♪ from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia this is cbs3 "eyewitness news". right now at noon, a local teenager is in police custody and accused of making online threats. social media post claimed she would far get a specific group of students at chester area schools. good afternoon i'm erika von tiehl. that student says she was only playing around but the post had the chester community on edge. students reporter to school this morning. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch has the details.

>> reporter: chester high students returned to class wednesday morning still talking about the online threat that almost side lined school today. was there any part of you that felt today you'd be unnave school. >> no. >> reporter: perhaps safer now than a 70-year-old female chester high student is in police custody for the post that circulated on social media tuesday night. including photo sharing sites instagram. sources say the african-american teen confessed to make the threats at a friend's sleepover federal investigators say tracked her computer ip address to chester home and made the arrest. >> i kept seeing the stuff when the page was private i knew it was fake. >> reporter: what bother you the most? >> the faces on there and stuff. god me scared. >> reporter: the message replete with emojis of guns, horn faces and casket and 95 threatened shootings at chester upland schools. chester community charter and chichester high and concluded with the phrase, all blacks must die! >> i knew they was going to

arresarrested because you're sud to play with stuff like that. >> reporter: fbi teamed with chester police and nearby law enforcement agencies to the relief of students and parents. >> they shouldn't be posting things like that. because things like this. >> reporter: as authorities tracked down the source of that threat, school officials at chester upland, chi coaster and chester community charter were weighing whether or not to shut down school today. with the polar of the prank now in custody students expect calm on campus. >> people take it serious just like i did. i feel as though it wasn't funny at all. >> reporter: justin finch cbs3 "eyewitness news". the high school basketball coach who head but add referee has been dismissed from his duties. neshaminy jerry devine was filmed earlier this month apparently hitting the official during a game. he was originally suspended from coaching though he was allowed to continue his teaching job at the school. last night, though, the school board voted to officially remove him as head coach. he will keep his teaching job, though. he's also charged with

harassment which could send him to jail for 99 days if convict the. snow from this weekend's storm causes a partial roof collapse in philadelphia's frankford neighborhood. crews responded to the 1900 block of just before 11:00 o'clock last night. the home awning caved under the weight of that snow damaging the roof. we're told there was no affect on the home's structural integrity. fortunately nobody was hurt. this stretch of weather devil helpin helping the snow cp weather. seeing the sun. kate has more on the forecast. >> good morning. >> good morning, afternoon. >> almost. >> we're just minutes afternoon. exactly. we're close enough, right? things are really starting to melt away quickly despite the fact we've got nearly 2 feet to felt melt away we've also got some cooler air starting to nudge in. let's start things off take you out to storm scan3. we had wet weather move through rain showers early this morning that's getting swept out to sea but that's your cold front and that's why the wind has start to do kick up a little bit. i would call eight chilly wind it's january after all. but it's not too bad on these temperature readings right now. 42 is our current temperature at the airport. we're in the mid 30s up at the mount pocono region. 40 degrees in ac and the list goes on you're generally in the lower 40s we'll stay steady fort rest of the day. i don't think you'll see too much more tacked on to those day times around the region as a whole much we're seeing the clouds break nicely for more and more sunshine. we've been talking about it pretty much all week. at this point it's safe to say despite the fact we are going to see a storm develop to our south we're squashing that threat here in the local area. so no more storms in sight for the majority of this forecast.

and also, nice little warming trend coming our way. we'll talk about just how warm it will get a bit later in the show. erika, back in to you. >> katie, thank you. officials say tornado may be responsible for this mess on the florida turnpike. one person was hurt when a car was lifted and then dropped across the median north of ft. lauderdale. some trees came down and few trucks nearby distribution center flipped over. six cars from parking lot at broward college were also overturn. over to oregon now. a traffic stop prompterred gunfire between police and the armed militia group occupying a federal building there. one activist was killed and others were arrested. cbs news correspondent carter evans has the latest. >> reporter: this video shows fbi agents and police intercep intercepting militant leader bundy and several other militia members on oregon highway not far where they've objection paid federal land sin the start of the year. shots were fired. bundy was arrested. and his brother ryan was shot but has non-life threatening

injuries. >> this is about your freedom to move about this country. >> reporter: lavoy, spokesman for the protesters was killed in the shoot out. according to bundy's father liven who spoke with cbs station coin. >> ryan bundy had been shot in the arm. lavoy had been murdered. cold-bloodedly murdered last night heavily armed officers stood guard outside a hospital believed to be holding one of the militia members. at least eight people connected to the armed protest were arre arrested tuesday on federal felony charges of conspiracy to impede officers. >> the constitution. that's what we're up here for. the constitution. >> reporter: an january 2nd, bundy and his armed followers took control of the wildlife refuge. they claim the federal government is forcing ranchers to sell their land. just days ago, oregon governor kate brown stepped up pressure on federal authorities to end the occupation. >> the situation is absolutely intolerable.

