good morning, guys. >> good morning, i tried to stay in bed this morning, they wouldn't let me. katie, who are you doing out there? >> we got to get folks out the door here pat. yes, we will try to get you out the door with at least some information, so you know what to expect out there. you know not the prettiest start to the day, let's be honest. will see stellar sunrise, a lot of clouds, significant lying in thick here on the skydeck as well as just behind me overlooking center city. some of those skyscrapers getting skewed by the clouds. that said, you know, i was able to come out here without an umbrella kind of surprised by. that will there is actually still very fine mist, but it is not bad enough it messed when my hair. that's very much key, right? so let's take a look at storm scan. you know, what you see isn't always what you get. there is again very fine mist that's falling right now. so it doesn't show up on radar necessarily. couple of showers starting to pick up across maryland border, as well, and we might see, you know, what we would call straight up share as opposed to fine mist here before the morning is said and

done. you are going to get slowed down by poorer visibility, pockets of drizzle, having to flick the windshield wipers handful of times. so i wouldn't call it by any means what we saw yesterday. it is not as bad as a commute, but definitely slower start to the day out on the area roads. you will need certainly the headlights even as the sun's coming up. 46 degrees the current temperature meanwhile at philadelphia international airport. mid four's generally around the board right now, save for the poconos, one and only oddball out as we say. you are in at 42 currently in doylestown, quakertown checks in low 40's, so you know, chilly start to the morning granted but it could be a lot worse t could be colder than this typically our early morning lowe's bottoming out low 30's this time of the year. meanwhile, as the day progresses we'll rebound nicely on the thermometer. couple of peaks of sun, so clouds eventually starting to break. should spike to about low 60s here later this afternoon, again, it will be milder than yesterday, not as wet as yesterday, pat, but it is still not ideal. >> i like 06 ', with little

sun later in the day, i think we'll take that after yesterday's day. the roads still little wet. you mention that mist this morning, this is a look at 95 north at 413. you see the tow truck backing up, there is overturned vehicle right here off to the side. there is police activity in this area due to the overturned vehicle, as women. so coming through this area take your time. let's go to 95 north, ramp to cottman avenue, just out of the reach of this camera to the right here, it will be closed overnight, all week, eight p.m. to 5:00 a.m. right now it is open, just reopened, few minutes ago, so for now, no problems. but just be sure if you are in this area 95 north, and the ramp to cottman eight p.m. to 5:00 a.m. all week long. we told you about that diner fire, edgemont avenue in chester, can't really see it, it is casino of behind me here. edgemont avenue chester between 14th street and 320. it is closed due to the fire. we showed you the map though. it is not really affecting 95. it is close but not affecting the roadway.

also, right here, 95 southbound, at the betsy ross bridge, the left lane blocked, it is now cleared, i had a problem with that earlier this morning, erika, but right now it is clear. >> glad you could make it to work today, pat. thank you. new this morning, fire rips through diner in chester, the intense flames inside the grape leaves diner forces guests it evacuate. jan carabeo joins us now from the scene, jan, how is it looking right now? >> reporter: erika, good morning, you can see behind me live on scene this morning that the fire is now under control. and fire investigators are here trying to figure out what started that early morning fire. now the fire was contained to the diner here at 13th and edgemont. you can see whole lot of damage on the roof area there. the problem is that this is also connected to the days in. soy smoke got into that building, fire crews now ventilating the rooms. meantime, the build something still evacuated. leaving a lot of tired people here out of bed this morning. the fire stat dollars here at

the great leaves diner before 3:00 a.m. smoke and fire was showing when fire crews arrived early this morning it, grew to its two alarm fire, before crews could get it out t took them about 30 minutes to extinguish the flames. right now of course they are keeping eye out on hot spots, while this building there is days inn hotel remains evacuated. now, as part of the fire investigation, investigators are going to be looking to see if the smoke alarms were working here. we are told by the fire chief they received a 911 call. that is what caused them to show up here. usually they are do get alarm a fire is happening. that's part of the investigation this morning. i was able to talk to a few people who had to be rushed out of their rooms. they say they awoke when fire crews came knocking door-to-door. take a listen. >> i felt like somebody was coming through my door they was badging so hard. but we got out, as long as i got my baby out, i don't care about nothing else. >> we kept everything to the restaurant portion of the hotel here, we did have smoke

