walt. >> reporter: well, jessica when police officers take the oath, they know that the moment can come at anytime. the moment when they could make a difference between life and death. for two heroic lower merion police officers that moment came this morning right at this penn valley wawa when they saved a woman's life. like most mornings as he helpedded out on patrol officer jeff sullivan's first stop was his local wawa for a cup of coffee but on this morning, sullivan and partner officer rob witt, would soon learn that things would be different. before they took their first sip, this day, they would save a life. >> soon discovered there was a young lady laying on the ground and she was in distress. at the time, she really wasn't showing signs of life. >> reporter: officer sullivan radioing for help, grabbed a portable defribillator from his car, his partner performing cpr.

>> as soon as chaka replied she began to show some improvement. >> you you caught up in the moment, your training kicks in, and you just do what you have to do, what any of us would have done. >> reporter: in a life saving twist, the officers who would normally be hitting the streets, earlier, actually were delayed at the station, taking a refresher course on the aed's and cpr, skills that they would use minutes later to save a life. >> it is always good to like sully says to do some good in the neighborhood like that. >> reporter: the officers from the wawa, followed the ambulance, to the hospital. there, looking into the eyes of the woman and her mother, they knew that the full meaning of the service that they had just performed. >> i followed up and i saw her mother. i got the a little emotional at first because at that moment it hit me that i might have made a difference in somebodyes life today and as a

police officer, i have been doing this for 21 years, you don't get too many moments like that. >> reporter: that was the moment. last we heard from the police officers the would the man was on her way to recovery and as for witt and sullivan i'm sure next time they stop here, just about anyone would be happy, to buy them a cup of coffee. live at the wawa in penn val any montgomery county, i'm walt hunter for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". it is no the just cold outside but dangerously cold. temperatures will plunge even further, meteorologist kate bilo is tracking the deep freeze from the cbs-3 weather center. kate, it will just get colder. >> it will get worse from here, jessica. if you need to get on it side, maybe head out to dinner for valentines day holiday, make a run to the grocery store, tonight is your best bet to do so if you don't want to face brutal wind and wind chills that will be starting really late tomorrow morning and continuing right through the day and into sunday. take a peak what is happening outside right now temperature

wise. twenty-four in philadelphia still very cold. wind not all that strong, right now. when wind pick up that is when worst of the cold will come in. temperatures, below these numbers tomorrow, feeling at least 20, maybe even 30 degrees colder then tonight will feel. storm scan three will show reason for. that we have a strong cold front moving in bringing in some snow showers and squalls, you can see that moving in northern delaware right along i-95, low visibility with these squals. they will be around all night tonight and into tomorrow morning as well. 4:00 a.m. we will see another isolated snow squall moving through as we saw yesterday, those can lead to reduced visibility and slick conditions on the road. once that squall moves out we have a wind advisory. wind gusting as high as 50 or 55 miles an hour in spots, making it feel like around zero all day. coming up we will have more on the bitter wind chills and storm next week, for now, back over to you. bitter coal is bringing another warning tonight, ice covered pond and lakes are very dangerous and they are not as thick as you might believe. fire fighters with the gladwynn fire company are

trained for ice rescues just in case they get a call for help. they provided this video from their training session and authorities are especially concerned about children, playing on the ice. >> sometimes kid will go out and play on them and unfortunately they will fall through. so our main goal, it is to tell people to stay off of ice, dangerous. that does not eliminate the fact that we have to train inn a be ready to make a rescue if we would have to in an ice situation. >> fire company has plenty of gear to keep fire fighters safe and warm while working in the icy conditions. "eyewitness news" on the scene of the icy mess at 63rd and haverford in west philadelphia. a water main break there led to lots of ice in the bitter cold. the water gush in the streets for about eight hours. roughly 75 residents including several businesses lost water services during repairs. new developments in the bill cosby sexual assault case, today his lawyer filed an appeal and are asking a again, for that case to be thrown out. the last week a montgomery county judge rule the case

leave pets inside and hunker down if you can this weekend. lets look at is what happening right now. if you or you the tonight it is no the that bad. you can see haze. we have snow showers, pushing through center city philadelphia at the moment right down into northern delaware as well. in the really seeing those intense squals that we saw yesterday morning, a few spots could pick up one of those heavier squals during overnight hours. you can see that line of snow showers and squals moving in upstate new york and it looks like a summer thunderstorm line but that is snow and pretty heavy convective snow moving our way. it should fizzle overnight. we expect a few scattered snow showers not much more than a coating to an inch in any given location with these snow showers moving through but it is clipping city and low visibility. that will be our number one issue fining yourself traveling through these snow showers. temperatures across the live neighborhood network very coal. 20 degrees in penn square, ardmore and bensalem ape hainesport. it will get worse. wind will be picking up early tomorrow morning.
