the morning and we should be in the 20's for this time of the year with the le temperatures and not even, freezing around philadelphia some suburbs near freezing and quakertown and lehigh valley. calm wind, very comfortable outside for that morning work out or just walking the dog this morning. cloud will thicken up through the morning, we are dry though. there is rain across west virginia, that gets in here later this afternoon mainly from the city on south and east. this morning, some sunshine, temperatures mild, 30's and 40's this afternoon, mild with rain late, high temperatures topping off in the mid 50's. we will time out rain sees best chance today and then more on umbrellas needed for middle of the week. we will get to that forecast in a couple minutes. back to you. at least six people are dead after a mass shooting in kalamazoo, michigan. police are calling the manner of the killings incomprehensible. forty-five year-old jason dalton is in custody this

morning. among these shot a 14 year-old girl who was critically injured. dalton allegedly shot people at multiple locations, including a car dealership and a apartment complex, and a cracker barrel parking lot. >> somebody just driving around finding people and shooting them dead in the tracks. >> the loss that the community has suffered, the loss that the community will continue to suffer. you cannot begin to put that into words. >> dalton did not resist arrest and taken into custody without incident overnight. more gun violence back in our area, overnight shooting in hunting park, we have one person dead and anothererri grer station kyw news radio news radio is live at temple university hospital where victims were taken, cherri, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, rahel. philadelphia police have confirmed that a man was killed in that shooting last night and a woman she was

severely injured and currently being treated at temple university hospital, at this point we do in the have details on her conditions but take a look at the video, what we know at this point is that it happened just before 1:00 p.m. last night, police arrived on the scene at the intersection of pike and park avenue and in the hunting park section of philadelphia. they have found the man shot multiple times, the woman was also shot as well, and they were inside of that silver vehicle when at some point a suspect or suspects began shooting, as is evident by gunshots through the windshield and shell casings on the ground. now both of the victims were rushed to temple university hospital where the man was pronounced dead, in word yet on whether the victims were shot while inside of that vehicle, or while trying to get out. again, police have confirmed that within man has died in the double shooting and woman is injured.

back out here life there is in word on the status of her condition, the victim's identities have in the been released as homicide investigators try to determine who did this and why, live from temple university hospital, cherri gregg for kyw news radio for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". cherri, thank you. eleven people have been taken to the hospital, after a car, flipped over a median. it all happened around 2:00 o'clock this morning on roosevelt boulevard and broad street. an 11 year-old boy was thrown from the car and rushed to the hospital, and three of the people inside that vehicle are listed in critical condition. four people from at plant, two other vehicles were also, were injured. and, and, series and stable condition at chop 24 morning. and, it happened just after midnight on the 4400 unblock of holden street in west.

and, the big winner in the south carolina primary, bringing in nearly one-third of. and it has announced he is suspending his campaign. and, craig boswell is in south carolina. cbs news projections donald trump has won the south carolina republican primary, and trump came out ahead of marco rubio and ted cruz who finished in a virtual tie for second place. >> i want to begin by thanking the people of south carolina. this is a special state. >> reporter: jeb bush finish in the bottom three as he told supporters this is his last primary as a 2016 presidential candidate. >> people of iowa and new hampshire and south carolina have spoken and i really respect their decision. so tonight i'm suspending my campaign. >> no. >> yes, yes.

las vegas. >> hillary clinton savored her victory over bernie sanders in the nevada democratic caucus. >> i'm so, so thrilled and so grateful to all of my supporters, out there. >> reporter: women voted to clinton 57 to 41 percent but interest polls exposed some weak necessaryes. clinton lost the vote among vote hours value honesty. sanders was also favored among younger women voters. >> i believe that on super tuesday we have got an excellent chance to win many of those states. >> reporter: this was first test for democratic presidential candidates at courting minority voters. >> democrats gathered at caucus sites including a handful here on the las vegas strip, so casino workers could a ten. >> i want to mutt my stance on bernie getting that close finish maybe.

in florence township, burlington county. family members identified victim as seven two-year old irene thorn pavilion. six others suffered minor injuries at the toll gate condos on lawrence toll gate road. chopper three over the scene on friday night. it took to hours for fire fighters to bring the flames under control and the causes under investigation. one man is in the the hospital this morning after a section of the olde city condo collapses, investigators are trying to figure out what went wrong, causing the surface of the staircase to give way last night. mid to late february, we have not quite as warm temperatures today but 50's in the so bad. and, we will talk about the rain, and, early, before that rain comes in later this afternoon. still has a lot of sunshine. check it out south jersey, live look from the middletown ship high school, cape may courthouse. there is some mid level cloud, rolling in. that is sign of the next storm system pushing through, south jersey will see rain later today. current temperatures 49. if the cloud hold off long enough parts of the south jersey could reach 60 but we are already seeing cloud reach here in philadelphia temperatures leveling off in the 50's today. way better than last sunday, 20 degrees was actual high temperature but felt like minus 13 below at one point, early sunday morning, today's forecast up to 56 degrees. much warmer today. good day to be outside. how about this we will spring ahead daylight savings time begins in three weeks. sunday march 13th sunset at