enter into the hotel, so we had that evacuated. we're in the process now of removing the smoke from the hotel to get the people back in that have to get back in there. >> reporter: now, the fire chief says the days inn here is used by a lot of pilots, flight crews, a lot of people have to get to the airport this morning. so they have been taking some people in to get what they need so they can get out of here and get to work on time. in the meantime, this days inn is still evacuated this morning, as fire crews remain on the scene here, for the lip, there were no injuries, as a result to this fire. no injuries to the fire crews or to the people inside. you heard him say that the fire was contained just to the diner part of this building, and smoke enters the days inn so they're trying to ventilate the smoke to get these folks back n we'll keep you to update. for now live in chester, jan carabeo, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> good to hear everyone is okay, jan, thank you. new this morning, close call for philadelphia police officers when suspected drunk driver slams into their

vehicle on i-95. it happened overnight, in the southbound lanes near academy road. the officers in the squad vehicle were stopped to assist another driver when their truck was hit. luckily there is yes not injured. it is battleground tuesday in five states, holding primaries. they could offer more proof of whether donald trump can secure the republican nomination before this summer's convention in cleveland. the steaks are high in two states in particular, which are winner take off for the gop. in ohio, polls show governor john kasich is tied with donald trump in his native florida senator marco rubio is trailing trump. we'll have a live report for you from miami coming up in the next half hour. >> meanwhile, the the head of the state troopers union is criticizing governor chris christie for not attending the trooper for sean cullen. service is were yesterday after none in the trooper's hometown every cinnaminson. he died last week after a car struck him on interstate 295. trooper cullen was 31.

standing by for fun. ♪ >> argument ends in gunfire, got into a fight, one pulled out gun shooting the other in multiple times. it happened about 9:30 last night, north 16th street. thirty-one year old victim was returned to the hospital but later died. police are interviewing eyewitnesses right now who may be able to identify the gunman. investigators also have a vehicle in custody. they believe it belongs to the shooter. >> and, emotional scene in west philadelphia as the community comes together to remember a teenage girl killed by a stray bullet over the weekend. "eyewitness news" reporter greg argos has the mother's plea to the shooter. >> reporter: the same west philly stoop where 18 year old nadge steel i lost her life, now the scene of love and

memories. more than 100 family members and friends gathering near salford and callowhill in west philly. balloons and candles in hand to remember nadge killed saturday night by a stray bullet from a gun fight a half block away. >> my daughter was innocent. she wasn't a perfect child. she wasn't an angel. but this time she was innocent. >> sandwiched between her two best friends. >> these are the closest people to my caughter. >> her mother pled with the shooter to come forward. >> i just want to know who killed my daughter. and that's it. >> as those who spoke to the crowd pled with the teen's gathered to stop fighting, and to ends the violence. and the love for nadge shown in the faces anteriores to gather the young woman killed for absolutely no reason. >> everybody, you all see this? everybody has some good times

confirmed ef1 tornado ripped through phillipsburg yesterday afternoon. the storm sounded like a freight train barreling through their town. several barnes and homes in the path of that twister were damaged. so far there have been no reports of any injuries. >> 5:17. we want to check in with katie. you agree? it is better than yesterday. >> it is, it is not the most ideal start to the day for sure, but it isn't as wet as it was. i do think if you don't want to take the umbrella along today you can probably get away without it. that said you do still have minor visibility issues, definitely still finding damp roads out there, kick start the day, but it does get progressively better. we haven't necessarily been table say that as of late. so let's go ahead, start it off, by getting you outside. speaking of ohio see things gun to quiet down for those folks. we are still tracking somewhat disorganized area of low pressure, as it is making its retreatment but because it is still lifting through it could still trigger, again, maybe lingering shower for us out there this morning, before skies gradually start to clear out. so you know at the more

localized level it doesn't appear as though there is anything overhead on the radar. you can't necessarily go by it. there is still just enough moisture that you have the fine mist like clouds are squeezing out fine drizzlement probably have to flick the windshield wipers through the course of the morning. visibility aren't ideal either. like the classic go-to camera for me. any time any fog to report, because typically off in the distance finds the center city skyline, just some hazy, halo like light offer in the distance, that said, do you have watch for the poor visibility issue. school day forecast, we still gave you a b minus, you know, we're looking ahead to some quieter weather and brighter skies, as the day progresses, as the clouds eventually break for at least little bit of sunshine. also milder day. 3:00 p.m., 59 degrees, we expect it to actually get all the way back to the low 60s later today. isn't this just something to make you feel warm and fuzzy?
