>> jessica and ukee director of emergency operations center says those initial reports were heard about 5 miles north/northeast here of hammington new jersey as you mentioned. the shaking started happening around 1:30 this afternoon and tonight we now know what is the reason behind them. officials from the naval test wing the in atlantic, at naval air station, said they were conducting routine flight testing with f35c jets and those sonic booms some people hear in southern new jersey felt this afternoon are likely as a result of that. people all throughout the the area from hammington down through atlantic city started to call 911 a after the tremors. the at first there was concern that the movement was a result of the small earthquake. >> around is first30:00, quarter of two, i believe the first tremor if you want to call that it was felt out towards hammington, folsom and then for the the next 30 or 40 minutes, there were series of anywhere, people were saying booms, some people referred to them as tremors. >> we started to tell me about

all these noises and how first thing she noticed was that i guess the pictures on the wall were shaking, and, then later she heard another noise and then she, was knocking on the door, nobody was there. >> reporter: what do you think it was. >> i thought it was an earthquake oring on. it was strange. really strange. >> reporter: you're looking at final video of f35c fighter jets. this is the reason behind that sonic boom. of course, for many folks living here in southern new jersey down the shore a lot of concern this afternoon, but fortunately no injury reported. just some shaking. just concern from those sonic booms caused by f35c jets. we are live from hammington, new jersey i'm's greg argos for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> greg, thanks for sons as there. taking a lot at weather, it will get blustery out there we will check with meteorologist kate bilo on the cbs-3 sky deck, kate. >> we're tracking a band have of rain and snow showers moving from the great lakes

towards the the philadelphia area. as that crosses our region tomorrow afternoon it will do so with the the burst of strong, gusty wind. lets take a look what is happening outside right now on storm scan three locally not much going on but if i zoom out we will be between systems. we will have one pushing off to the east, a coastal low that will miss us off shore, overnight and into tomorrow but take a look at this line of rain and snow showers, it is just really kind of barreling through great lakes through portions of lake erie, ontario and ohio at the the moment. that line will come through for us tomorrow, again, rain witt, chance for rain and snow showers as well as, again, a brief burst of gusting wind. friday's trash day for you like it is for me expect things may get blown around your trash can lids may be in the middle of the street by the time you get home tomorrow. we're looking at temperatures generally 40 degrees in philadelphia right now. thirty-one in allentown. 35 degrees in reading. 41 degrees at the atlantic city airport at the moment what to expect overnight? it does turn cloudy overnight, it should stay dry but with temperatures falling down to the 20's expect more icy

"eyewitness news" reporter anita oh is outside philadelphia water department headquarters in center city right the now with reaction from residents, anita. >> reporter: officials hearsay three water treatment plants handle 3,800,000,000 gallons of water a day, and while philadelphia certainly is no flint, many residents say they still fear possibility of contamination here in water at home. the result many are turning to bottled water like this. >> we call it schuylkill punch, disgusting.

>> reporter: alan refuses to drink philadelphia tap water. >> it is clear but it taste funny, like pretty nasty. >> reporter: he realize on bottled brands never the kind that flows freely from the delaware and schuylkill river which is treated through a multi step process before it ever gets to you. although many recognize philadelphia water cannot be compared to that of flint, or still skeptical of the tap. >> unless it comes from the sky, don't trust it. too many manmade things it goes to to get through us. >> i boil my tap water first. you can run water, you can smell the odor. >> reporter: city officials say philadelphia drinking water consistently exceeds all federal standards plus is tested daily, sometimes multiple times. for other residents that is enough. >> water is water. >> if i'm thirsty i will drink the water, fit is bottled or tap. >> reporter: since today senator bob casey a announced he is co sponsoring a clean water bill, pennsylvania lawmakers are taking steps to

prevent vice is from happening here. live from the water department, anita oh for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". well tonight the a warning for local expecting mothers as the mosquito carrying zika virus continues to spread rapidly across latin america. officials suspect that the virus is responsible in the spike of the number of babies born with ab normally small heads in brazil. the south america is where the biggest threat is, right now, the the cdc says a zika virus out break in the u.s. is unlikely. health officials urged pregnant woman not to travel to the infected regions. >> everybody has a potential life threatening effect on our unborn babies is a major concern and we need to take it seriously but i don't think it is time to panic. >> reporter: health department in pennsylvania and delaware say that they have no confirmed cases of the zika virus n new jersey there was one travel-related case last year and that person from columbia recovered and then returned to south america. authorities arrest a delaware county man who they say made on line threats a against police.

