this is a a simple case about ignorance, violence, and a shocking lack of supervision. >> explosive claims of hazing rocks a main line high school shocking allegations are centered around a football team at conestoga high school. and good afternoon i'm rahel solomon, erika von tiehl is off today.

three students are facing charges but none include hazing. "eyewitness news" reporter walt hunter is live at chester county justice center in west chester with the troubling details, walt? >> reporter: well, rahel, shocking allegations, and late developments, just moments ago the tredyffrin easttown school district announce that the head football coach at conestoga high school has been suspended, and this coming barely a couple of hours after district attorney tom hogan here announced at rest of 3-foot the ball team members, in an alleged hazing incident. a hazing incident with homophobic over tones. here's what we know so far. take a look at the details. three conestoga high school football players, all 17 years old, have been criminally charged in connection with what the district attorney calls, a homophobic, hazing ritual, that is, on every thursday afternoon, the d.a. says, going back for four years, the football players at conestoga would gather in the locker room for what they

called no gay thursday. on a particular thursday, october 15th of last year, the d.a. says that a freshman football team member, a 14 year-old was held down, strip, and then assaulted, with a broom handle of a private area of his body. d.a. elaborated on the other events going back four years that he said during no gay thursday at conestoga. >> you would have an older kid, come behind a younger kid, and then put his genitals on top of the younger kids head. that was okay on thursday. the freshman might be ordered to, sophomores might be ordered to strip down to their underwear and clean the locker room in front of all of the upper classmen. >> reporter: now, the district attorney questions who reporters a at his press conference where were the coaches? for that matter where were the

school supervisors during the four years that this was allegedly occurring? the d.a. saying that students at the school, including football players, knew about the homophobic hazing and many of them did go in the locker room on thursday afternoon because they were aware of it. finally, the d.a. says that the three, 17 years olds who are all charged as juveniles so they are not being identified are not being charged with hazing although they are being charged with other criminal allegations. the reason is that the hazing law in pennsylvania only applies to colleges, not high schools and that needs to be changed. again, moment ago the district issued a school statement saying they are guard ago begins this in the future and head high school coach at conestoga high school has been suspended. we will have much more on this developing story, later on cbs-3, for now, live from the d.a.'s office in chester county, i'm walt hunter for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". all right, walt, very

disturbing allegations indeed. thank you very much. switching gears new to weather, a snowy start tour friday, now we are looking more toward the weekend. snow came down at a pretty good clip at some point this morning. that is nothing more than a coating in most areas. the lets get a first look at the forecast with meteorologist katie fehlinger. >> we ended up with pretty substantial snow depending on where you you were rahel it is a matter of location, location, location at this point though thankfully our storm is located primarily now out to sea. we are finding a little bit of light snow taking you out to a wider zoom on storm scan. notice snow rotate ago way, really you're only left with additional snow still falling right now, cross east central new jersey. ocean county, into burlington still getting in on it but we have to talk about these snow amounts. in pennsylvania it wasn't all that much. coating to an inch or so, as is, you know, reflective here among the short list of those, amounts. in some of the portions of new jersey that we did

it gave me the opportunity to cross this off my bucket list making a snow man on the boardwalk. it is world's ugliest snow man but i made it in two minutes. what can you do. the not a whole lot of people out the here on the boardwalk in ocean city. but we did, find one sweet sight for sore eyes, the fudge kitchen is opened. >> crazy, i mean it is so unexpect. last sunday was approaching 60 i guess and we are looking at snow less than a week later. so, it is pretty nuts. >> reporter: any customers today. >> not yet, no. but i wouldn't be surprised, people like to come up here and see snow on the boardwalk and snow on the beach, so it will bring some people in. >> reporter: they are hoping people get their easter candy within there they had nice chocolate easter eggs on display, and so if you come to the boardwalk in the next few hours you will have an opportunity to maybe have a snowball fight on the boardwalk and maybe fix up frosty, bring him a surf board or something that might ab

"eyewitness news" reporter justin finch has the latest on the hunt for the suspect. >> reporter: surveillance cameras could be critical in capturing kill shore came barging in the kitchen have lee's cafe and bistro and left a woman dead. >> vietnamese restaurant was opened for business, there were about four employees, and about five customers, inside of the property. >> reporter: victim age 54, a cook, whom police say for the to stay alive. >> based on crimes scene evidence the it appears that the 54 year-old female was involved in a violent struggle. >> not only did he have the

deep cut to her neck, but she also had some bruce to go her face. >> reporter: third district office's arrived just past 9:00 o'clock to the washington avenue restaurant. kitchen game signs of the struggle, blood stains, items overturned and victim found with the equipment on top of her body. minutes later she was pronounced dead. upstairs, five customers were dining and four staffers were working, homicide detectives want to uncover what they noticed, that hinges on where they were. the kitchen is in the basement, take out service is street level and dining area is on the second floor. >> at this point we don't know exactly what employees or customers did here. they were immediately transported to homicide. >> reporter: those customers and staffers did spend part of their thursday night speaking with homicide detectives. they will also review surveillance footage in hopes of the catching a glimpse of the suspect leaving or going into the restaurant. in south philadelphia, i'm justin finch for cbs-3 "eyewitness news".

workers found the knife possibly when the home was demolished in 1998. worker supposedly gave the knife to a police officer who kept it for himself, and now only recently authorities found out about the knife and tmz says it has led to a top secret investigation. by the way, fit is connected to the o.j. simpson case, o.j. cannot be prosecuted again, because of double jeopardy. well, what did you have for breakfast? doctors say you might want to consider adding yogurt and coffee. the boston researchers found woman who ate five or more serving of yogurt a week had a lower risk of developing high blood pressure. and, researchers in the u.s., and sweden had found drinking around six cups of coffee a day, reduced the risk of high blood pressure. they say coffee has anti-inflammatory properties and that could explain the link. and for those taking an aspirin a day for your heart there is another possible benefit, researchers in massachusetts say regular use of aspirin can help prevent

most of our area lets go start off by taking you outside to our live neighborhood network where we are finding clouds, a few peaks of sun trying to peak through there outside cute town area middle school we are at 32 degrees. barely a breeze. pairly even snow on the grass at this point. if it is through can barely make it out. one place you have it it seems counter intuitive like it is backward. beach patrol headquarters in margate completely snow covered beach. clearly someone has been walking out and about on the beach. i'm not sure if that was a dog or someone taking a stroll here but regardless we had decent accumulation that went on there it is still going on across parts of ocean, monmouth ain't now burlington county. heck even portions of atlantic county is seeing a few flakes. notice it is rotate ago way. we will see these cloud thin for at least a little bit of sunshine. do i want to show you much wider zoom. we have mentioned that hiccup this weekend. here it is, not amounting to much at this point. it is a weak disturbance that

will be a blip on the radar overnight the saturday into sunday with a quick sprinkle, maybe a flurry, that would be it. lets talk about the highlights though from winter, okay, so we know december was a warm month. warmest ever recorded in fact. with that said we ended up with over or just shy of 2 feet of snow in january. remember that big storm that came in. and meanwhile things have really just been very mild, more than anything, especially march so far. granted it is only fourth of march but we are trending well a above average here with our area temperatures. we're only going to keep on climbing on the thermometer in the days ahead. we will go from what has been somewhat chilly to down right balmy, looking forward, here's that blip over the weekend. again, barely a blip on the radar. then we will start to see rebound take place here, jet stream lifts north, milder air can come in and will stick around. wait until you see the extended forecast, from now it is still kind of chilly, mid 30's in reading, philly, and it gets in the lower 40's around a region as a whole. let me show you the good stuff on the way here.
