talking about today. good morning, it is tuesday, february 16th, i'm erika von tiehl. as we mentioned earlier, the roads are wet t could slow down your morning commute. also, there are a few school delays at the bottom of your screen. we want to check in with katie and meisha, a keeping our eye on things for morning. going to be a mess you. >> said t it is looking very wet, very slick out there, and already, seeing some accident in the cameras, we've had two already this morning. what's in store? we know the temps rupp. what's it mean for the roadways. >> anything throughout has a chance to moment. but we're in the transition right now where you can't count on it, that it will be warm enough as you travel around. county by county they may have salt dollars differently or not at all, some of the side street, just depends, and also as you're traveling, depending how far your travels take you and where you are going you will see the thermometer readings on the car thermometers ever changing. so watch for. that let's take you outside, start things off with a look at storm scan3, at the moment, hey, there is at least nice little lull going on essentially region wide. far north and west most

suburbs, still finding hint of precipitation, see how it is starting to turn over to green. so, that tells you that the warmth is surging in, look at some of the values, i mean, you really are all over the place. at freezing in norristown, with virtually in wind whatsoever, but the wind has since turned out of the south, over the southeast, across cinnaminson, wayne, mays landing, allowed the temperatures to go on real nice uphill climb. see the values changing right before your very eyes, live observations, after all. meanwhile today lull, as far as precipitation is concerned. but, late morning, we will start to see basically a wall of water. start to move in here. a really just heavy batch of rain, wind driven no less, moving through, with the actual cold front, that crosses through with this storm. so right now, we're sitting in the warm sector after storm system. and that is why these temperatures are climbing as swiftly as they are. meanwhile, hey, freezing rain advisory, it just went out of effect. that's good news, we move it on forward, day plan nerve place for us here, mild air,

that can cause some problems out there, if that doesn't get cleared out of the way. forty-two freeway northbound for those of in you jersey around creek road, looking good approaching 295, although it is starting to heat up just little bit. we saw this happen yesterday. it tapered off because the holiday. we will not see it taper off today. it will just get busier and busier, then you add the fact it is slick conditions, that can cause some problems. ninety-five south at cottman, coming around the s curve looking government everyone traveling at posted speeds as they should. you can see the sheen on the roadways, we do have speed restrictions in play all of the majors down to 45 miles per hour right now because of how slick it is, we have snow, we've got ice and some conditions and then we've got wet roadways, construction 422 westbound between route 100 stowe. it is closed nightly, until friday. so it is closed from 9:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m. make note that far for those every in you and around the area. also more construction here 95 southbound ramp to delaware avenue closed until february 24th, that's reminder, now more of that coming up in about 15 minutes, erika, back to you. >> thank you, as katie mentioned mother nature

robbery right in the heart of center city. "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo joins us now at the scene, jan, good morning. >> reporter: err cape, good morning, police say this morning that this is a very unusual spot for something like this to happen. as you well know, 15th and locust street is a very busy area. there are a lot of restaurants in this area. shopping, and other businesses. but, police do find themselves searching for a mask man this morning, who they say shot and robbed, tried to rob, someone here over night. here's how it all went down. ninth district police called to the 1500 block of locust street around 1:00 a.m. for a shooting f here they followed a trail of blood to broad and sam some. that's where they found 38 year old man, victim shot in the arm. he was taken to hahnemann hospital in critical condition where we are told he lost a lot of blood. police are interviewing number of witnesses, they tell investigate that's the victim was walking with a friends, when a mask manna period and tried to rob them. police say the victim immediately took off running, and that's when he was shot in the arm.

detectives have now processed the scene. they found one spent shell casings from sim automatic weapon. and they are now searching for surveillance video. at this time it is unknown what the suspect got away with if anything. fortunately, though, police say the 38 year old is expected to survive. but this could have ended much worse. take a listen. >> any time someone approaches you with a gun, or a knife, or any weapons, the best thing do is just cooperate. because it is not worth getting shot or stabbed or hurt over money or cell phone or any of your possessions. >> now, unfortunately, police do not have a good description of the suspect, again, he was wearing a mask, they say, he is about 5 feet 10 inches tall to 6 feet tall. he was last seen running south on 15th street. they are hoping that witnesses and surveillance cameras can help in this case. if you have any information, you are asked to call police. we're reporting live in center

