left behind by saturday's storm. hopefully a gradual melt. lets get a first look at the forecast with meteorologist kate the bilo outside on the sky deck, kate. >> we have a few light rain drops falling and it may ease up in the past five minutes but a few light showers moving through the area and our snow pack the on the sky deck was at 18 inches, on saturday night, now down to about four or five, so a lot of melting has been happening, luckily it is not a super quick melt that will refreeze overnight and next few days are a little bit cooler then to day it should continue to be a gradual melt through rest of the week not looking for a major flood threat but everything out there that melts cannery freeze, at night. take a look the at showers we're talking about a cold front slicing right through eastern part of the country, heaviest rain is well off to the south, and showers here are generally few and far between, they are light, they are kind of negligible but as you can see in portions of bucks county, montgomery county, we have showers and a few light rain drops falling in the city at the moment this will continue overnight,

7:00 o'clock a stray shower here and there think it is over and another round around 10:00 p.m. we will track a couple stray showers and at 11:00 and overnight we will start to clear things out, wye 5:00 a.m. still the the chance for a shower off to the south and east as the the front moves through all that quickly but tomorrow, morning cloud, breaking for afternoon sun and things looking better, so again what to expect overnight, a stray shower, we will see freezing in the city but watch for patchy ice on elevated surfaces and especially to our far north and west where temperatures will be below freezing. wednesday morning cloud will break for afternoon sunshine temperatures near 40 degrees. the that is seasonal for this time of the year, we could be talking with even warmer weather as we head toward the the weekend. i will that have forecast coming up when i join you inside, for now back over to you. >> very interesting, kate, thanks very much. new york city is slowly recovering from the weekend storm, front end loaders worked to clear roadways in queens, that area was hardest hit. authorities say that there were at least five snow-related deaths, three in queens, one in staton island and another in brooklyn.

serious mental health issues. buying a ticket in the middle of busy suburban station at 6:00 a.m. a septa rider attacked from behind without warning, beaten over the the head with a plumbing wrench. >> this was a random attack. >> reporter: suspect 38 year-old jeremy wilson, police say arrested minutes later a short distance away as the victim a 58 year-old northeast philadelphia man, was rushed to the hospital with serious head injuries. >> i always felt very safe, being here but i just stick to the morning, that is the the crazy thing, yeah. it the is scary. scary. >> reporter: court record revealed wilson arrested for theft, terroristic threats and other crimes, just nine days ago. >> this person may very well have some mental health issues, and there is no way of telling which you look at a person, whether they are struggling with a mental health issue that is going to turn into a violent act. >> reporter: septa's police chief and riders both agree in the wake of the attack it is

some built for their backyard probably not fit for everybody. >> i hear you we are watching mild temperatures and gradual melt. >> today was a mild day, next couple days will be a little closer to normal. above average or above freezing at least and that means snow will progressively melt. we will not hit 70 in one day and all this will move out. we have a great question from penny, a viewer and e mailed me how much water is contained in 32 inches of snow. rule of thumb is ten to one. 32 inches of snow will translate to 3 inches of water. if you got 30 inches you will have 3 inches of water seeping into your ground there. so definitely if you have flooding issues make sure pumps are in good working order. it may be slow melt but you have a a lot of water heading your way once the the snow pack does erode. lets look outside, we will take you to a couple spots on our live neighborhood network. beach patrol headquarters cam in margate showing everything quiet. the not a great day for a walk on the beach but you know, it is not raining there right now. you can get outside, enjoy

maybe taking a look what is going on in the aftermath of the weekend storm. we have seen nasty pictures of beach erosion, specifically in stone harbor where beaches look like, coastal flooding and that issue is continuing in wildwood. quiet night there tonight. should stay quiet for rest of the week. the cuts down has heaviest snow out of the storm, 37 degrees, snow is beginning to melt but you very thick snow pack there and nice shot of the sky line here in the background from the palmyra cove nature park, 46 degrees at the moment. everything is recovering. now we are left with these dirty snow mountains, slushy, great gray, and dirty and clean up sadly continues down the shore. is the ill dealing with the a after effects of that storm even though we are four days out. storm scan three does show showers moving through. they are very light, sparse. one batch north of trenton into portions of bucks county, another batch moving in lancaster county and these will keep coming through the overnight hours light showers here and there throughout the overnight but temperatures are well above freezing, at

crews are on the scene trying to figure out just what happened. pennsylvania congressman chaka fattah is soon looking for a new defense team to represent him in his upcoming corruption trial. today attorneys for the congressman told the judge, that they want off the case because fattah is not keeping up with his legal bills. the the judge expressed concern that fattah has prioritized raising money for his reelection over his legal issues. judge promised to make a decision and make it real soon. as manhunt continues for the three escaped prisoners in california, we're learning more about the men's violent background. one official says quote they let hanibul lechter out. beyond than tu is facing murder charges other was being held on attempted charges and hussein nair is accused of kidnapping and for to tour. two of the men are linked to gangs and the community is on edge, the authorities say, these men could be hiding out nearby. >> this extremely important them to reach out to us, and let us necessity where they are at because they are armed and dangerous. >> these people are that bad.

not quite as warm as today, you can see we're at 48 after a high of 50. fifty-three in wildwood. fifty in millville. cooler with the heavier snow pack in the lehigh valley and berks county where temperatures are at 40 at the moment. our janice pretty close to what a normal january feels like, we're a half a degree above average. the close to normal. today is first a above average day in quite sometime, you can see we have one back on the 17th and below normal right through weekend and of course in the start of this week so things are on the upswing as we head toward weekend. future weather does show this front pushing through couple showers here and there tonight. that moves off the coast. earlier this week we were talking about a potential form forming off the coast of the carolinas. it will still happen but you can see this advancing trough to the north will push that out to sea and it is a none issue for us, well off the coast heading in to friday we may pick up a stray flurry as that swings through but it should stay to the north, as of right new we have kept friday dry and that is in the

a concern, it is out to sea, no big deal. we will be monitoring temperatures. little dip in the jet stream meaning it is chilly heading in the week. saturday and sunday we will tap in mild air to the south and west. temperatures wise. you can see period between february 2nd and february 8th, to be much above average, once again, for the northeast region. we have warmer weather on the way heading in to february. cloudy skies a few showers, 33 t low. for your wednesday cloud in the morning, breaking for afternoon sun from west to east it is a cooler day with a high of 40. pretty seasonal for this time of the year. heading in to thursday, sunshine, 38 degrees, same story friday and here comes our warm up, 42 saturday. forty-six on sunday. we will keep it in the mid to upper 40's early next week. that is more than 5 degrees above average, feeling good as we head toward groundhog day on tuesday and we will see

lot more moisture witt further south you go. heavy rain into the the deep south tonight, showers a little bit more spotty heading up into virginia and for our area showers around but few and far between this evening but not a lot of moisture to work w as we zoom in a few spotty showers heading toward the city, into chester county, montgomery couldn't i and if you are going out flip the windshield wipers a couple times tonight. as these showers continue north and west, cannot rule out snow flakes mix nothing but no accumulation anticipated tonight. they are mainly off to the south and east for remainder of the evening where it is warm enough where this is all rain. overnight that moisture continues to stream from the south. we have a few showers around 11:00 mainly down the shore and into the overnight hours, two or 3:00 a.m., notice a little bit of snow around d.c. snow shower cannot be ruled out. mostly talking about rain tonight and then it clears out by tomorrow morning, sun comes back, and it will be colder, no