and it must be resolved immediately. >> reporter: it's unclear how many people are still occupying buildings inside the refuge. law enforcement officers have stabbed road blocks around the perimeter right now and they're only allowing property owners inside. carter evans, cbs news, burns, oregon. three prisoners who he is draped california prison got a 16 hour head start before guards took notice. the men reportedly moved through the plumbing tunnels and repelled from the roof with make shift linen ropes. police believe that the two of them may be hiding with an orange county's extension seive vet names community. the third is an ex marine who escaped to iran in 2012 and caught in spain. all three were locked up on violent crime convictions ranging from murder to torture. turning to campaign 2016. republican presidential candidate donald trump says he's going to boycott cot the last debate before the iowa caucuses. meanwhile the democratic race is

the governor of michigan appoints a panel of experts to solve flint's water crisis. this is more school children get tested for lead poisoning. the 17 member committee is task the with finding long-term solutions to help residents he can posed to lead study the city's water infrastructure and determine potential up grades. yesterday the naacp released its 15-point plan to help the city. oprah and weight watchers seem like a perfect match. it's working for her and the company. weight watchers shares shot up 20% yesterday after the

we're having today. not bad at all. we're looking at a cooler day by comparison to yesterday. however it's warm -- we started off so warm. that was actually because we were looking at a cold front crossing through you warm up out ahead of those typically and that's exactly what happened this morning. felt warmer to you perhaps this morning now we're leveling off to typical temperatures. with that said there is a nice little warming friend down the road we'll walk you through everything. in addition to that, we're not going to be dodging any kind of big storms this weekend. thank goodness for that, right? let's get outside. show you first and for most a really pleasant looking shot here. this is actually taking from very own cbs3 headquarters here. facing down spring garden stre street. and you can see that the skies are starting to clear nicely little bit more blew that sky and obviously very evident that the sun is shining down brightly here at the corner of broad and spring garden. but as we go to storm scan3 you'll understand why. we had wet weather perhaps you walk out the door to it early this morning that is now long since moved out to sea. that's your cold front that

continues to retreat. even a little bit of lake enhanced snow kicking in here you won't see that here locally rather skies continue to clear for sunshine. we talked about that tornado threat down across the deep south. this interesting because this actually the storm system that we had been talking about early in the week maybe being a threat here but this is just not going to end up being a player in our forecast guys. it looks like it gets swept out to seam atmosphere elements the pieces of the puzzle just don't come together here in our area which is a good thing. it means we stay quiet for now. so for now, we can we continue to keep high pressure on our side. we are going to see temperatures remain little on the chilly side tomorrow despite the sunshine. so watch for sun glare but high pressure keeping us nice and dry and there are the two piece what is you would have wanted to happen if you wanted another storm would be for this storm to meet up with the approaching cold air join forces essentially with the jet stream and get drawn back inland. it won't happen. we end up with maybe a flurry that's it. clouds and sunshine return for

saturday it looks like that be will we start to rebound on the thermometer. for now outside we go. it actually looks like a really nice ski day. although this is the shot outside pleasant valley high school in brodheadsville. blue mountain in the distance. they've got plenty of trails open for you here. all of the area ski resorts in the mountains. you've got 35 trails open today at blue mountain with 5-foot base. not shabby. certainly that's what big storm will help with. but your ski forecast looks pretty g tomorrow will be pretty nice day because you won't have as much wind see it pick a bit more on friday however there will be a snow shower along the way with that and a quick check on the "eyewitness weather" seven day forecast. here comes that warming trend, guys. especially sunday in monday. 50 degrees by that point. a few showers granted but we've got a little groundhog on tuesday. yeah, can you believe groundhog day right around the corner. >> where was christmas a month ago already. >> i know. >> unreal. >> we don't want him to see his shadow. that's what we would like.
