greg argos is live in new castle county delaware where that accident led to a dramatic rescue and tonight we are hearing from the heros, greg. >> reporter: that is right there, guess contact we are hearing from the fire fight hours rescued a 18 year-old woman from hockessin, delaware. the she's lucky to be alive. the car she was driving in skid off a icy road, and slipped into what was an icy creek this morning. this morning the creek mostly frozen and creek road very slick. >> the call came in 7:30 for a vehicle off the roadway in the creek. >> reporter: inn identify 18 year-old emily earnes from hockessin, delaware buckled into her seat, upside down and gasping for air. >> she was still belt ed in the vehicle. everything was cover with water except about neck level. she was holding herself out of the water with the seat belt. >> reporter: hockessin fire fighters were first on the scene. >> first reaction was to get in the water and try to get the individual out. >> reporter: coupled with the fact her car could flip

entirely over at anytime. >> when the vehicle landed in the water it landed on a big rock and that prevented it from going over. >> reporter: both men knew they had to act quakily. >> we were able to break window cut the seat belt and get her free. >> this is type of call we do not get every day. you know, 20 years of service and this is probably only my second one that was like this. >> reporter: now we reached out to emily ernest family. her mother tells us her daughter is out of the hospital and in a statement we're thankful for the response that was so quick. now delaware state the police cited the 18 year-old for careless driving. we are live from hockessin delaware i am will's greg argos for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> they certainly heroes. storms rolled through our region. look at this scene in feasterville, bucks county. high wind and soggy soil not a good combination there. huge tree came down cause ago lot of damage to raymond eagle's home. >> we watch the tree, i looked, checking it, started to go over and i said to

myself, here it goes, and i was probably, ten, 15 feet away from where it actually hit. >> reporter: most of the damage in feasterville was concentrated in an area off bustleton pike near wood land road. here's a look at damage in richboro, bucks county. chopper three over hatboro road at tanner brothers dairy and part of the roof where the cow's live was ripped off during today's storms. tanners brothers dairy says in cows or people were injured from that damage. the storms have now moved through and we even saw a little sun, before night fall. lets check with meteorologist kate bilo with the latest on the forecast. kate, sun was kind of surprise to see. >> it was, it was like mother nature telling us storm is over it will all be okay. system is moving out and sun showing the things have improved and will continue to improve. we have a quiet stretch ahead but for time being this is storm that caused problems for past couple days. let's zoom in on a loop of the storms rolling through this

afternoon. you can see that nasty squall line that moved from chester county up through bucks county, secondary line developed over portions of south jersey and that was the strongest line that went through with some wind reported over 60 miles an hour. i can just show you storm reports as that line went through. you can see these reports lining upright along that squall line. wind damage and strong wind gusts from philadelphia to points east and we had a few down the shore as well heavy rain as well with this system. torrential rain in some spots leading to flooding on area roadways. the let's recap wyndam age reports here at highland park new jersey, gloucester city high school. scoreboard brought down by win. the report of the shingles ripped off a roof in northeast philadelphia deptford township down trees and traffic lights. power outageness pittsgrove township. this is one spot that had wind in the 60 to 70 miles an hour range. in bellmawr, new jersey down trees and wires. we have had warm air at the surface that just fed into these storms and these strong wind in the upper a atmosphere mixed down to the surface and we felt them a as that line

next miss new jersey. >> health report are stephanie stahl is here to tell us about a new scholarship. >> this ace i great group, quest to be miss america is about being well rounded, with a focus on education. but in new jersey, there is a new scholarship this year with a focus on fitness. they are climbing, crawling their way to fitness. the beauty queen back stabbing here but instead these miss new jersey contestant are hopping on each other's back and pushing their way to ultimate health. >> it is just so much more than just walking on stage in the swimsuit. >> reporter: plus bathing suits but this year for the first time is there a new scholarship called the move, look, feel award. >> it is more than just what people look like but it is actually how healthy you are. >> reporter: the owner of the training aspects in voorhees will be testing contestants on a variety of fitness measures. everything from strength, and

endurance, to cardio. >> wow. the contestant will have their fitness tested every week until the end of may and the winner gets a $1,250 scholarship. >> they are enabling us to learn how to be healthy by giving us this challenge. >> reporter: twenty year-old sandra hill lost 30-pound with diet and exercise before entering the pageant. >> here i was at my heaviest. i was at 165. >> reporter: but this competition they don't focus on wait ways, it you is all about improving fitness levels. >> it is not just about looking good but feeling good and strong for me. >> reporter: this was runner up last year. for her looking good in the bathing suit means being in the best shape ever. >> miss america organization empowers women. it makes us, root for each other. >> reporter: yes, like so many contestant, bren a wants to be i broadcast journalist. >> thank you you. but for now she will punch and kick her way to what he sheeps will be a pageant crown.

stretch, taking us through the weekend. lets look at what is going on outside we will get to time lapse video. you can see how you day went downhill. started off with cloud. lull in the morning. then you can see white out conditions, rain out conditions, very heavy downpours moved through the city through the afternoon hours. worst was right around lunch hour between 12 and 2:00. then we saw everything move away and cloud even broke for some sunshine in the wake of that storm. but past 24 hours, has been crazy, this storm has produce add lot of extreme is here. we had 5 inches of snow in delaware. we had quarter inch of ice in forks township northampton county. 65 miles an hour wind gusts was reported near pittsgrove township and salem county new jersey and 1.22 inches have rain in quakertown. everything from heavy snow, icing, strong wind and even some flooding rainfall all in the past 24 hours. and temperatures have ranged from the 20's to the 60's. we're still dealing with the localized flood threat this

evening. flood advisories have expired. poor drainage flooding still exists, rising streams and creeks off to the west, portion office chester, berks, montgomery and delaware counties. smaller streams and creeks, the brandywine and crumb creek, places like that travel a long road adjacent to those creeks expect minor flooding. storm scan three shows rain has moved off. it did do like rap around snow will get in the southern part of the region but it is now well off to the north as this storm moves away. that is not an issue. everything has cleared on out. one last look at those squall lines that moved through the region this afternoon. it got very nasty here. severe thunderstorm warnings in the middle of february coming off annex stream cold snap this weekend. pretty crazy stuff. we hit 60 for a high in philadelphia. fifty-eight was high in millville. fifty-eight in trenton as well. fifty-seven in allentown. the mount pocono got the to 50 b zero in spots this weekend. now we're looking at seasonal weather and quiet weather but temperatures will be on the roller coaster here.

tomorrow a system will pass by to the south, but still breeze day with highs in the mid 40's where they should be. thursday, chilly day, high pressure in control but highs only in the 30's and then we will start to move that high east. the as we do that we will get a return flow from the south and west. back to the 40's on friday and keeps rising in the weekend. we will talk about temperatures in the 50's both saturday and sunday. so overnight tonight, partly cloudy, breezy, cooler, 34 will be the low. not too bad. we will stay above freezing. wind trying everything out on the road as well. for your wednesday partly sunny, breezy, 46, normal is 44. we are right on target for mid-february here. thursday, sunny but chilly at 39 and then we will warm up, what a great weekend, last week even we are all stuck in the house, could in the go outside, too cold, didn't want to step outside but this weekend is totally different. fifty-seven on saturday. fifty-four on sunday. both days looking great. i mentioned this on twitter earlier and everyone was not too happy with me but there are some signals brewing that next tuesday in wednesday