twenty-three year-old david milbourne is behind bars, and he reportedly posted on social media, referencing quote stupid chester cops, and then threatening violence against their families. police say milbourne surrendered peacefully but confessed he had no regret. >> he admitted he made threats begins chester city officers and their families, he posted that threat, and he intended and hoped to carry out that threat. >> milbourne's arrest comes 24 hours after a teenage girl was taken into custody for making on line threats targeting chester schools. we're told those incidents are not related. delaware senator chris coons could soon be getting back his sur, wilmington police located it moments ago after someone stole it from the senator's driveway this morning. police say the senator's wife had left the black ford explorer running and then stepped back inside their home when she came back out, it was gone. an under served area of philadelphia is losing a hospital, and a jobs that go witt. north philadelphia health

"eyewitness news", reporter alexandria hoff is live at city hall to explain, alex. >> reporter: well, this is a proposal to change preexisting code here in philadelphia. it has to do with entertaining gathering. councilman told me that the part that upset people wasn't even a part of the bill he was hoping that people would focus on. musicians and fans on social media, saw it as a call to arms when a proposed amendment to city code implied that venues would have to supply police, with personal information of entertainers before gigs. >> made aware of it on facebook and posted on my wall saying can you believe this. >> in dealing with artists, national tourism, managers and agents, getting their personal information is not something that industry standard. >> reporter: so far about 12,000 have signed an on line petition against it, calling out city councilman mark

for flooding. if we get it out impact should not be quite as great. we will keep you posted on. that lets look at outside right now, traffic moving okay here. this others spring garden camera looking live from our studios out toward spring garden and broad street, you can see piles of snow, still on all of the corners in center city philadelphia. and it is looking very gray and very dirty, and so pretty when it first falls and turns so ugly within several days of that storm. but those snow piles are shrinking, as the the day goes along and again, traffic is not impact. no issues tonight. we will drop below freezing so watch for some icy spots on the sidewalks, abe roads as well. storm scan three shows our position between two systems here. we've got one big line of showers and snow showers moving through great lakes region. another system gathering moisture off to the south. this is that coastal low that we were talking about earlier this week. in fact, i will take you back to storm scan three. i wanted to zumoff and show you where that storm is. see that line moving in the

region. that will get here tomorrow afternoon. this is coastal low there was at one point some concern that within drawn in by this advancing trough and become a nor'easter. that will not happen. that will stay out to sea, brushing eastern sea board, maybe a snow flake or rain drop down the shore but most do not see any impact from that. it is this line of snow showers and potential rain showers that will have an impact on us as we head into tomorrow. temperatures in the meantime, it is chilly 31, below freezing in allentown, mount pocono, isolated icy spots, 40 in philadelphia, 41 in atlantic city right now. lets look at as we head into your friday with how things intensified during the day. wind will start to pick up. late morning. then watch what happens around lunchtime and 2:00 p.m. these are wind gusts not temperatures, wind gusting to 30 miles an hour briefly. just a burst of gusting wind accompanied by scattered snow and rain showers, and then this could briefly impact your visibility out there the on the roads and even once the snow and rain showers move out, 5:00 o'clock tomorrow

night these wind are strong gusting to 35 miles an hour, in spots, before they do back off and then, by saturday morning wind, once again not an issue. just a brief period of strong wind, what to expect for your friday, midday rain and snow showers, little will or no accumulation with these but those wind gusts to 35 miles an hour. visibility will be reduced. if you find yourself traveling through a snow squall is it could limit that visibility briefly. and then it starts to warm up. the as we head into sunday the jet stream lifts to the north, monday, tuesday we are back in the 50's. take a look at wednesday here, all that warm air, it is surgeoning from the south as the storm system moves through and bringing us steady rain and then, cold air waits in the wings and will start feeling like winter quickly after that system moves through. overnight mostly cloudy and chilly. friday, clouds, gusting wind, snow shower, 40 degrees, daytime high but when those wind pick up 24540 not feeling better than 28 or 29. we have lots of sunshine, gradual warming. back to the lower 50's monday and tuesday, and then
