the driver was shot in the head. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch at that scene with more on the investigation, good morning. >> reporter: erika, police say that driver is expected to survive, despite being found shot in his head, at last check he was at aria torresdale in critical condition police have a suspect in custody thanks to a watchful witness who helped them crack the case. three cars left crashed and mash on the 4700 block of meridian street last night. a scene, 15th district police and fire fighters fund to be no ordinary wreck. >> they realized that the 25 year-old driver had been shot, within time in the left side of his head. they get the driver out, from the passenger side, since they could not open up the driver door, medics took him to aria torresdale hospital. >> reporter: keys to that man's mercury sedan still in the ignition. investigators remind you was driving eastbound on meridian

between torresdale avenue and edmond street. then he struck a park pontiac sedan and chevy sedan after a bullet traveled through his driver side rear window and hit him causing him to lose control. >> that bullet struck driver in the left side of his head and bullet actually ended up on the dashboard right in front of the steering wheel. >> reporter: an alert witt the necessary helped police put early pieces of this case together. >> a witness witnessed the shooting and saw the shooter, run into the rear of the property, one block away, in the 4700 block of lansing street. the the witness notified police, of what he saw and police were able to apprehend a 17 year-old male. >> reporter: once teen was caught that witness was able to identify him. back out here live, in word just yet on a motive in this case so far. northeast detectives are set to search that lansing street home, once they get a search warrant. we are live, in holmesberg, justin finch for cbs-3 "eyewitness news".

police in maryland say that the shot the that killed an under cover officer was deliberately aim at him, by another officer. boothwyn native jacai colson died when that fellow officer died during a shoot-out with the suspect. three brothers have been charge. police say oldest brother planned rampage and expected to die while his two brothers filmed the gun fight. the officer, who was not being identified said he did in the recognize colson since he was not in uniform. texas police officer ken johnson was out ol bail arrested wednesday charged with the death of the 16 year-old jose cruz. police say that beyond son was off-duty on sunday night when he spotted the teen and a friend break nothing to his car. he allegedly chased them down and shot at them. the police chief says all of those events go against police procedures. we have policies that deal with off-duty enforcement, that we all follow. >> only explanation i can think office they are doing this because my client is a

camera angle right here. one of the many camera angles clouded by fog. this is the blue route, at the schuylkill expressway, blue you route with the headlights going north bound right here, fog in this area, and there has been fog all over the place so slow down if you are heading through it. the boulevard, at the schuylkill expressway, this is actually boulevard at the schuylkill, the tail -- headlights southbound on this one, fog dissipate nothing this area but traffic is going to start to pick up. this is new jersey, 42 freeway, heading towards 295 and toward city of philadelphia a, this one here, it is some fog this this area, earlier but it is cruising right now but as the morning gets later and later you know this will pick up as far as volleys concern. the here's 202, schuylkill past 202 headlights eastbound fog in this area, it looks like it is burning off, accident northeast extension at pennsylvania turnpike off to the shoulder, erika.

just an incredible story of survival, a dog lost at sea for five weeks is how makes to it shore and is found alive. jan carabao is here with the story of luna and i cannot imagine how much her owners will wrap her arms around her. >> they have been itching to give her a hug and a treat. the dog's owner was out of state working when pup was found so man and his best friend are expected to reunite tonight. it has been a incredible month and week for this german shepard. she fell off board and was presumed dead, that is when the u.s. navy stepped in. if only luna could talk, she would have a tail to tell, one and a half user old questionnaire man shepherd lost at the sea for five weeks is now back in the arms of her dad's friend. >> never thought in the wildest dreams this would be a possibility, i would ever see her again. >> reporter: it was february 10th, about 2 miles off the coast of the san

clemente island naval facility, luna and her dad, nick heyworth were aboard the fishing boat elizabeth h, he was working, pulling in lobster straps. one minute luna was there, the next she was gone. heyworth searched waters for two days. he notified navy personnel and they search the island for a week. >> we did the not find her and i think she was just down on the beach, and that coloring blend in perfectly. >> reporter: five weeks later blue eyed pup was spotted sitting on the main road. >> she's thin but note me eighthed. whether he we got her she was not even that dehydrated. >> reporter: she was flown to the hungary air base but was healthy, and a gift from the navy, with a dog tag with the lesson they have learn, keep the faith. >> i didn't expect this when i signed up to be a a seal, i never thought this would had happen but this was a good story. >> reporter: you saw that luna went home with a friend. her dad nicky's coming back today to get her. he says he is overwhelmed, grateful and thrilled.
