but things are looking good anywhere we look ben franklin bridge, one of my favorite shots, looking gorgeous, as well, moving westbound from new jersey. looking good into center city. we have an accident, first accident of the morning, actually the first accident of the morning and it is still out there. doylestown pike near pine crest lane the vehicle went in the pole and we do have down buyers. if you can avoid this all together, i would recommend you doing so. we have some construction here pennsylvania turnpike eastbound between neshaminy service plaza and delaware valley, that left lane is still block. not causing too many slow downs because volume levels are in the the there but it can affect it as we get cleared out of the way. those taking mass transit, west trenton line is delayed right now, by 20 minutes because of the signal problems, erika, back over to you. we are continuing to follow some breaking news, this morning. two philadelphia police officers are injured when a car slams in their vehicle and takes off. >> good morning. i just talk to an employee of the coca cola facility here on erie avenue and he tells me he was just coming out on a break when he noticed that his carries the park car, the collateral damage in the hit and run accident that happened early this morning involving those plainclothes police officers. i want to tribe what you can still see on the scene. that is the cop car an unmarked cara begins the wall here on the scene at erie avenue and jet street this morning. the these were plainclothes officers on patrol when they were involved in the hit and run accident this he were taken to aria frankford, fortunately though with just minor injuries. now this hit and run happened right around 3:30 this morning, police tell us that the suspect vehicle hit the police car from behind while it was moving, and the officers then lost control, hit that parked car and then crash in the role in the coca cola facility at june yacht a police say suspect car then fled west on erie, it is a dark colored car with front end damage and still at large. police hope surveillance video

in the area can help give them a better description of the striking vehicle at this time it is unclear if that suspect vehicle meant to hit the unmarked police car, it is unclear how fast they were traveling but police say it was probably 30 to 40 miles per hour. now again, police were taken to the hospital, just with minor injuries, minor neck, back, and leg injuries. you can see that unmark police carries still on the scene waiting to be towed away. these are plainclothes police officers with the 24th district out on patrol when all this happened. police will be checking this area for surveillance video later this morning to help track down these suspects. erika, back inside to you. jan carabao, thanks for the update. now to a terrifying scene in germantown. this house crumbles to the ground overnight giving residents just seconds to escape. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch joins us from that scene with reaction from homeowners and they are just counting their lucky stars this morning, good morning.

>> reporter: they are indeed. all smiles here in germantown. couple tells us their home began coming down above their heads just before 1:00 this morning and somehow they got out through a side facing front door. you cannot see that door right the now but they did escape unharm. erin and lisa payne lived in this collapsed home for three years and they say they tell us they were down for the night when they heard a rumble a a would have their heads and series of booms and then ceiling began coming down on to them. this they were downstairs in the living room holding up ceiling fragments as they fell above their heads and walking out the from the side facing door with only the clothes on their backs and remote control to their tv. they, of course, are happy to have left unharmed. they say their home is very old but has been in their family for years and they say that this collapse was not completely, without warning. >> he said look at that, he said look at the outside of us house, it is really buckling.

three people were also injured, two of them critically. police on the scene in wilkinsberg described shooting as an ambush style attack. their by residents described hearing a barrage of gunshots, more than 20 in the area which is usually quiet. >> this street is always quiet. there is nothing that happens on this street. so to see that, it is just shock to go everybody else up in here. i'm shaking. it is pretty bad. >> police say four of the victims were found dead on the back porch. one died at the hospital. happening today, a man charged with shooting a philadelphia police officer has a preliminary hearing. police say edward archer ambush officer jesse hartnett while the officer was sitting in the the cruiser january 7th. officer hartnett was shot three times in his left arm at point blank range. he spent two weeks in the hospital but has a long road to recovery. new this morning, police in new castle county need help finding an 11 year-old

back right now with a torrential downpours that are flooding parts of the south. the storms now blamed for at least three deaths, and as cbs news correspondent don champion reports more rain is expect with some places getting up to a foot of rain by the end of the weekend. >> reporter: across the south, drenching storms are not letting up. in west monroe, louisiana overnight rising flood water made travel dangerous.

the flames are new out from this forest fire in marlton, burlington county. chopper three over that scene yesterday, fire broke out in a wooded area near cardinal court in marlton. late last night "eyewitness news" learned fire fighters were able to fully contain that fire. in word what caused it but about 50 acres we're told were burn. going to be another warm day to day, record breaker, any more threat of brush fires lauren, what do you think. >> the air will be more moises specially with that shower chance so it is less than what we had yesterday. we had very dry air in place, of course a little bit of the breeze and that heat combined together creates that brush fire threat but today we have more moisture in the atmosphere that will be building for late day but yesterday, wow what an incredible and warm day. 82 degrees. it was our earliest 82 or warmer day on record, we were 32 degrees a above average yesterday and our warmest high

thirty schools in newark, new jersey are using bottled water after elevated levels of lead forced the school system to shut off water fountains. the state department of epa says they found elevated lead levels at taps in recent tests. while the school's superintendent said he was told on monday, parents, they did not get word until yesterday. >> i was not aware. i didn't even know that until you just mention that had to me right now.
