5:31 am
>> absolutely, you got to take the good with the bad a lot of times here, i would frankly say the good that comes with this is that it will get out out of here quickly, quick hitting system but sneaky little guy because it decide that it was going to develop at the last second, so we couldn't pinpoint exactly where the back edge of the snow would be. >> look right now, going outside in our live neighborhood network. look closely, there are heavy drops of snow currently falling, they would look more like raindrops, because it is the heavy weather variety, at 32 degrees currently here. off in the distance typically see the center sit skyline, this mess on storm scan, you won't see much in front of you here. watching for poor visibility, a lot of moisture to work with, radar 101, the darker shade of purple, heavier snow intensity, tail end of the loop see it over kent and right across the board near sussex county some heavier snow bands starting to fall in some spots. weighings good, relatively warmer ground, so see

accumulation, but it is modest for one thing, because quick hitter, it is also definitely not going to stick to the roads as easily here with this casino after set up. so, we've got winter weather advisory, no winter storm watches, no warnings, just winter weather advisory, sort of the basic, kind of advisory for the area, until 10:00 this morning in the city until noon, closer to the shore towns, but, you know, erika said there is i feel it ring through, a loft times these systems that doesn't necessarily pack as big after punch can end up being the biggest issue, because, you get cocky about it, you think that you'll fly down the highway with no problems. so, don't go into it like that. go into it with a sense of caution, heaviest of the snow expected to fall from now through 9:00 a.m. we will be on the air with you through the whole thing here. and mainly grassy accumulation, or also on anything that is unpaved. so clean your windshield off in other words. it will likely stick to it specially untreated roadways too. thirty-two the current temperature meanwhile at wilmington, 33 millville, 34 wildwood, so, our temperatures are essentially really marginal. with freezing, right now. as we go forward in the this

eyewitness weather seven day, sorry, the four cast for the region here, for the rest of the day, i call it tail of two forecasts, first half of the day, ugh. second half, see some sunshine, then later tonight watch for the fact it might refreeze. temperatures will plummet. >> heads up for school, flight. >> should point out, see some delayed openings through schools due to the inclement wet they are morning. >> why we're all wearing red, tends to not, rocking the red tie, all for go red for women day. awareness of woman's heart health problems and issues. >> so yes, great day if you are getting dressed put something on maybe supporting it, great chance to wear red, doctor jen this morning, talking about how you can take care of your heart this morning. >> ann was just telling meisha, we should be happy because the other alternative for this working naked day, which pat told us earlier, so i operated for the red. >> there go. >> safe bet. >> so i asked jim why he didn't come in naked.
5:34 am
we'll leave that to him to tell that store. >> i there we go. let's get to the roads, meisha. salting them out there, right? >> yes, they are salting them the good news is the snow is not accumulating so coming down on the roadways, but not sticking around, that's the great news. but, it doesn't matter, still very, very wet. do not under estimate wet roadways. i've been looking at traffic cameras long enough to know that when it is wet, the snow is coming down it can cause some significant delays. that's what we're starting to see starting up even in the 4:00 hour. get right to t accident in bucks county, route one northbound at route 213, pulled all the way off to the right side of the road. see the flashing light, also you can see just string every vehicles, now starting to hit the roadways, helping you know that even though we are only at about 5:30 until the morning, on a friday keep in mind not a monday tuesday wednesday, typically start to see the volumes build, it is a friday, lighter travel days, already seeing a lot of vehicles out there. so, just casino of an indicator, predecessor what's to come, we know the snow will be lan g on us all morning
5:35 am
long, give yourselves couple of extra moments out there. now, this is where we have some flooding. ninety-five northbound, at the off ramp to the walt whitman bridge, it is on the shoulder, but when we have flooding we know that all of that snow is melting, plus, we have the snow from the big snowfall we had, and that's all melting, too, so getting some flooding out there. excuse me. when we go to the vine, you can see, the eastbound westbound, looking okay but look at the visibility issues, certainly visibility issues and wet roadways, that's going it make for messy commute. just a heads up. jim, over to you. >> thanks, so much, meisha a south jersey supposed to get the most snow. >> yes, parts of the region, already coating on the gown. "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo joining us now in the mobile weather lab en route to lumberton on route 38. jan, good morning. >> just left hainesport, entered lumberton, new jersey, on route 38 right now. and this really is the heaviest we've seen the snowfall all morning long.
5:36 am
we've been making our way from philly through south jersey, it was this wet heavy snow falling earlier, pretty steadily, now it is really pick up. and you can see, ever so slightly, we are getting little bit of slush on the roadways now. earlier, it was melting as soon as it hit the gown. very wet. but now you can start seeing couple of tire tracks here on the roads this morning. so, keep that in mind, what you see out on the roads; really going to depend on what part of the delaware valley you're driving through. route 38 east, cars moving steadily here. no problems right now. but they are slowing down ever so slightly, i talk to my photographer, my lovely driver, jim. he said, yes, little bit of slush on the road right now, definitely take it easy, offer to the side of the road every once in a while with when we we go by well literaries, see how strong the snow is coming down in the area right now, and where it is accumulating. we have car dealership coming up to the rite now. you can see the cars are covered with snow. the grassy areas are covered
5:37 am
with snow, seeing pretty good snow in this part of south jersey right now, we pull off to the side of the road now where you can see how it is accumulating, even little bit more here, on the pavement. the good news is, we have seen number of salt trucks out here, doing the work, so, they're out and about, trying to keep these roads in very best condition that they k but of course it will vary. see how heavy the snow is, now with the lights of the car dealership. you see those parked cars on the side of the road. getting completely covered with snow. even on, here on the shoulder, weaver little bit more slush. so, there are changing road conditions, keep an eye on the forecast, want to keep an eye on meisha, a we will be driving around all morning long, in our cbs-3 mobile weather lab. fosh now i turn it over to justin finch coming to us live from penndot salt yard in south jersey with conditions there, good morning, justin.
5:38 am
>> seeing steady snow trucks. penndot salt yards here, presumably, about to go out at any time to start treating those roadways, one, two, three, four trucks here, and tractor here, as well. since we've been out here, we can tell you that the conditions out here in terms of the visibility have gotten soupy. out toward 95, a lot more visible earlier in the morning. the conditions, as precipitation changes, perhaps our visibility now also changing too if you look toward the traffic light, blustery, winter mix there, moving in the win there, that will impact your visibility conditions, as you are driving on the roadways this morning. looking at how this stuff is falling on the ground here, i can tell you, it is not sticking, take a look there, we have wet pavement here, some ponding here, and, there however, even in conditions like there is do you want to be safe because you never know what can happen when the roads
5:39 am
are slick and the way that they are this morning. we have seen cars that have been parked out here overnight. they do have snow on them, clear off your windshield, clear off your cars, to make it easier for other drivers. and you will again perhaps see some penndot trucks out here this morning, treating the roads, if you do, you are reminded to keep your distance from them, as they do their work to get a head start on this storm as it moves through to keep the roads clear throughout the day. for now we are living during south philly justin finch cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> justin, thanks so much. >> snap a picture, sends it to us facebook, twitter, instagram. use the #cbs3 snow. you might see here this morning. don't be surprised as we mentioned earlier if you see a lot of people wearing red today. >> it is all to raise awareness about heart disease, doctor jen is here to let you know how to figure out how old your heart really is. >> oh,.
5:40 am
5:43 am
>> we have our eye on the storm, see the snow falling from the mobile weather lab, looking at the window already, layer on the sidewalk and the plant there, so don't expect the snow to stick to the roads, but they are still slick. we're checking traffic and weather together. coming up? just a few minute. >> first, who is ready for some -- almost time to kick off wing bowl 24. >> a lot of people in south philly right now, competitive eat letters start making the crazy entrances in about 20 minute, pat gallen joining us live from wells fargo center, your very first one, are you ready? are you getting pumped, pat?
5:44 am
>> people are slowly filing in. these are the two names you need to know for wing bowl 24. because, wing bowl 23 was won by that man, patrick, mime molly won as lost last year by four wings. so it is crazy out here right now. but, we got a chance to talk to one of the founding members from the wip morning show, rhea hughes, spoke to me just moments ago. i'm always amazed when it actually follows the script. because, with this event, you never know. >> you never truly get used to it. >> i wake up 2:00 a.m., oh, not again, not again. yes, little crazy
5:45 am

