from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia. this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". well, good morning to you. today is saturday, february 6th, i'm rahel solomon. let's turn to justin drabick with eyewitness weather. justin, not quite mild but still pretty decent. >> i think you'll like today. temperatures into the had's, mid even upper 40's tomorrow. that's not bad. forty-two is our average, so for early february we'll take t we'll bring in colder air next week, chance for little more snow, that's right, yes, i said the s word. doesn't look like anything big at this point. we'll back that in a little bit. colds start, check out the temperatures this hour, across the region, we are below freezing everywhere. philadelphia international airport, 27 degrees, 23 up in allentown, 24 in trenton, 30 in the capitol city of delawarement look at some of the suburbs, with the clear

skies, calm winds right now. we are dropping into the upper teens right now, in quakertown, 22 doylestown, 24 in willow grove. so there is the change in the temperature compared to this time yesterday. woke up yesterday morning, clouds, some snow around, and it wasn't that cold, but now we're anywhere from about five to 14 degrees colder so we have to watch out for some areas of black ice. so we had the melting process yesterday, once again, temperatures well below freezing already. so, all those wet spots yesterday, were able to refreeze, so just use extra caution this morning, icy spots are hard to see early in the morning on the untreated surfaces, storm scan3, great, if you have plans to be outside today. or maybe just traveling around, getting errands done, looks good. storm scan3, clear skies, we'll have few clouds roll on in this afternoon, but overall mix of sun and clouds, can't beat 64 degrees this time of year at the shore, little more sunshine, temperatures in the lower 40's, there and then mid 30's up in the poconos, good weekends there to do some skiing, riding, talk about the

ski report little bit. course next week bring back some typical february conditions, cold air, little snow chances. that's coming up in a few more minutes. rahel, back to you. >> justin, thanks a lot. the wait is almost over. we are now one day a which from superbowl sunday. the denver broncos of course taking on the carolina panthers, going head-to-head, right here on cbs-3. cbs news correspondent jamie uke as joins us live from san francisco this morning. very early for us this morning, jamie. good morning. >> reporter: welshing it is not quite as early rahel as it has been the last couple of days, but i can tell you the party has gotten going here in san francisco. last night, one republic played just few feet from where i am standing right now, in superbowl city. and they were loud. the crowd was loving t i think there are just as many people showing up for the experiences here in san francisco as there are people going to the game. and it is going to cost them a pretty penny if they want to head to that game. tickets re selling for $5,000

if you want to sit on the yard line, about $20,000 at this point if you just opportunity souvenir, i went to the souvenir shop yesterday. for just a hat looking at 30 bucks. i think the best deal i found was this bag for 25 sent. what do you think, rahel? do you like it? >> i don't know that i could pull off that yellow but jamie, you certainly can. >> well, thank up, there were some nfl bags there worth $4,200, which we could not believe yesterday. t-shirts range anywhere from $40 as the starting point, all the way up to like $129. people could not believe what they were paying to remember the experience. >> reporter: so jamie, you've been there all week, tell me, has the crowd sort of a.m. pink up getting clothe err and closer to game day? >> reporter: yes, i have to tell you, when we got here last weekends, we've been here almost a week now, and when we first got here, so many locals

in san francisco taking advantage of everything, the city is offering this week, including, here at superbowl city, everything here is free. there are number of experiences for families to come out, enjoy, just few blocks away, there is the massconi experience, a loft locals showing to up do that. i talked to number of people yesterday had called in sick from the bay area to have some fun with their families, but yesterday specially a lot of denver bronco fans in town. if the carolina panthers want to fill levi stadium, they better start showing up today. >> i have some friends from colorado, they say all they are seeing throughout is orange and blue, thanks, jamie, appreciate t. >> and cbs-3 is your home for superbowl sunday, coverage of the big game starts at 6:00 p.m. folds by special live edition of the late show with stephen colbert. stay tuned for "eyewitness news" at 11:00 the big night