roll in. tonight, it cools down after the showers, pulling through we are talking mid to upper 30's by tomorrow morning and then high temperatures monday, cooler then today but still above average, upper 40's to around 50 degrees. now what about the temperature outlook? this is for february 28th, through march 5th. even of the month early march. signs of cold air still stuck over eastern part of the u.s. expecting below average temperatures in that time period. not every day will be below but when you average it out that is what happens. all of the warmth to the west that is typically the case. warm weather to the west, cold air in the east. that is the trend for next couple weeks. increasing clouds today rain arrives late in the afternoon, 56 for the high temperature. tonight rain mainly during evening and then 39 for the low. the here's the extended forecast good start to the workweek monday 50 degrees, tuesday more clouds roll in, some showers, potentially in the afternoon and at night, steady rain arrives from the larger storm an wednesday, it looks like heavier rain will be wednesday afternoon,

here's what you will see later on cbs, this sunday morning. >> ♪ >> reporter: sure, they are monkeys but haven't you felt like this? who could refuse a steaming hot bath on a cold winter's day this guy seems so relaxed he cannot quite keep his eyes opened. these snow monkeys come down from the mountains in nagano japan seeking warmth and as you might imagine, plenty of humans come to seek them. we made the trek in through a thick forest of japanese cedar along with the group of photographers. led by mark hemmings. >> i'm not per se a wild life photographer but i like photographing monkeys because they have such human characteristics. >> they have it made they have the life. >> reporter: matt and rubin luther from milwaukee first saw these snow monkeys in national geographic. >> we see them relaxing, and

that's a fact. but this whole "blondes have more fun" thing... ♪ standing by for fun. ♪ good morning, i'm rahel solomon. meteorologist justin drabick is out on the cbs-3 sky deck with eyewitness weather. the justin, it doesn't feel like february. you are not even wearing a coat. >> hard to believe it. here we are late february out here enjoying mild temperatures and it will feel good once again, this afternoon, in the quite as warm as yesterday because we are bringing in some clouds. you you can see those cloud moving in. mid to high level cloud, they will lower and thicken later this afternoon and then we have rain for parts of the

region but most of the day does stay dry. but yesterday hopefully you had a chance to enjoy pleasant conditions. 60 degrees for the high, officially at the airport. 15 degrees above average on saturday. there were some locations that hit the mid 60's. the right new lower 40's currently from the city, into trenton. forty in wilmington, delaware. colder in the lehigh valley and berks county where temperatures there checking in the mid 30's but still above average for this time of the year. we should be in the 20's for lows for late february. wind calm, comfortable outside, maybe going for morning bike ride or jog, pretty nice, until lighter weight jacket on. ditch winter death once again today. there are clouds mainly from the city north and west, those are thickest cloud seeing decent sunshine in central delaware and south jersey. rain over west virginia starts to pull in here by mid to late afternoon. by four or 5:00 we will see showers from the west. from the city south and east. check out these temperatures,

clues this morning after a shooting in hunting park. leaves one person dead and another injured. cherri gregg from our sister station kyw news radio is live at temple university hospital with the latest, cherri, what can you tell us. >> reporter: good morning, rahel. yes, two victims in that shooting, philadelphia police have confirmed that within of the victims a man was pronounced dead and second victim a woman is being currently treated at temple university hospital. she was severely injured in that shooting and yet we do not have details regarding her condition. take a look at the video. what we know at this point is that police arrived at pike and park avenue, just before 11:00 p.m. saturday night. they found the man shot multiple times, would the man was also shot apparently the two victims were inside of that silver vehicle, when at some point a suspect or suspects, began shooting, as you can see there are multiple gunshots through the

life. >> it was a reminder that there are more important things in his life then the job he did every day. he was somebody who loved his church and loved his country both. >> reporter: and he loved his friend, said dick coleman, who went to college and law school with scalia. >> always gets me when i read something in the media about him being a grouch, he was warmest, funniest guy i know. >> reporter: mourners from both sides of the aisle including vice-president dick cheyney and joe biden and senator ted cruz came together to say good bye. weijia jiang for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". fbi terrorism experts are now investigating the shooting of two new york city police officers, early saturday morning. the officers were shot while responding to reports of gunfire in brooklyn. one officer was hit in his bullet-proof vest and other was struck in the hip. neither have life threatening injuries, the suspect was shot by another officer at the scene, in word on his condition the at this time.

thousands marched through chinatown this weekend in support of the former nypd officer, as part of the nationwide rally for that officer, who was recently quick in the shooting death of an unarmed man. throughout the day on wednesday and even into thursday morning. there is a killed front that tracks through causing the showers and cooler temperatures return to the forecast this week. workweek starts off nice by monday morning we are dry and start off with sunshine and sunshine continues throughout your monday. here comes the little disturbance here on tuesday. this is weaker storm of the two, maybe bringing in some showers in here, wet snow flakes possible for far north and west of the city. won't amount to anything. main storm comes in wednesday and thursday. like yesterday still forecast today, keeps more inland track. if this track does verify still three days away things can change this will put us on the warm side of the system. its looking like mainly a rain event for the entire delaware valley. highs today 50's, maybe 60 degrees south in the city and then cools down tonight in the 30's. noticeably cooler tomorrow still in the bad for late february upper 40's to 50 degrees. how about the trend? jet stream still that flat low going on. we are mild.
