national security. so the question now is will the fbi get access to key evidence in december's deadly terror attack? correspondent mark albert gives us both sides. >> having a technical problem, we'll get you the story later this after hour. meanwhile the flight that brought pope francis to mexico last friday was reportedly hit by a lazer beam as it prepared to land. this news comes as pope francis gets ready to wrap up his trip with a visit to the u.s. mexican border, correspondent adrianna diaz tells us what he plans to do today. >> pope francis will celebrate mass before hundreds of thousands later today, about 50 yards from the border with el paso, texas. >> the plan is that after the mass, that he will walk up to the fence, and to offer a personal prayer for migrants. >> on tuesday, the pope displayed a rare show of anger, he scolded admire err

and have embraced the pope at every turn. adrianna diaz, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> and allentown police officer is recovering this noon, after he was shot during a stand-off. the department's criminal investigation division was following a lead related to a homicide just before 10:00 last night. while serving a search warrant on the 600 block of godfrey street, a suspect opens fire. when -- one officer shot and rushed to lehigh valley hospital. >> at the time of the incident, there was exchange every gunfire, the individual was inside, did receive wounds from the exchange of gunfire, and after a brief stand-off, we were able to secure him inside the apartment, and transport him for treatment, as well. >> the names of the suspect and officer have not been made public. that officer has been released from the hospital. the investigation is ongoing. >> in a statement, allentown's mayor ed said in part, quote, when we inch duct new police officers, i always tell them and their families that i pray

for their safety every day. our officers do a fantastic job many times in difficult circumstances. i am in awe of their courage, and last night's incident is a perfect example of why. >> the bloom inning dale ace at liberty place in center city hit beer nearly brazen shoplifters. nine men wear did i mask, stole from the store, just as it was about to close last night. the value of all of those jeans, about $2,000. the suspect fled going eason chestnut street. >> but weather wise, little chilly out there compared to yesterday, but i'll take the lack of rain, we have change on the way, we'll check in with katie out on the skydeck, katy? >> sometimes the trade off can be really quite nice, even though we still have cloud cover overhead, hey it is dry, isn't that the key, at this same time yesterday dealing with serious squawl line pushing through our area, so, you may not necessarily be able to eat lunch outside, but won't have to worry about carting the umbrella around.

looking at quiet pattern that said for the majority of this forecast, not shabby. we start things off quick check on storm scan3, which, as you might expect, does remain empty. we do however have cloud cover overhead, limiting sunshine, that said yesterday was nights dose of spring. looking at the difference right now, you are anywhere from ten to 20 plus degrees colder than this same time yesterday on the area thermometer. as that actually relate to the temperature readings, you're at 41 degrees at the airport, 43 in atlantic city, but franklin folks where we should be, dose of reality, and the winds is out there, it is noticeable granted but it is not terribly strong, at this point, so you're not going to be dealing with anything other than what we call typical mid february day here. mid 40's, the expectation, both in the city, down at the shore points, up in the mountains, more like the mid 30's for you, however, we are going to see some movement on this thermometer as we move forward. yesterday coming off of 60 degrees day, not bad, we do obviously cool down today to

key evidence in the terrorist attack in san bernardino. now, that federal judge has mandated apple de crypt a cell phone belong to go one of those attackers. but, apple says, it plans to fight that judge's order. mark albert in washington, d.c. with the details for you. >> federal investigators say farook carefully planned bloody ram pain, which killed 14 people in san bernardino, but the cup i'll whereabouts leading up to the attack, and who they spoke to, remains a mystery. >> we still have one of those killers' phones that we have not been table open. it's been over two month now, we're still working on it. >> now a federal judge has ordered apple to help the fbi hack into one of the shooters' encrypted iphones. >> every iphone has an optional auto erase feature that would owe raise the phone if there are too many incorrect passwords enters. apple would have to figure out a way to disable the future, so they could try unlimited number of pass codes to unlock the phone.

because if you are really smart er doctor like this guy peter or liz who scored perfect sat, you tends to get through life with your brains. if you're former nba player like scott, or bounty hunter like jason, you tends to get by based on braun. and if you're a beautiful woman line ann, who plays poker and i play this game with men and all they want to do is stare at my chess and i take their chips, you rely on beauty. the idea is which of those qualities, can you use to your advantage, in a game like survive orr to get to the end? >> very good. two contestant from our area my money is on philly's on joseph del grip. can you tell us about him? >> oh, i love joe. i love joe. he is 72 years old. former fbi hostage negotiator. the very first season of survivor we had a guy who was 72, rudy, he was former navy seal. and joe referenced him and said, you know, this is the

guy that i saw and i thought one day i'm going to do that. what do you know, he is 72, same age, fitness, he's such a great representation of what you can do in your 70s. >> absolutely, and such great shape, too. also i want to touch on deb fry reading, i believe she is a chemist? >> debbie is a great character. and i said character because people are either going to say oh, my god i love debbie, or oh, my god she drives me nut. debbie is really bright, has had tons of jobs, including a chemist, and also being a server at red lobster. i mean, her life spans everything, and debbie is really fun, because she'll tell you up front i'm an expert at this, i'm an expert at. that will and on survivor if you are going to talk it, you better be able to walk it, and that's what's going to be fun about watching deb. >> i just couple of second left. we want to talk about this most recent book book six and adult series, also, can you tell us about that?