wraps up with a special edition of the late late show with james corden. >> switching gears now, authorities in chester county are investigating alleged hazing incident at connestoga high school. the investigation involves current and former members of the football team. detective we are told are in the process every interviewing 60 to 70 students, sources tell cbs-3 one student may have been injured during the alleged hazing. the trediffryn east town school district says it is cooperating with police for the investigation. so far no arrests have been made. >> a grieving community is remembering a young hero. the 12 year old was killed in a fire while trying to save his father from their bern home. our natasha brown talked to the victim's family in norristown. >> they were screaming there is a fire, there is a fire. when i opened my door, all of this smoke coming out. >> there was little time to react. flames, smoke, quickly filled this norristown home at the corner of markley street and scott alley just before 9:00 a.m.

>> athletes seven people are dead an earthquake, additional survivors after already pulling about 250 people from the rubble, the 6.4 magnitude quake took down several buildings including 17-story highrise. more than 300 people have been hospitalized. >> is her concerns have found wreckage but no sign of survivors after two planes crashed just outside of the port of los angeles. three people were believed to be aboard the two planes, that collided around 3:30 yesterday afternoon. no word yet on what might have caused the crash. the search over a 200 square mile area is expected to resume today. >> and, investigators will be back out looking into a huge crane that collapsed on to the street of manhattan killing one person, and injuring

several others. take a look at this video of the collapse. it occurred during the height of the morning rush hour. cbs reporter brian web is in manhattan try beck a neighborhood with more. >> streets in the area will remain closed for several days as this giant crane is dismantled and removed and the damage is repaired. new york city's mayor says, it is a miracle this accident wasn't even worse. >> there you go, moving fast now, dropping it really quick. >> eyewitness video captured friday morning's collapse of huge construction crane onto a manhattan street. the wreckage crushed cars and scattered debris along an entire city block. >> you heard the boom. then, you know, you run to the windows, then i see a crane falling on the street. >> the crane fell along a street in the city's try beck a neighborhood about ten blocks north of the world trade center. several buildings were damaged, as the crane fell to the ground. this counter weight landed on a desk in a nearby office building. a snow squawl was passing through at the time, and the

city's mayor says crews were working to secure the crane. >> it was being moved into a secure position because by the manufacturer's instructions, as winds topped 20 miles an hour. >> the crane which was as tall as 56-story building, was here on site for about a week, as a result of this accident, the mayor has ordered all 409 cranes operating in the city to be secured. the mayor credits the construction crew with saving lives. >> as they were lowering the crane, we're in fact keeping people away from the site and keeping traffic from proceeding down west broadway. >> police and building department investigators are looking into the cause of the accident. the mayor says the crane passed inspection on thursday. >> wind gusts at the time of the collapse were over 20 miles an hour. the victim is identified as a 38 year old man living in manhattan. in new york, brian web, cbs-3, "eyewitness news".

and justin joining us now with the forecast to talk about some sunshine and some snow. >> yep, we got little of everything in this forecast, winter weather fans, your week is coming next week. if you don't like the cold there is weekend isn't that bad. cold now, but we will talk mid to upper 40's, for early february it is great. pleasant weekend, then we will talk a little snow as well for next week. yes, bringing back that s word yes, just had it yesterday, amount ewing little break this weekend, we will get it again looks like early next weekment let's talk about that in a little bit. first, nice start to the morning, clear, cold, nice and calm. watch out for the areas of some black ice. so here are the headlines, talk about overall pleasant weekends, and temperatures actually above average. low 40's where we should be. we will get close to maybe 50 degrees tomorrow. if we see enough sunshine. but colder air returns next week, some arctic air certainly for the second half of next week, we do have shot at seeing little snow in the forecast, 29 in dover. twenty-eight in newark,

