♪ right now at 11:00, we have our eye on the storm. snow has moved into the region and it will be hanging around for while. what you need to know before you head out for work and school in the morning. >> new tonight gunfire outside a packed restaurant in delaware. one person is dead. now authorities are trying to track down the gunman. and it's down to the wire in new hampshire. the presidential candidates are using every last minute to get their message to voters. with republican candidate chris christie tonight. but we first begin with winter storm for philadelphia and the heart of our region. good evening everyone, i'm jessica dean. >> i'm ukee washington. several school delays and closings are coming into our newsroom and they are scrolling at the bottom of your screen. let's check in with meteorologist kate bilo for look what's happening now and what we can expect in the morning. kate? >> ukee and jessica, this is just the beginning of an extended duration storm that's going to last us through tomorrow and right into wednesday morning as well. you can see it's really a big diss organize mess at the moment. we don't have have an actual storm just yet we have to wait until tomorrow for a low to develop off the coast and develop what we call a northerly land trough, inverted trough that will throw moisture back from the ocean to the north and west i now we've got this clipper system upper low swinging through with scattered snow showers. that first band has just started to push through. we've had pretty steady snowfall over portions of south jersey tonight this area is beginning to weaken and beginning lighten up a little bit. still moderate snow showers over

portions of the cam and gloucester county at the moment but then we get a break in the action. on and off snow showers through tonight. don't expect too much in the way of accumulation by the time it wake up tomorrow morning maybe half inch to an inch in a few spots mainly on the grass and on your cars and on your driveway but the main roads at least if they're treater shouldn't fair too badly in the morning much but at midnight our winter storm warning will go into effect that's the entire area shaded in pink until 6:00 o'clock wednesday morning. this is for accumulating snow and the heaviest expected to be later tomorrow evening. so our latest future weather model keeps everything squattered through the overnight hours. here's three off m with few snow showers off to the west likely will be snowing when you wake up tomorrow ears 6am. generally light although some of these snow showers could come down at a pretty good clip at times if you're out on the roads there will be slow visibility and slick spots especially untreated roadways we could see a few snow covered roads tomorrow morning. 11am we still have few snow showers around. so what to expect overnight intermittent snow we expect the

heaviest of the snow to come down late tomorrow evening. generally after sunset tomorrow night. low visibility, slick untreated surfaces elevated surfaces could be slick as well. both commutes could be slow i think the afternoon commute probably more so than the morning commute. you want to allow extra time. i'm tweaking the snow map just a bit with new information that's coming into. i'll have that for you coming up in just a few minutes. to you no ukee back over to penndot is ready to deal with whatever comes its way from this latest storm. >> jessica that has left new castle county police now searching for a killer this all happened after shots were fired in front of a crowded tgi fridays earlier tonight a few moments ago that police were able to remove the body of a man in his 20s from this parking lot. here's what we know. just before 7:00 multiple gunshots were heard outside the tgi fridays. 911 call came from inside the restaurant when police responded to the parking lot here they found a man who looked to be in his 20s lying on the ground unconscious. he was shot multiple times in the torso and he was pronounced dead on the scene. police are now looking for a killer and they were able to close the restaurant and take about 40 people down -- 20 people rather down to the police station they have about 40 witnesses and talking to them now. here's what the chief had to say earlier. >> we collected as many witnesses as possible. we took about 20 or 25 over to our police station. and most of the employees here we kept here and interviewed

them here. >> reporter: so police say in total they had about 40 witnesses as you just heard the chief says 25 people are being questioned down at the police station. right now they do not have a description or a car. they do not know who they are looking for. or what the circumstances may be surrounding all of this. that is the very latest in new castle county i'm diana rocco cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> thank you for that. former philadelphia eagles running back lesean mccoy could be facing legal trouble named in police report that details the beating of two off dutifully police officers. take look at this video from side the recess lounge in old city early sunday morning. mccoy and three friends allegedly assaulted two off duty philadelphia police officers. the fight began over a bottle of champagne. >> the first complainant sustained some very very severe injuries in terms of his eye socket, broken nose, broken rib. i believe his hasn't injuries and possibly skull injuries.

