from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia. this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". right now on "eyewitness news" after days of cold temperatures and whipping winds, we're now looking forward to temperatures in the 60s. good evening, everyone, i'm natasha brown, thanks for joining us, almost the end of february, but it will feel a lot more we're jumping into april. lauren casey in the weather sent war look at this winter warm up. i like it, lauren? yes, why not? just jump straight to april. march, forget t so we are going to warm things up headed into your sunday, great outdoor day, today with the sunshine, wasn't too bad, but temperatures on the chilly side our high in philadelphia, 44 degrees, that's about 3 degrees below our average. we topped at 43 lehigh valley, 42 in ac today and only came

in in 30's in wildwood, temperatures right now, are on the chim i side, 38 in philly, in the 20's in the lehigh vale, down to 34 degrees atlantic city and calling in at 36 in trenton. but we do have little bit of windchill impact, still the breeze hanging onto making it feel more like 30 degrees, in philly, two's down the shore and low 20's in the lehigh valleyment but as we head into tomorrow, taking a swing at 60 degrees, and that's going to last for more than a few days. march 1st is next tuesday, tan will come in like a nice little gentle lamb. but then as we head into the end of next week, colder weather is going to return, but we will have nice mild stretch of weather and more sunshine which something has been spars so far this month in store for tomorrow. all of the details on that coming up in just a few, natasha. >> lauren, thanks, see you soon n campaign 2016 tonight make it two in a row for hillary clinton. former secretary every state is celebrating landslide victory in the south carolina democratic presidential primary. clinton defeated vermont senator bernie sanders by 48

"eyewitness news" reporter and

even a oh shows us what may have caused this accident. >> we actually seen the building just go down, just boom, fast, really fast. >> all that remains is rubble. >> i saw the building actually imploded within itself. >> neighbors say a fifth generation barber shop and the apartment above it came crashing down in grays ferry around 7:30 saturday morning. >> you actually heard the bricks crack. >> gregory cooper said he immediately ray down from his third story bedroom across the street to see if anyone was trapped. >> and i heard a voice from the back of the house. >> thirty-nine year old man inside when the building collapsed, narrowly escaped death. he's now recovering at penn presbyterian hospital. >> was pretty much probably snuck in the back bedroom, and that's probably what saved his life. because he was at the top of the rubble. >> those on scene say it is fortunate that the building collapsed when it did in the way that it did. >> kids go up and down this block to school right there audenreid, and my first

thought was my god, if this would happen on a weekday when the kids are getting out of school, you know, it could have been worse than what it is today. >> didn't collapse into the other buildings, that are nearby, and no one was in the barber shop or on the street at the time of the collapse except for the one victim who had been taken to the hospital. >> crews spent much of the day cutting electric and gas lines to several properties in preparing the site for demolition and clean up. >> it is still not known what exactly caused this building to collapse. although, recent heavy winds may have been a factor. the licenses and inspections department tells us there was no history of violations at this property. reporting in grays ferry, anita o, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> and another man trapped and rescued this time after a plane crash. it happened in gettysburg this afternoon. the plane did not touch the ground. but it became lodged in the trees and the pilot was trapped 50 feet above ground for about four hours. the 87 year old was hoisted down by rescue crews and walked away with no injuries.

now, to an update on a story that we've been following, the cherry hill police department is work to go recruit the best and the bright toast join the force. today more than 100 applicant ants took the physical ability test, alexandria huff found out first-hand the test is not east. >> i there are few things that can un nerve after police officer. except perhaps the chance of not becoming one. >> i always wanted to be one growing up. >> people around here, they really depend on the police officers to really do their jobs and do it well. >> these cherry hill police officer hopefuls are the remaining 272 down from 2400 who requested applications, they passed the written exam, and now must complete a quarter mile obstacle course in under two minutes or leave the program. >> short foot pursuit, to gauge a person's ability to perform the functions after police officer.

>> so in order to perform my duties as a reporter -- >> things you may encounter in every day police report. >> i got a briefing on the course and thought what many of you likely are. it doesn't look so bad. >> harder than i thought. >> a lot harder than i thought it would be. >> two hands on the bar. >> that's when i realized that i was likely in over my head. and it was too late. the 12 lane course was so intense that not even our go pro camera could hang on. >> there is that. >> by the time i reached the stairs my life pretty much flooder before my eyes, but somehow -- >> i'm super out of breath, we lost our go pro, but check this out, 1:55. >> miracle, but remember, a officer's job is really just beginning once it chases over. and for this crew, there are still several steps to conquer, before making it to the academy. cherry hill, al creeks. -- alexandria huff.

