some are big, some are small. some cover the whole body. but why do people get them? nicole brewer heads to the ink experts to find out. thousands of dollars of denim swiped from center city department store. how police say the thieves got away with the designer duds. >> and fast-moving storms leave behind a path of damage from the suburbs to the city and now the cleanup is underway. it is hard to believe that just 24 hours al ago we were talking about snow and ice. good evening everyone, i'm jessica dean. >> i'm ukee washington. heavy storms downed trees and power lines and ripped off roofs. "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt has a look at some of the damage. >> reporter: from the air, the scene was devastating. powerful winds blew the roof off this dairy barn in richboro leaving hundreds of cows in the path of danger. >> amazing force that just come through and just tour that off of there. >> reporter: no cows or people were injured. a miracle according to owner lenny tanner. the farm has been in his family for decades. >> i guess the timing was right, and like i said nobody was in

harm's way. >> reporter: tanner says his barn full of almost 400 cows lot of power. we spoke to him inside tanners the family store on the dairy prompt. >> just hard to believe that that much damage could be done in such a short period of time. >> reporter: winds took down this tree nearby feasterville. it crush most of ramon engle's home. >> i watch the tree. i look at it. it started to go over and i just said to myself, here it goes. and i was probably 10, 15 feet away from where it actually hit. >> reporter: from major winter storm just a few week ago to strong winds and temperatures in the 50s, lenny tanner is prepared for whatever happens the rest of this winter. >> we just have to move forward. we'll look at everything tomorrow and then we'll start to rebuild. >> reporter: tanner here in richboro bucks county was not the only property affected though authorities say it was the largest. i also checked no major power outages to report. reporting from richboro, bucks

county, david spunt cbs3 "eyewitness news". in the city now the holmesburg boys club also suffered damage in today's storms part of the roof was ripped off by the high winds. the roof was only put on last year. after the club spent five years fundraising to pay fort work. cruise are now making repairs. no one was hurt. meteorologist kate bilo joins us to talk about the storms that caused the mess and kate earlier today you don't see this you said you don't see this very often in mid february. >> you don't sigh this very often in mid february ukee. you don't see 60-degree temperatures in mid february and the ingredients lined up for those storms to feed off of that temperatures surged out ahead of this system as it moved east. had enough warm air at the surface to pull into the storm and strengthen it and that was, n allowed those strong winds in the upper atmosphere to mix down to the surface and perfectly timed for severe weather here in philadelphia. you can see twin squall lines moving through one right here moving up through portions of buck county. a second stronger one develops down to the south and rips across south jersey that was the

one that had wind gusts reported as high as 65 miles an hour. you can see these damage reports lining up with this. take a look at a couple of them pitts grove township trees down, power out. that one reportedly a 65 mill per hour wind gust. we had one up here in bellmawr 12 port p.m. numerous trees and wires down and precipitation rates in this storm 1.34-inches per hour torrential downpours leading to very low visibility out on the roads peak wind gust at the airport 47 miles per ho hour. good news the storm has move out. flood warnings have expired or been cancel. we've got quieter water but and down temperatures to talk about. more on that coming up. ukee. >> thanks kate. we are following breaking news out of allentown tonight. a police officer was shot in the arm while serving a warrant. chopper three above the scene at 616 godfrey street. the officer's injuries are not life threatening. our newsroom will follow up on this story bring you any updates as we get them. >> 18-year-old woman is lucky to

be alive after the car she was driving skid off an icy road and into a creek in new castle county. around 7:00 their this morning firefighters rushed to creek road in york land to rescue emily earnest from her car. the hokessin woman was beau chuckled into her seat upside down gasping for air. she was lucky car didn't flip all the way over. >> was still belled in the vehicle. everything was covered with water except neck level. she was holding her outside unfortunate water with her seat belt. >> this is definitely not the type of call we get every day. 20 years of service and this is probably my second one like th this. >> according to her mother, earnest is out of the hospital tonight. in a statement her mother tells us quote we are so grateful that somebody stopped and helped emily by calling 911. we're thankful the response was so quick. emily has a mild concussion and hypothermia but will continue to gain strength. thank you for your thoughts and prayers ".

new tonight a car crash noose mamma's pizza in hi-nella camden county and leaves behind extensive damage. "eyewitness news" on the 600 block every warwick road. no one was injured. the owner tells us customer was park in front of the pizzeria when his car suddenly crashed through the window. the owner bought this pizzeria just three months ago. a brazen case of sop lifting in center city philadelphia tonight. nine men wearing ski masks hit the bloomingdale's at liberty place as the store was about to close. they stole 20 to 30 pairs of jeans worth about $2,000. the suspects fled going east on chestnut street. president obama says he will nominate a replace many for late supreme core justice antonin scalia in due time. justice scalia bench and chair at the supreme court are draped in black to honor his service to the country. senate republicans are vowing to block anyone the president nominates arguing that filling the seat should be left to the next president.

