right now on "eyewitness news", the stage is set for superbowl 50, with the broncos and panthers, getting ready to square off. crews are already finishing last minute prepare rationings, and the excitement is building in the bay area. good evening, everyone, i'm natasha brown. thanks so much for joining us, just hours now until the big game, which you will see, right here on cbs-3. take a look at the countdown. there it is. take august way, if you haven't gotten your smacks, your party plans together yet, you have got a little bit of time. tonight the nfl celebrated stars of the past and present

at the annual nfl honors. sports director, don bell, was there, on the red carpet, also in the audience, he joins us now live in san francisco, so, don, one of the quarterbacks in tomorrow's big game got a big win tonight. >> absolutely. we already know about peyton manning the five time mvp, but who how about cam newton, wins the mvp award for the first time in his career, the most valuable player of 2015 season, receives 48 of the 501st place votes. now, cam is first carolina panther to ever win the award. he also becomes the first black quarterback to win the award outright. he had 35 passing touchdowns, career hi, to go along with ten rushing touchdowns, prolific year for him. he didn't attend the ceremony tonight because well he's getting ready for big game tomorrow sound in santa clara, you might have heard about. that will because he didn't attend, we had opportunity to talk to other hall of famers, or i should say legendary

players about cam. >> this kid has had one heck of a year. his team won. he led his team to the superbowl. when you play that position that's what it is all about. >> cam newton, absolutely amazing. what is it about him that makes him so special? >> everything, as far as the ball player, i haven't seen that casino of beast in my life, at the quarterback position, not only is he wonderful size, he is faster than he looks, you see, so big, he's got more speed than it looks like, and can he pass the football. >> the 2016 pro-football hall of fame class was also named tonight in philly native, roman catholic high school alum, marvin harrison, gets the nod on his third time on the ballot. he spent his 13 year career with the colts. averaged 84 catches a year, second all time in nfl history. and one guy who is also on the ballot tonight to become a hall of famer was terrell owens, first time on the ballot. did he not get the nod.

>> that is the story here from downtown san francisco, superbowl city, i'm don bell, back to you, natasha, in the studio. >> all right, don, thank you so much. pittsburgh native, he's getting ready to attends 50th superbowl, as well, that's right, he's been to all of them. the 74 year old is one of only three members of the exclusive never miss a superbowl club, and he says only one thing will ever keep him from coming. >> how long will you be going to these football games? >> until they put me in a box. >> well, you know would you think that going to the game would be very, very costly for the never miss a superbowl club. however, they are all on the nflvip list, and allowed to buy tickets at face value, by the way, they only paid $12 for their first superbowl ticket. boy, far cry from what we're paying now. of course it isn't the big game without big, big parties. many are spending tonight preparing to entertain crowds. alex andrea hoff spent the day

with one family expecting quite a huge crowd. >> there is pro-football, then there is doing football, like a pro. hot pepper shooters specially made. >> family known for their epic superbowl party. swapping out wings, and dip, for massive and the of traditional family cuisines. >> ought ill at yan food, mozarella cheese on top ... >> they're preparing to host about 150 people tomorrow. no caterer included. >> i made 450 meatballs. >> all of that calls for about 8-gallon of gravy, and at the helm of it all, trish. >> i started, well, preparing like two weeks, buying everything, and then i started cooking friday morning. >> asomugha long as i can remember, it's been a big party. >> the 13th year the family is hosting this party. so what you are seeing behind me, that's the wall of fame.

because everyone who shows up, then signs a football. believe it or not, this all started as just a gathering of about 25 people. >> word spread, as word spread, people now about it, we invited more people and they came. nobody said no. >> as the party grew, so did the home. this kitchen and man cave area where the game will be on were added to the home to accommodate, yes there is superbowl party. though we were a bit early, we did get to officially sign on. and delaware county, alexandria hoff, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". all right, that's going to be a great party. and you can see the superbowl right here on cbs-3. coverage of the big game starts at 6:00 p.m. that's followed by a special live edition of the late show with stephen colbert. and then stay tuned for "eyewitness news" at 11:00 followed by a special edition of the late late show with james cord on. turning to our weather, now, clear but cold start to our weekend. so what's in store for superbowl sunday? let's check in with lauren

with a first look at the forecast, hey, lauren? yes, today seasonably pleasant day. it was chilly but temperatures running right around average. we topped at 43 degrees in philadelphia, 1 degrees above our average high temperature, 43 allentown, mid 30's in the poconos, and temperatures topping low 40's down the shore. temperatures have chilled off under the mostly clear sky, live look at center city philadelphia currently 33 degrees, but nice calm winds, so no windchill impact. overnight tonight we keep it quiet, through the day tomorrow superbowl sunday quiet conditions, another round every sunday shine in store, and temperatures warm up about 5 degrees, as we head into the afternoon. but things take a turn for the messier, as we head into next week with chances of rain, rain, snow mix, and snow, as we head into mid week. then arctic blast arrives as we head into mid week, sticks around all the way into next weekend. talking about some cold temperatures, and i'll let you agree to expect in your full forecast coming up in just a couple of minutes. >> lauren, thank you. eyewitness video captures an