>> nice job, alex. meantime memorial service is planned for former miss new jersey cara motorcycle crumb un, at the ocean city tab err naegel. funeral services will take in her hometown of forest city, arkansas. she was severely hurt in a february 15th car accident on route 55 in south jersey. she later succombed to her injuries. also, a police officer somewhere toss avoid an animal and crashes his crews near a pole. it happened about 3:00 this morning in wynnefield, the officer was taken to pen presbyterian medical center minor injuries. he is a 20 year veteran of the force. >> remembering a philadelphia national treasure do your black history month. tonight the city celebrating marion anderson day on what would have been the legendary singer's 119th birthday. the national merion anderson museum on martin street in south philly hosed an open house event. organizers unveiled ex exhibit newly curated dresses and

photos, as well. the celebration included the dedication after oil painting of anderson that was created back in 1938. >> i came here, and i knew that this was a place where the painting belonged. you see all of the memorabilia here, and the wonderful people who look after the museum, and i decided that this was where it belonged at the home of marion anderson. >> painting has not been seen publicly until now. and the kimmel sent letter continue to be the home of the annual merion anderson award ceremony and gala. officials announced new 15 year partnership. >> now the first nazarene baptist church in camden also celebrated black history month with a visit from the daughter of malcolm x. a community activist and author, spoke to large group this afternoon. she promotes higher education for at risk youth and also interfaith dialogue to build bridges between cultures. >> stay with us, everyone, still to come tonight on

>> intense video captured on shows a dump truck slamming into another car and pushing it right through an intersection. the driver says he doesn't know what caused him to lose control, the truck and other vehicles went through a concrete barrier and ultimately into a creek. four people were taken to the hospital with injuries that are not life threatening, amazingly. >> and fiery crash early this morning in los angeles left three people dead, three other critically injured. crash was caused by two drivers racing each other. it happened on the southbound side freeway just after midnight. one of the cars racing hit an ups tractor-trailer. one driver has been arrested and could face vehicular manslaughter charges, authorities are still searching for the other driver. >> a united states and russian

broker cease-fire brought calm to parts of syria at least for the first time in years today. a local market in northeastern syria was full of activity on the first day of the cease-fire. but not all of the country was peaceful. there were number of cease-fire briefings of beaches and isis which is not a party to the cease-fire launched several attacks after the trues went into effect. >> story we've been telling but ukrainian man posting as high school student in harrisburg. well, now, fellow student rent reacting. twenty-three year old was enrolled at john harris high school in 2012, as 14 year old asher month. he was arrested tuesday and charged with multiple charges, related to the identity theft and statutory sexual assault, he had a relationship with a 15 year old in 2014. student that new him were surprised but supportive.

about to could to end. we've had 20, 06 degrees or warmer, new all time record, and the last record we kind of killed it. sixteen days and we will tack on few more before february is over, for today we didn't do it, temperatures chilly, 38 degrees in philadelphia, in the 20's lehigh valley, mid 30's down the shore, but temperatures up wind, very mild, now, take into account it is about 11:00 at night. temperatures still up into the 50's, to near 06 degrees, across portions of the midwest and mid south headed up into the planes and upper great lakes. you can see temperatures still in the 60s, 64 omaha, right now, record high temperature in minneapolis today, and we are going to start the warm up as we head into tonight as that warmer air mass starts to build in, but warmth a little bit deceiving. 34 degrees, just won't be as cold as last night. mostly clear conditions as we head into the day tomorrow. certainly some winter warmth, sunshine, little bit breezy, but doesn't matter,

06 degrees, is where we are headed that's about 13 degrees above average for us. we do have another round of sunshine, as far as climate clear days, today only our fourth of the month. we've had 13 partly cloudy days, and ten cloudy days, so i think we need another good dose of vitamin d. we will get that tomorrow. storm scan3 showing us few clouds headed into the poconos, high pressure in control, singing stable air, giving us sunshine, that's exactly with a future satellite and radar will show us headed into the day tomorrow. time rolls on. nothing happening. headed into our monday morning commute, few showers start to work into the poconos, and lehigh valley, have dry commute in philadelphia and surrounding counties, and certainly down in south jersey. but weak cold front is going to draw through, could bring us few showers mainly before midday, those will quickly race out, skies clear out quickly on the back side, will likely turn over to mostly sunny skies before the sun does set monday might want the

umbrella in case monday, but if you leave without it you will be all right too. tomorrow, sunglasses, very nice day, a lot of sunshine, little bit of southwest breeze, high temperatures up near 60 degrees. down the shore up near 50 degrees, in the poconos, nice day there, and we're at 60 still on monday, with chance of few light showers and sprinkles, mainly in the morning, tuesday, that is the start of meteorological spring, march 1st, 58 degrees, still running over 10 degrees above average. hang onto 50's into wednesday, that chance of showers, mainly for the first half of the day, little bit breezy, colder on thursday, temperatures jump down middle 40's, then friday looks a little chilly but you know, so far off. we don't really need to think about it yet. >> i can't even see past six 60s, thank you, lauren, meteorological spring? that will do. >> we'll take it. >> any kind of spring. >> thanks so much. leslie, that's sports