president obama disagrees. >> i'm amused when i hear people who claim to be strict interpreters of the constitution suddenly reading into it a whole series of provisions that are not there. i'm going to present somebody who inn disputablely is qualified for the seat. >> scalia will lie in repose in the supreme court friday and laid to rest saturday. embattled pennsylvania attorney general kathleen kane will not seek a second term. in scranton kane told reporters her decision was motivated by her obligation to her two sons. kane has been facing increasing pressure to step down while she awaits trial on criminal charges. she narrowly escape the senate vote seeking her removal from office last week. governor christie presents a $34.8 billion budget to new jersey lawmakers. it was his first public appearance since dropping out of the republican race for president last week. christie's proposal increased fund fog the state's distressed

pension system to nearly $1.9 billion. he called for bipartisan support on the state's biggest issues. a lot of people still talking about taylor swift's big night at the grammys last night. she won three awards including album of the year. but before she hit it big taylor swift went to win croft school in pottstown and many remember her perform and from years ago. little less produced but the talent was there. at the school today they were talking about taylor acceptance speech last night. >> she stood up for herself and it's something i wish that more young ladies her age could do as well. >> myself included. >> a member of the cafeteria staff also heaped praise on swift saying she was amazing child who turned into an mazing young woman. now taylor swift is known to change her look we saw a new haircut from her at the grammys last night but the super star has been quoted saying she never ever get a tattoo. >> i see was did there. never ever. >> other people love getting permanent ink designs on their

bill cosby's criminal sexual assault case in montgomery county is heading to trial. the judge who refused to dismiss the case denied cosby's appeal of the decision. he's accuse evidence of assaulting a former temple employee at his home in 2004. he's schedule to be in court on march 8th. >> the school reform commission voted to approve three mix for new charter schools in philadelphia. some of the audience cheered the news at the src meeting in spring garden. new charters esperanza elementary, russell buyers academy and kipp north philadelphia are all scheduled to open next year. nine other applications for new charter schools were rejected. meanwhile, one of the most sought after charter schools in philadelphia held its admissions lottery tonight. parents packed into mass community school in north --

>> he started 20 yours ago with hand painted scarves and today there's no end to the elegant items made in his studio on broad street. >> vittoria woodill goes behind the scenes to meet this local and luxurious designer. ♪ henry said an artist is an explorer. well kevin o'brien is an artist who's taking his fabrics where only few can. >> we make this nobody else can make. >> known for his designs kevin a graduate penn started his fabric business 20 years ago with hand painted scarves. with sweats his clients away. such success the expansion of his luxury brand grew right here in philadelphia. >> how much do one of these cost? >> this retail would be about $450 i think. >> it's like bringing back an old factory to the city. it's made in the us all under one roof. >> reporter: from handmade decorative pillows. sometime ale take them back

the tri-state front. >> it is finally after two days of craziness we finally got everything out of here and we're looking at pretty quiet weather to finish out the week and head into the weekend. but as we know it's february can't stay cite quite for long. my advice enjoy wool we have it. mother nature has few more tricks up her sleeve before the month is over. let's take look what's going on right off now this is our roof cam looking live from the cbs broadcast center right down 16th street towards center city philadelphia, and everything is pretty quiet outside tonight. certainly didn't look like this about, what, 11 hours ago or so when those nasty squall lines were ripping through the region right now, though, pretty peaceful. temperatures are dropping. still a bit of breeze but the breeze helped dry everything o out. storm scan3 shows our system has push on out. it moved that was portions of coastal new england now it's moving up through the canadian maritime provinces the rest of the northeast is looking pretty g a system off to the south trying to produce a few showers in virginia that should mainly

stay south of our area. another recap of those storms that rolled through this afternoon. from 11:00 to 3:00 and again you can see they wreak a lot of havoc just in three hours but they moved out quickly as they moved in a quick time lapse video from palmyra nature park shows how quickly you go from again zero visibility from cloudy sky to these intense thunderstorms and then all of a sudden we get the sun popping out. we didn't have a lot of lightning and thunder with these storms which was interesting because they were kind of up and you very quicklily. the storm had everything from snow to ice to wind to rain 5-inches of snow in seaford delaware that changed over to ice in fact a quarter of an inch of ice roared in forks township northampton county. 65 miles an hour gust today in salem county near pitts grove township and 1.22-inches of rain in quakertown a little bit of everything, and now it's over. we even had sun at the end of the day that capped everything off. temperatures right now are dropping. we're at 37 in philly. 38 in allentown. 38 if you're in reading. 40 in wildwood. not too bad.

in fact a far cry where we were this weekend remember that sunday's high 20 degrees. today's high 60 degrees. a complete swing in the mercury in fact i had the windows open in my house this morning before the storms rolled through to get fresh air in because we've all been so closed up and sealed in all weekend long trying to could have all those cracks not let the cold air in. it was complete different story today. through the rest of the week we'll ab little up and down. tomorrow we've got the system moving by to the south. it's a breezy and cooler day but seasonal. mid 40s and on thursday, same story just a little chilly highs only in the 30s. friday 40s again. with sun and clouds. up and down temperatures from 60 today to 40s tomorrow. theirs on thursday but we'll book end our bar graph with nice return to above average temperatures this weekend. overnight partly cloudy, breezy and cooler. tomorrow partly sunny still breezy. 46 is pretty normal for us though and your "eyewitness weather" seven day forecast, take a peek at the weekend, 57 saturday. 54 on sunday. i got to say it feels good to