explosion, inside of gill bear's tavern in millville, new jersey, crews were on that scene all night long, for a three alarm fire. tell us it has been shutdown from more than a year. no injuries, and officials have not ruled on what started the blaze. the red cross is assisting one person, who happened to be displaced. now he lives in an apartment, actually, just above the tavern. mourning the loss of 12 year old little by killed by trying to help his father escape from their burning home. >> he was phone for his larger than life personality, and those who knew him well say they aren't surprised by the decision he made. strength, he worked to get on the feel, stay on the field. >> the 12 year old played offensive, defensive lineman, for the norristown youth eagle football field. now he is a hero grieved by the community. >> he was comical, bouncy, bubble, just, just a beautiful child. >> we're told that man-man rushed back inside this burning home friday morning, in a attempt to rescue his father who had recently undergone surgery. he didn't know at the time that his father had saferly made it out of the home by jumping out of second story window. firefighters say the home on the 1,000 block of markley street caught fire just after 9:00 friday morning. >> devastating. >> on saturday, a rest tore ace clues boarded up the charred remains of the home. those who knew man-man told "eyewitness news" they're not surprised woe run toward danger to help someone he loved. >> oh, who would let him run

again, with a head injuries, we're just not sure. >> the pennsylvania license plate number on lister car, djh-1547. >> now, to a wild hit-and-run crash, all captured on camera in baltimore, we do have warning for you though, this video very disturbing, the suspected drunk driver of mini-van rammed cars while trying to get away after someone started banking on his window. police say he then put the car in reverse, accelerated, hitting 27 year old woman on the sidewalk. >> she is expected to survive. driver later arrested, police say the driver may have been fearing for his life but say there is absolutely no justification whatsoever for what did he. >> now, remember cues ers continue to look for survivors after powerful earthquake that struck southern taiwan. the 6.4 magnitude quake hit yesterday, a highrise residential complex, collapsed during the quake, killing at

least 14 people, and injuring hundreds of others. nearly 340 people and this puppy have been rescued from the rubble. it isn't known just how many people may still be missing. and workers in new york city began slicing up the 565-foot crane that came crashing down on a street yesterday. one man was killed, as the crane was being lowered during strong winds, and snow. officials hope to have the street cleared of any debris. at least by monday morning. and now to the republican presidential candidates, facing off for the first time in new hampshire, trump appeared after skipping the previous nun iowa. chance for trump and all of the candidates to make their case to voters just ahead of tuesday's primary. danielle nottingham reports from manchester new hampshire. >> news debate kick off with bit of confusion, doctor ben carson and donald trump apparently didn't realize they had been called to the stage.

workers hat high end rent trues got quite the surprise visitor this week. take a look for yourself, employees found this # month old female sea lion pup asleep in a dining boot at the marine room in san diego. it was under wade and dehydrated, the little pup was taken to sea world animal rescue center, cautiously optimistic about her recovery. >> at least 15 cars fell through the ice at winter fest in lake geneva with constant fire department officials say the drivers were not at all instructed to ever park there. they did so at their own risk. reportedly no one was injured it, took crews, though, hours and hours just to remove all of those cars. wow. local stars hit the hard wood in west philly today to raise money all for great cause, take a look, you'll recognize this guy, there he is, our own ukee washington showing offer his basketball skills. he was joined by monet davis, former nba star davis,

at 33 in philadelphia. down into the 20's, in the lehigh valley. close to the freezing mark, in atlantic city right now. but the winds are behaving themselves. winds generally calm at nearly all of our reporting sites, so not dealing with a windchill impact. that's good, temperatures will be chilly tonight down to 30 degrees, mostly clear but wednesday on the light side. then for the day tomorrow, temperatures jump up 48 degrees, that would be over 5 degrees above our average, mostly sunny conditions, with some late day clouds, and again, the winds remain at 5 miles per hour or less, through the afternoon, so, feeling pretty comfortable as far as february is concerned for tomorrow. storm scan3, showing us conditions across the region, just few passing clouds, but down to the south, a lot of moisture. this is an area of low pressure that is set to develop off the southeastern coastline it, will ride up along the coast, as a coastal storm. then see secondary storm drop out of canada, now, the models still not in agreement. we will be dealing with two systems, likely monday, tuesday, and maybe into part of wednesday, as well. some light rain and snow is

what it looks like, it start off as late day monday, then overnight monday into tuesday, tuesday see mainly snow off and on throughout the day, maybe some rain mixing in, at this point, accumulations do not appear major, through this event, so just take peak at two of the long-range model snowfall forecasts starting monday going through midday wednesday. you can see the big difference, half inch of the euro, close to 5 inches in the gfs. even if we nudge toward the higher and the through this event, consider that through monday, tuesday, and part of wednesday. so, really just going to see some light intensity snowfall with some rain mixing in at times. for the first half of the week he. won't be -- not a 20-inch snowfall. what we have to concern ourself with is layering up as we head into the second half of the next week, big old trough will drop in from canada, allow the cold arctic air, starting late day tuesday, set fools wednesday, then secondary dose of even colder air arrives as we head into the end of the work week
