going to be down right brutal outside. gusty winds are going to make it feel even colder. good evening, i'm ukee washington. >> i'm jessica dean. let's get right over to meteorologist kate bilo. she has more now on the dangerous cold gripping the region. kate. >> jessica and ukee, we have a few more hours before those winds really start to pick up. so if you go outside now the winds not all that bad. they're coming in as a result of this next arctic cold front which is bringing snow showers and snow squalls really to the entire northeastern united states. we saw that little bit earlier tonight right around 6:30, 6:00 o'clock tonight. we had snow showers move through philadelphia. those are now offshore. you can see a few showers right around the d.c. area at the moment and a few more snow squalls cannot be rule out through the overnight hours tonight. but as we head through the weekend, the winds pick up and the temperatures continue to drop. 23 right now in philadelphia. 20 in allentown. 20 in millville. winds again not as strong as they're going to be the squalls come through during tomorrow morning then they will phase out we'll see sunshine tomorrow but watch what happens to the winds.

mccoy where he was playing basketball outside the bellevue. did he not want to talk about the fight. his attorney says a decision will be made next week over possible charges. he is one of four people under investigation in a fight sunday at an old city nightclub over a bottle of champagne. that fight was caught on camera. philadelphia police say two off duty officers were kicked and punched leaving one with a broken nose and broken ribs. and the other with a possible skull fracture. also exclusive tonight two police officers hailed as heroes. they were at the right place at the right time to save the life of a woman who collapsed outside a montgomery county convenience store. natasha brown has more details now from lower merion township. >> reporter: fresh off a refresher course in cpr officers jeff sullivan and rob witt set out to start their day. little did they know they would have to put their renewed skills to the test so quick. >> soon discovered there was a young lady that was laying on the ground and she was in

distress. at the time she really wasn't showing any signs of life. >> reporter: officer sullivan radioed in for help grabbin graa portable defibrillator from his car while his partner began the life-saving process of cpr. >> immediately as soon as the shock was applied she began to show some improvement. >> you kind of caught up in the moment. your training kicks in and you do what you got to do. what any of us would have done. >> reporter: the woman began showing signs of life and was immediatelimmediately whisked an ambulance. this as unsuspecting customers filed in and out of this wawa on montgomery avenue. >> always good to like sully said to do some good in the neighborhood like that. >> reporter: four merion police officers jeff sullivan and rob witt a day that began like any other turned into an extraordinary act of bravery and heroism. >> i followed opine saw her mother. i got a little emotional at first, because at that moment it hit me i might have made a difference in somebody's life today. and as a police officer i've

been doing this for 21 years. you don't get too many moments like that. >> reporter: the officers were so concerned about the victim's health they followed the ambulance to the hospital just to make sure she was okay. leaving that hospital with a renewed sense of the term protecting, serving and often saving lives in their community. in lower merion, natasha brown, cbs3 "eyewitness news". a warning tonight from the pennsylvania spca for pet owners about an up tick in cases where people are posing as spca officers. the scammers threaten pet owners with animal cruelty charge if's they do not hand over their pets. a wissonoming woman was tour get add after she post add photo appearing to so her dog hanging from a wire the picture was misinterpreted. spca officials say in some cases the scammers are flashing fake badges or dressing the part in all black uniforms. tonight small business own are in in south jersey doing what he can to help tackle the drug problem in his community. >> and he's doing it with a pizza box. >> reporter: it's friday nigh night. one of the busiest for the crew the romeo's in vineland on this night the talk is about pizza but more importantly the war against drugs. >> stop saying the kids are bad. the kids are not bad. the parents are bad. because they don't want to talk to the kids about drug. >> romo opened the place three years ago and started putting stickers on his pie boxes to encourage parents to talk to kids about the dangers of drug use. >> we have a serious problem the kids are our future. we need to start talking to them em it's very important we spread the word and say, talk to your kids about drug. >> reporter: he started using these stickers thee weeks ago. so far he says he's used about 4,000. he's the first but several other in the vineland area are joining in. the police department is also involved. and customers seem to like it. >> actually i dealt with family members and stuff i think it should be addressed at any time that needs to be addressed. on pizza box, milk carton or

school assembly in south jersey ends up being the back drop for soldiers welcome home. >> "eyewitness news" at b bernice young in burlington township. joseph adams first held up a sign that conclude everyone into what was going on then he was surprised by his dad also named joseph. who has been deployed to south core for the past year and for mom the homecoming was very emotional. >> in the beginning it's the hardest and towards the end it's still hard and anticipation gets worse. but i'm glad he's home again it's amazing. it's probably one of the most memorable experiences i can imagine. >> just a great day specialist adams served in iraq in 2009 and 2010. new tonight the boss is in charge in south philadelphia. >> ♪