part of the south are cleaning up after powerful round of severe weather including tornados, move through the area on monday. don champion shows thaws same store is dumping snow and ice on the northeast. not even this fire station in alabama could escape the wrath of a storm. apparent tornado plowed through the town of johnson ville monday, tossing debris everywhere. in florida, dash cam video from the car of the sheriff's deputy shows another twister on the ground. across the south monday, at least 16 tornados were reported, in alabama, bo bradley road out the storm in the hallway of his home. >> we got in the home, covered up, we heard all of the rumble, and then just like that it was all gone. >> in mississippi the storm damaged the roof of this school, terrifying student. >> we could hear the water coming in the roof into the hallway. >> the same massive storm system covered roads, and streets, from the carolinas,

to new york, in snow and ice, making travel tricky. >> cars off the road everywhere. the car wrapped around telephone pole right up there. >> in baltimore this ambulance flipped responding to a call, everyone inside survived. warm temperatures are now on tap for the northeast, raising concerns over possible flooding. >> don champion, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> meanwhile storm system more rain on us, not raining though, little break? >> absolutely, nice little lull for us here for at least the morning drive. so it won't amplify the problems we do have out there. meisha will walk you through all of. that will as the weather really really goes hand-in-hand with traffic here today. because of the fact that we're seeing the surge on the thermometer underway right now t actually feels balmy out here on the skydeck. very light wind. but that's going to change. let me show that storm we just saw of the damage that left behind across the deep south from don champion's report there. see that now being swept

through southern florida, and also some very heavy rain across the carolinas, we are since still sitting technically in the warm sector of the storm warning thermometer readings really spike and as a result, any signs of pink from freezing rain, starting to diminishment frankly anything that fell to the grounds is going to have a chance very readily here to be thawing out. now i don't want you with a too comfortable with the fact. still finding at this hour some temperature readings that are a lot colder in the most outlying suburbs, most notably. so keep an eye on the car thermometer now through 10:00 a.m., anything we see roll through will be light and scattered. but there will be very heavy rain that eventually rolls through here, between about ten to 2:00 p.m. it is generally midday, and that will likely lead to at least some minor flooding, lingering showers, then, later on today, then we basically dry out as wrapping up the typical evening rush. great news there. but lunchtime, gets little dicey folks. watch for that slow travel out there. future rain amounts, pretty

impressive, north and west of the city here. we mariesly ends up with a inch plus, especially up toward again the north and west most suburbs, in the city of philadelphia there is particular model picking up on couple of tents after inch. regardless when the rain comes through, one fell swoop, it will be heavy and dealing it again right around the lunchtime frame. give or take an hour or two depending on location, it moves in from west to east by the way. looking ahead the eyewitness weather seven day forecast, real dow go on roller coaster here, but no significant cold any time soon. thursday is the chilliest day of the pack. but even then looking at sunshine, so front loaded forecast, as i like to say, granted exceptional warmth by the time we spike to 57 degrees, that's well above average. but it comes with a price of heavy rain, wind driven rain probably few rumbled of thunder along the way, skies that do gradually begin to clear for couple of days. by the time we hit the weekends starting to warm up once more. we send it into you. >> so much to look forward to, thank you so much, katie. good morning everyone, and

happy tuesday to you. yes, roadways they are slick right now, they are very wet, so if you are just thinking about hitting the roadways any time soon that's okay. actually in pretty good company right nowment things are looking pretty good looking at the schuylkill westbound at city avenue. starting to see volume levels pick up little bit. they will certainly pick up moving on into the late 5:00 and into the 6:00 hour, just because, everyone that was off yesterday, will be jumping on the roadways back to work today. so looking busy here the schuylkill westbound at city avenue also where we have an accident kind of back out of your way here and show you this, 309 approaching paper mill road. right here, see all of the flashing lights not causing too many slow downs right now, certainly can, because we know we have slick road conditions out there, that can cause some major problems if we don't get that cleared out of the way. boulevard taillights moving in the southbound direction, at fox street, things are looking pretty good here, both directions, rather, they are looking good but you can see the scene on the roadways letting you know it is wet, whenever it is wet, hydroplaning can become an issue, in some areas, it can be very, very slick, even having some black ice in some areas.
