had been in recent days in the 6:00 hour. but it also means the sun will be setting later obviously here, so, 7:07 is tonight's sunset, but trust me, you won't see a heck of a lot of sunshine here today, just too dreary outside, although we are technically still gaining two and a half minutes every daylight through every passing day. back to storm scan, the here and now issue, we call it, some pretty heavy rain moving right now into the first state of delaware, also got pretty good bit of some heavier moisture falling across portions at least of montgomery county, so depending where you travel, running into some pockets of heavier stuff coming pouring down on you. and that's going to last us for the next couple of hours, look at the direction, more than anything, on the winds flow here. pretty decent breeze out there, but straight up on shore wind flow. that's going to grab the moisture it, will keep us in the clouds, and it certainly is going to keep things kind of raw out there today. this is the first time i've seen this, every single one of our liver neighborhood network, cherry pick couple of towns here, every single one

"eyewitness news" has learned that colon grew up in boothwyne, delaware county, graduated from chichester high school. police in maryland say a gunman opened fire yesterday at a police station in

landover, just outside of washington, d.c. officer colson was killed in the shoot-out. the boothwyne community is also in mourning. we spoke with colson's former high school football coach. he told us colson was a leader both on and off the field. the alleged gunman who killed colson was wounded and arrested. a seconds suspect also in custody. no word yet on a motive. 5:04 right now. suspect is in custody after fatal stabbing in rittenhouse square. philadelphia police say he attacked a 24 year old man early sunday. "eyewitness news" reporter greg argos spoke to neighbors, some of whom feel less secure than they did a day or two ago.

little weak ends by the senseless killing. >> i definitely will be more cautious. i think i usually a.m., but this is unreal, i definitely will be more careful. >> watching over your back little more, being little more cautious. >> as for motive, police have not officially released, investigators say there was some type of verbal argument before this stabbing, between the victim and the suspect. reporting here at police headquarters, greg argos, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". we are learning more details this morning about a five-car train derailment in kansas, at least 130 people were inside that amtrak train. it derailed just after midnight, in the southwest part of the state. emergency responders are on the scene right now, and the state highway patrol says 11 people have been taken to the hospital. it is unclear if any of the injuries are life threatening. no word right in you on what caused that derailment. it is back to class today for students and staff at lafayette college. the campus in easton, northampton county, was shut down last week after dozens of

students came down with the norovirus, the school spent much of last week cleaning and sanitizing the campus. school officials say there has been sharp reduction in illness. they still advise those students to follow proper hand washing and clean up. all right, 5:07 right now. it is almost time to start filling out those brackets to r march madness. for the first time since 2013, three local teams are playing for a shot at the ncaa basketball title, and they're all playing on friday, too, how about it? villanova starts its quest for the championship as number two seed. they had a shot to earn number one seed before losing in the biggies final. coach jay white and the while katz will try to avoid major up sweat they play unc ashville in brooklyn. plenty of excitement in terrible's lockerroom last night after the owls learned they're in the tournament. the owls made it as the tenth seed, also head today brick lynn to take on the seventh seeded iowa in the first rounds, than is where it could get interesting.

in the fatal shooting after suspect. authorities in los angeles chase stolen police cruiser for about an hour, as that vehicle zoomed irradically in and out of streets, and major freeways, hitting speeds of more than 100 miles per hour. the chase ended when police cruisers rammed into the stolen vehicle. that suspect was reportedly killed by police. a plea for calm after a chester police captain is wounded in a shoot-out. captain allen davis, a 25 year veteran of the force; in good condition. on saturday, police were pursuing vehicle near union and parker streets, when they say someone in that kerrigan shooting at the officers. police returned fire, killing one suspect, and injuring another. chester's mayor is prompting transparency in the investigation. >> so we're asking chester community, once again, to practice restraint, practice patience, and understanding, and once this is done, one we are through with this whole process, the truth will come

out. >> chester officials blame the violence on the influx of illegal weapons. >> happening today, a judge hears arguments from attorneys for the woman jailed for her role in a attack on a same-sex couple. kathryn knott wants her sentenced reduced. the 25 year old daughter after bucks county police chief is serving a five to ten month sentence for the attack in september of 2014. that attack was caught on surveillance tape. two co-defendant accepted a plea bargain and received probation. people in louisianna are dealing with terrible flooding, look at this, forecasters say more rain could be on the way. four deaths in louisianna are blame on the flooding and more than 5,000 homes have already been damaged by the high water. the national guard has rescued 3300 people across the state. new line every thunderstorms could bring more rain to louisianna and mississippi this morning. >> and katie, i know you're tracking rain this morning, but certainly nothing like what they are getting down south, right? >> absolutely not. the same system bringing our rain right now is the one that

was bringing heavy rain down in the deep south. so, you know, sort of dodging the proverbial bullet on this one when it comes to any casino of flooding issues, but we are going to certainly see major headache, since the timing is less than ideal. but we start things off by getting you out, there show you what's happening at the wider zoom. at the moment, louisianna in the clear. looks like they'll stay that way for the time being. we do have some heavier showers, heavier rain currently falling back through western kentucky, and tennessee, but the moisture here, kind of widespread. you know, everybody is at the local level experiencing something, whether it is a miss, whether it is just a a light breast he will -- drizzle or light rain, and heavier pockets of light rain. definitely isn't a location dependent forecast for the most part. everyone is stuck in this. at least for the next couple of hours. and, as a result, you want the umbrella, you you want little patience traveling out on the area roadways, future werth, jumping all the way to 1:00 this afternoon.

granted there will likely be few little breaks in the radar. right now when we are seeing the steadiest, heaviest rain, but because of the rotation around low pressure in the northern hemisphere, you have counter clockwise rotation, and the placement of the low, seeing, moisture fetch get drawn in, from the open water of the atlantic. stuck in the clouds, got the moisture to work with, will be potential for light rain and/or drizzle any time today, plus chilly sort of raw feeling wind coming from that on shore flow. now, even into tomorrow morning, lingering shower still evident on the modeling, definitely holds true. what happens then beyond that point, a nice little surge from the south, and that means, warming trend, so come wednesday, we will see nice little warm up take place here. and we've got 70 degrees days on tap. might be a sprinkle at some point during the day. then you have got saint patrick's day coming up. looking at couple of saint patrick's day statistics, warmest we've ever seen hit 86 degrees in 1945, however, the rain yes, sir day we ended up with over an inch, that was
