hartnett taking the stands this morning, courtroom filled with dozens of officers, hartnett still unable to move his left arm, speak nag very quiet voice, describing the terrifying moments as bullets flew into his car and into his body on a january night. and came very close to ending the young officer's life. shortly after arriving at the criminal justice center, officers jesse tart net took the witness stands to testify about the terrifying moments caught on video, as he was ambushed inside his patrol car on west philadelphia street. i could feel multiple gunshots hitting the door panel. i then started hearing glass breaking, i could feel multiple gunshots hitting me in my arm. blood is pouring on my leg at this point, i can't feel my arm. >> he described that he was bent over from the waist with his head basically in his lap. he had his left arm shielding his head, which is the bullet that did the most damage, was the one that went into the

elbow, and out the wrist and basically destroyed his elbow officer seriously wounded described chasing him down, and capturing him. as he allegedly continued firing at the officer remarkable young man, even able to specific details down to trying to retrieve his corn yet after he was actually injured, just nothing short of remarkable. >> fouling the hour long preliminary hearing, officer hartnett's accused attacker was ordered held for trial on all charges, and his defense attorney suggesting that he might employ a mental health defense. >> i'm not a mental health expert, but we may call one in at a later time. >> now, at the time of his

arrest, archer allegedly confessed that he had done the shooting in his words in the name of islam, that prompted larger local and federal investigation. there was no testimony today about any terrorist links or any additional suspects, and the only testimony is that this the suspect never said a single word. as he continued pumping bullet after bullet into the car and officer hartnett. much more on a dramatic day in court as we join you later, live from the criminal justice center, walt hunter, "eyewitness news". >> walt, thank you. lockdowns have been lit dollars at three philadelphia schools after the arrest of home invasion suspect. police track that man down on the 4100 block of girard avenue in west philly. they say he was hiding in a abandoned house and jumped out after second floor window while trying to get away. swat and f.b.i. helped bring him in. no injuries were reported. >> in other news today could break more weather records pretty warm for march, authorities believe talking upper 70s already, looks nice on the skydeck, lauren?

it is, if i stay out here any longer i'll just slap on some sunscreen, feeling the heat today once again, even this morning, we broke some records, warm overnight low records, this morning, in philadelphia, we bottom out at 7 degrees, meaning on this date we've never had a low temperature warmer than that, atlantic city bottomed out at # # 5 degrees, mild start in allentown at # four, same case in wilmington, temperatures they are cruising, it is 78 degrees, right now, in philadelphia. mid 70s in the lehigh valley and low 70s down the shore, right now. storm scan3, showing us we do have more clouds in place than we did yesterday and some showers trying to work into the poconos and part of the lehigh valley seeing maybe sprinkle or two, but that will be a slow moving line of showers, eventually, moving in as we head into the evening hours, and overnight tonight, so we stay mainly dry during the daytime hours. high temperatures topping at 80 degrees. will the warmth stick around into the weekend? we'll talk about that, plus timing of tonight's rain

coming up in just a few. >> lauren, thank you. investigators searching for the hit-and-run driver who injured two police officers early this morning, in juniata. the driver rearended the unmark police car, around 33:00 this morning on erie avenue near g street. the police car was forced into a parked car, then crashed into a wall. the officers were treated for minor injuries. police say they're after a dark colored car with front end damage. >> this noon, the red cross is assisting nine people after a house collapses in germantown overnight. at city inspectors investigate, resident share how they escaped with "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch. >> hours after the big break, the crumbling continued at what was a home on the corner of ashmead and merion street. >> just heard a rumble and stuff fall. >> about 1:00 a.m. thursday, aaron and lisa pain had only seconds to skip out of their germantown home where they lived for three years as it came crashing down.

morning, and record warm afternoon, records keep falling all over the place, we will will have the temperatures climbing up into the 80s across many parts of the delaware vale, we do have cold front, though, that is on it way in, and we will move through overnight tonight. just how cool will we feel on the back side? we'll get to that coming up. for right now we are dealing with the warmth, and good bit of sunshine getting a live look on our "skycam 3" over spring garden street in philadelphia. lots of blue there. couple of clouds in the scene. kind of mix of sun and clouds across the area so far today. more clouds off to the north and west of the city as that cold front makes approach, but temperatures right now, despite whether you have clouds or sunshine, are just cruising, 75 degrees right now in millville. seventy-seven in toms river. a good beach day in march. 76 degrees. and in atlantic city up to 78 in philadelphia. mid 70s in palmyra. up to 78 degrees in voorhees. upper 60s nearing the record high temperature in mount pocono, 75 right now in quakertown, and 78 degrees, nearing the 80 degrees mark, in ambler.

do have little breeze out of the southwest, streamlines southwest winds flow continuing to your nerve that warmth, that is going to stick around through the day today. we'll likely top at 80 degrees, that would break a record high temperature in philadelphia, a mix of sun and clouds, with a chance of a late day shower, but better chance of showers overnight tonight, as a cold front drops in, still, mile, though, tonight, 56 degrees, our sunset time is at 6:03. so, some records, they'll fall again today. our forecast high temperature in atlantic city, 79 degrees, would beat the olds records of seven headed for record in reading same case wilmington, we will break the record in philadelphia, and we're just couple of degrees away in mount pocono from break that record high temperature of 69 degrees. storm scan3, showing us, we have more sunshine off to the south and east, philadelphia, more cloud cover to the north and west, little shower activity, spot any nature in the poconos right now, couple of sprinkles, trying to crews through the lehigh val think will be very slow moving line of showers, as that cold front

makes a slow approach. do have strong high pressure to control, off to the east, but eventually that cold front is going to new jersey the high off even further, and those showers will be able to work in overnight tonight. so, future weather is going to show us for evening commute liking mainly dry, showers are to build in particularly into philadelphia, and surrounding counties, after midnight. and then we clear out just in time for our friday morning commute. and then as we head into the second half of the day, a lot of sunshine returns, and temperatures, they are going to fall on the back side of this frontal boundery but they're not going to be too cool for the upcoming weekend getting a preview. temperatures in the mid six 60s, and of course we are springing ahead, sunset time at 7:06. as we look ahead toward sunday evening, but, even on the back side of the front, we are still in the middle 60s tomorrow, erika. and sunshine, going to take us into the afternoon. >> all women want to look young and fresh, right? but as we get old their get harder and harder to do.