and second main nant as well sustained a laceration above the eye as well as possible skull fracture. >> police are now waiting to see if the district attorney issues arrest warrants for those involved. the daughter of a bucks county police chief is behind bars tonight for her role in a 2014 attack on gay couple in center city. kathryn knott has been sentenced to five to 10 months in jail plus two years probation. a jury convicted the 25-year-old in december of simple assault and three other diss me 19 nor charges a plea bargain kept two of her coach defendants out of jail. in campaign 2016, a last minute push in new hampshire tonight ahead of tomorrow's primary. the candidates have been criss-crossing the granite state all day and into the night stumping for every last vote. >> the position of the jet stream is determined by the earth's rotatio row and the suns moved is determined by weather. that wavy pattern for example gets cree rated by high and low pressure systems. >> from west to east comes down. >> you could ab meteorologist. >> right. >> that's why when we're coming from the west coast to east coast it's a quicker trip. west coast to east coast is quicker trip because the jet stream winds help you along. >> jet stream has a big nouns on tonight and tomorrow's forecast because what's happening is the jet stream is diving south bringing all this cold air down from canada. >> those darn canadians. >> and moisture off the coast because the jet stream diving do you think it's bringing the cold air into contact with the employers which and you get snow. >> great. we're heading back to zapped aig on wednesday. not soon enough. >> philadelphia is a beautiful city. >> i love it. i can't wait to get home. >> i can read between the lines, ladies. so how long have we known about jet streams? well, meteorologists had their suspicions before world war ii

as this system swings that was we are looking at some changes i did make a couple of tweak to the snow map. we may make a few more into tomorrow. diss organize system not a cut and dry kind of storm we really have to now cast it. watch how it develops watch the signals it's putting forth to see where the heaviest snow is going to set up. take a look at storm scan3 at the moment. that first line of snow showers moving through but it is weakening at the moment as we zoom in over portions of south jersey. you can see the steadier snow that came through now winding down a bit get into a break in the action but another round of snow showers will come through after that. so it's generally on and off through the over night and early morning generally scattered in nature not expecting much. wake up to much in the way of accumulation. school delays a tough call. a lot of folk will wake up tomorrow morning there could be a delay. i don't think the roads are bad tomorrow morning. but wint storm warning that goes into effect at midnight continuing into early wednesday morning. and coastal flood alerts as well. coastal flood warning especially for tomorrow morning's high

tide. that could lead to moderate coastal flooding we've seen it both high tides today. another round expected through tomorrow. temperatures right now very close to the freezing mark so you can see the snow will begin to stick especially to untreated surfaces the top of your car you'll need to brush that off in the morning grassy surfaces as well and untreated back roads. let's take a look what we expect this system to do. as we get into tomorrow there will be a few breaks in the action it's not going to be snowing all day long. in fact as we head into the afternoon perhaps a break. snows at 6:00 p.m., this is our north american model you can see the coastal connect here this is what we call a northerly land trough or inverted trough you see how it's oriened to the north and west. we do have some pretty steady snow beginning around sick p.m. across the area. that could lead to a slow evening commute that bulls eye could shift further to the north and west now all the guidance this evening is coming in with more of a northwest look to the heaviest precipitation shield. i've shifted that thee to 6-inch band murder of further to the north and west here expecting a storm total accumulation of three to sick inches in philadelphia that is starting

tonight and continuing right through tomorrow night. half an inch to an inch over overnight. less than inch tomorrow afternoon and two to 3-inches later tomorrow night for three to six. again overnight snow showers around at any time especially through the latter part of the night. snow at times varying intensity tomorrow then the jet stream plunges southward over the weekend. this is going to be the most brutal and prolonged blast of cold air we have felt so this winter. take look at these temperatures once we get through the snow tomorrow flurries on wednesday we go blee freezing wednesday night and we don't get above freezing until monday afternoon much highs only in the 20s. >> we all went hmm together. >> thanks, kate. >> thanks so much. lesley here with a look at sports. >> eagles undoing some things that chip kelly did the riley cooper era has come to an end with the birds. it was also a historic day for villanova basketball. the sixers taking on the clippers. so could they win back to back games for the first time this is