delaware, look at millville checking in at 23 degrees at this hour, 24 pemberton, similar numbers even around philadelphia, 27 at the airport, 22 in voorhees. so that cold air has really settled in. we have the clear skies, and calm winds, so no clouds to really act as a blanket this morning. so that cold, dense air, settles in at the surface, 19 quakertown, 23 in allentown. good news is we're quiet. you do see some snow showers coming off lake erie right now, up-state new york, western pennsylvania, that stays there. some clouds may stream in little bit this afternoon, but overall protected by an area of high pressure, so decent amount of sunshine today. so, enjoy today, if you like today you'll like tomorrow, even warmer, one storm system that stays off shore, may bring some clouds to the coast late sunday night into monday. but that system passes east of us. then we have to watch this storm system, typically more like clipper system, but think of it little bit more juice with it, more energy, so this will bring the chance for some snow later monday night, into tuesday, so here is the set up at this point. light rain, snow showers

develop late monday, light stuff, probably late monday afternoon into monday evening. then through the overnight monday into tuesday, just some on and off snow showers, it is not a steady snow at times, but there could be some brief pockets of some heavier snow. overall accumulations don't appear heavy at this point. but still, can't rule out maybe couple of inches of snow. again, it is all depending on how strong the system is as it reaches us, energize off the coast, does it stay weak as it stays over the mainland, so we have to wait and see. but potential for little bit of snow is there, at this point doesn't like like major storm. sunday back to again sunny skies, here is the first storm that goes off the coast, maybe bringing some clouds to the shore, then here is the second system tracking inland, they stay, disconnected, form into one big storm, talking about something different, but at this point they're separate. forty-one allentown for the afternoon temperatures, mid 40's around philadelphia. tonight it is cold again, near freezing in a lot of spot. so just be aware, it could be some untreated surfaces again

that freeze upment tomorrow nice day, mid and upper 40's, for the high temperature. so forecast today, mix of sun and cloud, overall, pleasant, 46 degrees, southwest winds at 10 miles per hour. tonight cold, mostly clear, 32 for the city, little colder in the suburbs, and good day for superbowl party tomorrow here in the delaware valley. the game itself, santa clara, looks good, kick off around 66 degrees in mostly sunny conditions throughout the day out in the west coast. so nice conditions there. so here is the extended forecast. forty-six today, 49 tomorrow, monday we will bring the clouds in, maybe late day rain or snow shower, and again, some off and on snow showers coming in on tuesday, highs in the upper 30's, and rahel looks like it stays cold next week, look at that, low 30's next thursday. so, break out those winter coats for sure. >> hats and gloves. >> not going anywhere. >> not yet, thanks, justin. well, united airlines is giving pregnant employees the option of withdrawing from assignments that take them to countries affected by zika. the virus carried by mosquitos

is suspected of causing brain deformities in babies. delta airlines has been making the same offer to flight a fen can't and pilot for more than two weeks. the world health organization says as many as 4 million people could be infected, with zika, in the next year. as fear of the zika virus grows, bug makers are expect to go see a bump in sales. manufacturers sufficient as off and coleman are ramming up production for mosquito season and the spring and summer months. johnson says they're already experiencing higher orders from southern states compared to this time last year. >> twitter says it has shutdown over 125,000 accounts since last year in its effort to fight isis and violence extremists on line. social media site adds it has increased the size of teams that review such active tip. accounts were suspended for threatening or promoting terrorist acts. now, switching gears to the movies, time to check out

skies. here comes storm one, maybe clips delaware south jersey a little bit of clouds. we will watch this system, this is the one that has the snow potential, at first, it is pretty weak dice out of southern canada, not a loft moisture with it, but as it moves toward the coast will start to energize little bit. where exactly that energize tells us how much snow we will see. >> noontime monday, storm was there, now starts to develop it off the coast. pretty far away. still light snow across areas of the delaware valley, it will be an off and on snow type event. maybe couple of inches of accumulation possible, at this point. but, if that storm was closer and stronger, if it develops faster, then talking about some heavier snow, at this point, doesn't look heavy, still something to watch. today, though, well into the 40's this afternoon, tonight, cold again, near freezing, in a lot of spot. look at tomorrow. well into the 40's, maybe even 50 degrees in some low case, enjoy it because that's gone. watch what happens.
