dugout of the snow after two hours. >> he continued to blow snow on the vehicle. even after he saw it crashed, stuck, and the second vehicle coming. >> just clearing the path, you know, with the snow blower. noggin tension al was done. >> joseph ross, the operator of the snow blower, told me he thinks the incident is being blown way out of proportion. >> this big after deal, i don't think so, too many other

things going on in the world to be worried about somebody shoveling some snow somewhere. >> and ross charged with obstructing emergency services, misdemeanor, and violating the township snow removal ordinance, insists he did nothing wrong. >> first of all it, wasn't done purposely, and if i can't clear the walkway, where am i supposed to put the snow? >> with the district attorney approving the arrest warrant, mr. ross, according to police, is expected to turn himself in here in upper darby police headquarters, within the next 24 hours. at upper darby police headquarters, walt hunter, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> well, while many of us are busy clearing snow, doctors and nurses at the hospital of the university of pennsylvania, they had their hands full with a baby boom. the maternity ward was just packed at the hospital. they delivered 44 babies over the weekends. that's a record number of births for the hospital. to gave you a idea of just how busy they were,ment hospital normally handles about ten births a day. so the question is, what is behind the baby boom?

storm scan3, show you what's up here. we do have very minor disturbance, central low pressure of this one well off across canada, dragging little piece of energy through our area, and at this point, because it is colder, across central pennsylvania, sun's obviously not up yet, you are finding some rain, rather, i should say freezing rain and/or sleet falling down that way say through happy valley, along i80. once this reaches us, perhaps the poconos, end up maybe with a little bit of icing out there. but i don't think the rest of us have to worry about it, it really come in bit later today. bring with it just few rain showers. this is a much larger system though. you zoom it out. you may have been hearing the rumors of this potential for a big storm system by the tail ends of the week. what's going to happen there is front will cross through, area of low pressure will develop along its tail ends, and that's what rides up the coast. but at this point it, doesn't look like it will meet up quickly enough, with any kind of cold air to actually bring us anything substantial, i think will go out to sea at this point. i'll let you know if that

forge road, that right lane is still compromised because of that. not causing too many slow downs. you can see, everyone still being able to get by okay. just make note of it. it is still little slick out there. it will be all morning long, as everything that melted yesterday has now refroze end back out of the roadways,. >> not too fun to deal with, but we're used to it at this point. here is a look add brought at spring garden, both ways broad street looking nice, i'm taking peak at this yesterday we saw just a ton of snow out there. now, a lot of it has melted. but we are still seeing that sheen on the roadways letting us know it certainly can still be slick in a lot of areas. now, this is the boulevard, taillights moving in the southbound direction, at wissahickon avenue. looking pretty good here, i'm going to keep my eye on this area too. yesterday i was looking at this, it was not bad at all. simply because a loft kids were off school a lot of people took the day off of work. we might see a similar story today. a lot of schools still closed today. but a lot of people can't take a second day off. we might see it heat up. i'll keep my eye on it, let you know what happens.
