no signs every winter, month to go where wild wet kerr happen across the delaware valley. next several days we warm things up. little gloomy this morning, though, still need that heavier coat, where we have temperature of 37 degrees, in philadelphia, and you can still see overcast skies, over the region, few flurries are possible, some spots earlier, did not happen in philadelphia. light breeze out of the northeast, 6 miles per hour, last little flurries up across northern bucks county, that probably not even reaching the ground, and diminishing flurries across central delaware. improving conditions the morning into the afternoon, should see little sunshine. still chilly. many areas now starting to climb above freezing, it is cents 33 in millville, 36 degrees in wilmington, still in the mid 20's up in the poconos, quakertown checks in below freezing, at 30. so, through the morning, decreasing clouds. by noontime, low 40's, so it is still cool afternoon, overall, for early march. high temperature only around 48 degrees, mid four's at the shore, near 40 at the poconos. and then really we warm things up middle of the week,

our coverage continues on line, at cbsphilly.com. and talks will continue tomorrow to avoid new jersey transit's first strike, in over 30 years. mediator held talks with both labor and management on friday. an union officials called the day long session productive, said, both sides moved a little. the main sticking point is healthcare costs, strike deadline set for next weekend. >> a former eagles defensive back, who now plays for the jacksonville jaguires is reportedly doing well after he was kidnapped. police say earl wolf was leaving a friend's home in fayetteville, north carolina on february 23rd, when gunmen forced him into a vehicle. the investigators say the men held wolf for a short time, but did not hurt him. police have charged one man. wolf played with the eagles for two seasons before moving to jacksonville last year. >> a suspect is facing charges, after an unmark police car was struck by gunfire in frankford. the incident happened on the

5300 block of hedge street friday night. police say 21 year old malik smith fired several shots that hit the car's bumper and pierced the radiator. offers her two suspect from narcotics arrest in the rear of the unmark car. now, police initially arrested two men, but the second man was cleared during the investigation. and underground fire forces evacuation of point breeze neighborhood, for short time saturday morning. it happened on the 1400 block of point breeze avenue. firefighters rushed to the scene and were able to put out the flames in two hours, fortunately, no one was hurt. and underground service electric line was damaged. it is unclear how long it will take to get fixed. >> in other news this morning, school officials in upper darby are apologizing for this photo of student wearing kkk-type clothing in a classroom. the picture which was taken last school year, now going viral. superintendent richard dunlap sent out letter friday night calling it a school project,

that went a rye. dunlap said it was a skit designed to highlight autrocities of the kkk from the 1920's. he also said the district is deeply sorry. yale university's menace basketball team has made it to the ncaa tournament for the first time in ever half century. whop overclaim bee an university 71-55, but the bull dose were without their captain, senior guard jack month hype, as kenneth craig reports, his departure has embroiled the campus and controversy. >> yale bulldogs senior guard jack monahue withdrew from the school on february 10th. two weeks later, the school as athletic department sent out press release saying woe not be returning. siting federal privacy laws, and school policy, a yale spokesperson would not say why monahue left despite campus rumors of sexual assault accusation. in a new haven register article, this week, the players father, jim monahue, said his son was expelled, called it ridiculous, said he

really, not many areas did. because a lot of us didn't even reach the ground. one little batch now, exiting the lehigh valley, moving into central new jersey, most of that not even reaching the grounds, probably had some flurries earlier across wilmington, southern new castle county delaware near dover, as women. and that's now diminished. still overcast skies out across central pennsylvania, cloud break up into the afternoon. little bit milder than yesterday morning at this time. anywhere from degree to 5 degrees warmer, still cold though. running around freezing earlier this morning, so the heavier coat certainly needed. still sitting 33 millville, wildwood, same deal in dover, newark, delaware, similar numbers now across philadelphia, and surrounding suburbs. starting to warm up little bit up toward the far northwest suburbs up to 30 in quakertown, 31 in allentown, so cool start to our day. still stays cool though this afternoon. now, spring officially arrives two weeks from today, officially 12:30 in the morning, we have 12 hours and ten minute of daylight, on the 20th, but it will start to feel more like spring starting

tomorrow. lasting for several days. jet stream on the move. nice big rig. is the sunshine, it warms up ten to 20 degrees above average. run of 70s, maybe setting new records for the middle of the week. high pressure area you see here key to the forecast, kind of situated just off shore. early this week, when we see that in the summer, that's when you get the hot, humid days, in late winter early spring. just warm, breezy day, that we will be dealing with later for the middle of the upcoming week so sunshine returning, monday, tuesday, and that sun really helps the temperatures warming up to the 60s even some 70s. today though still cool for this time of year. should be running near 50 degrees, not going to happen today. tonight, chilly, around freezing for a lot of spot. tomorrow though noticeably warmer, widespread 50's, even some up ear's close to 60, the farther away you are from the bodies of water. so farther away from the delaware bay and the ocean, good shot at reaching 60. so the jet stream still taking dive over us today.

place, westbound at 12th street. again, you are going to have heavy traffic on arch street a lot of pedestrian traffic too. just watch out for. that will if you are headed to the flower show, your best bet, to take public transportation, septa, on or close to schedule, except for their airport line. which is shuttle bussing between glennside, jen continue town and melrose park, due to construction at jenkintown. no delays however on new jersey transit or the pa turnpike. so, have fun time, if you are headed to the flower show, great show there. and we will move the traffic cam here. this is 202 at allendale road king of prussia. from the city to the suburbs. no delays on this portion of 202, in fine shape, with no traffic to speak of either. got to get little more traffic on the roadway, and onto our last stop here the ben franklin bridge. no delays or problems on the ben franklin. further up, no problems on 42, 55, the atlantic city expressway or the garden state parkway. in fact all of the area bridges are in good shape this morning. that's the latest from the cbs-3 traffic center. i'm inch avenue, back to you,

minor injuries, police say suv ran into the back after police wagon, at 52nd and chestnut, just before 5:00 this morning. the impact caused a police wagon to hit a cruiser. investigators tell "eyewitness news", that police found drugs in the suv. the driver now faces possible dui charges. >> "kyw news radio" live at the second district where the fallen officer was stationed. good morning, cherri gregg. >> reporter: good morning, rahel. sergeant robert wilson iii's likeness is very visible here outside of the 22nd police district headquarters, there is a portrait in the lobby as well as photographs. yes, another way to remember the man gunned down, a year ago saturday, protecting and serving at a game stop, where he had gone to pick up a birthday gift, for his son.

wednesday. low 70s, records for philadelphia, 73 degrees, setback in 2,000. so we have a shot at reaching that or potentially breaking it. here is the pattern, through at least the middle of march for the next couple of weeks, jet stream overall stays to the north. that means we will be dealing with warmer than average temperatures when you average it all out. still have some cool days every now and then. but overall, highs running well above average should be around 50 degrees, this time of year, paying way above that. forty-eight high today, clearing sky, little chilly partly cloudy skies, especially through most of the region, maybe dropping down to about freezing in parts of the delaware valley, and then certainly tomorrow, we will be noticing that big difference in our forecast. near freezing in the suburbs, tomorrow up to 58 degrees, mostly sunny skies, getting close to 70 on tuesday. low 70s wednesday, few showers around thursday. still mild. we cool it down slightly for friday into the weekend. highs in the 50's.
