our other top story, chances of severe weather, just rain right now, but we could be in for a windy stormy day. good afternoon, i'm erika von tiehl. the question is when will your area see this wild weather we want to check in with katie with a look at the forecast right now, that winds will whip? >> that i would say is one of the biggest impact we'll see out of the storm center, so with the storm starting to move our way, you know, obviously had rough go of it already this morning, morning drive featured fog, poor visibility, certainly talk every rain moving through. but the core of the storm system on it way n let's go to the maps, start things off here as storm scan3, where basically mid-atlantic zoom. you can see how things have been somewhat scattered in nature, granted few pockets of locally heavy rain here and there, but the brunt of this has yet to make it arrival. severe weather threats bull's eye over virginia as well as portions of north carolina where moderate, that's hi, moderate risk for severe weather is posted, our threat is there, as well, but little

less there are where we stands with the worse of the storms over the carolinas, tornado watches and warnings, currently posted, and we, again, have some of the severe weather element, coming into play for you are area before the day is said and done. visibility getting better but not perfect obviously, in wilmington, at the site, currently only at half mile. and you're down to about a mile in a lot of spot, as well, but we are still waiting for this to continue to go downhill really through the second half of the day and toward the typical evening commute, unfortunately, timing terrible here, heaviest rain, strongest of the storms, are set to rumble through. >> governor wolf wolf makes serious personal announcement, he is fighting prostate cans earth. joining us with what this means for his duties as governor, also the treatment plan.

walt? >> reporter: erika, announcement did commas a surprise, governor tom wolf and his wife, though, saying they're optimistic, in fact, were upbeat, announcing the prostate cancer diagnosis. they are emphasizing the disease or his treatment will impact the governor's role and he expects to make a full recovery. >> my wife and i just recently found out that avenue mild case of prostate cancer. >> with his wife francis at his side, governor tom wolf told reporters he has prostate cancer. and will undergo medical treatments in about two weeks. >> in no way will it affect my ability to serve as governor. >> explained the first signs of the cancer emerged in the late fall in psa tests. and then were confirmed with biopsies. >> i'm convinced, and by people who have looked at this, and by the people that i've gotten this early on, it is not that -- it is very eminently treatable. >> both the governor and his wife say they are optimistic

we've ever showed you, but outside the palmyra cove exactly name that camera, shall you? palmyra cove nature park, very low-lying cloud cover here, moisture saturated and moisture rich air mass, that we are working with here, that's allowed low-lying cloud cover to set until across our area, of course dealing with scattered pork et cetera of rain throughout the course of the day already. let's look at the storm itself. this is rough stuff. take a look, very classic set one this. you have the comma shape to it, few little streaks here, of what are some very impressive squawl lines setting up there. is your snow obviously way far removed, heck, across the canadian border, but some of these squawl lines are nasty looking, such a clash in the atmosphere, on the back side of this very potent cold front. that's part of the problem. and that's getting strung out to the north here. so, brunt of severe weather definitely taking place to the mid-atlantic, how much, we've actually now seen another upgrade to ourself ear weather threat. portions of the area now sit in an enhanced risk primarily though the biggest risk looks

to be heavy downpours, maybe small hail, but specially gusty winds, i think when the squawl line we think will set up actually comes through, you could see gusts as high as 06 miles per hour, watching us at home and you noon hit the road later this afternoon, secure anything that's loose on the porch or deck if you have anything sitting out from the past weekend when it was actually nice outside. make sure it is put away. the winds, highest risk as far as storm threats, even though it is a low risk, we can't rule out the other three here. now, let's take a look at the winds advisory, that's again something i want to focus on here at the shore, in general, could you see to up 50-mile per hour wind gusts but there will likely also be the isolated spots when a squawl line moves through that could pick up to 60 miles per hour, meanwhile, through the rest of this afternoon, pockets of locally heavier rain gradually going more and more downhill with time. i think will get strung out like a line by 6:00, 7:00. that's what we think will be the timing for the squawl line to come through and bring with it the really nasty gusts that will going to come through,

dealing with heavy rain into the late night. future rain amounts, already had couple of tents of ann, looks like bulk of the rain at least according to this mod whole go to the northern tier of our area. that said, one when does it finally get out of here? sit tight. we are still dealing with winds, likely few showers left over tomorrow. we hit friday, granted the sun will come back still blustery, and then at least it looks better for the weekends. sunday specially, erika, looking awfully pleasant. >> just make it to sunday, thanks, katie. local performance group inspired many across the region after wowing audiences from the delaware valley to dc, much more in store for the state street miracles, performance troop with disabilities.