5:48 am
surfaces in her neighborhood, at this point, yep, the yardstick, 2 inches thus far reported for her. >> phil, great picture, out in chestnut hill. it is snowing heavily looking like winter wonder land n addition to that, one more, ed sent in this in from chester filed, sideways snowfall in new jersey, beautiful view, but definitely messes with you as you're trying to travel clearly. going out to storm scan, what you will notice it, turns cold enough pretty much everywhere for the rain to officially turn over to snow. radar 101, the heaviest band coming in where you have the darker shades of purple. just outside of chesterfield in fact where we check in with ed, also, cutting the board between kent and sussex counties here in delaware two examples basically of where you are finding some of the steadiest and heaviest snow. not talking major amount out of this, folks, but i would say coating to 2 inches for i95 in the vicinity, closer to the shore towns, maybe more like two-four, could stick to
5:49 am
untreated roadways, but not going to find it sticking to most of the majors, as easily, simply because the grounds just little too warm. all out of here, specking sunshine, then maybe refreezing, anything left over, through the overnight, over to you. >> all i know this is good thing it is not accumulating because it is coming down certainly. it is lead ago path, and in its did he have odes struck sean, wed roadways, visibility issues certainly in a loft cameras we're looking at, in fact, this is 95 northbound, off ramp to walt whitman bridge. on the shoulder just had some flooding. that will seems to be kinds of slowly drifting out of our way. whenever talk being melting, you know in some areas you will have problem driving for your morning commute. accident in bucks county just cleared, route one northbound route 213, blocking the right side. that's now since been cleared. that's great news. two cameras i just showed you looking actually okay. but when we look at other ones

once-daily breo prevents asthma symptoms. breo is for adults with asthma not well controlled on a long-term asthma control medicine, like an inhaled corticosteroid. breo won't replace a rescue inhaler for sudden breathing problems. breo opens up airways to help improve breathing for a full 24 hours. breo contains a type of medicine that increases the risk of death from asthma problems and may increase the risk of hospitalization in children and adolescents. breo is not for people whose asthma is well controlled on a long-term asthma control medicine, like an inhaled corticosteroid. once your asthma is well controlled, your doctor will decide if you can stop breo and prescribe a different asthma control medicine, like an inhaled corticosteroid. do not take breo more than prescribed. see your doctor if your asthma does not improve or gets worse. ask your doctor if 24-hour breo could be a missing piece for you. see if you're eligible for 12 months free at mybreo.com.
