and high society reputation. but why is it called the mainline? good question. nicole brewer has the history behind the name. all of that is ahead but first tonight some breaking news. american airlines jet that departed philadelphia makes an unscheduled landing at logan airport in boston tonight. flight 722 was headed from philadelphia to dublin. our sister station in boston wbz is reporting that landing was caused by an unruly passenger. the plane is still on the ground in boston. it's schedule to depart there at 11:30 and continue on to irela ireland. also tonight, history in havana. good evening everyone i'm jessica dean. ukee washington has the night off. president obama continues his trip to cuba meeting with the country's president raul castro. together they addressed reporters and said the road toward normalized relations will not be easy but it is possible if both countries work together. for castro that means an end to

"eyewitness news" reporter david spunt is live in the cbs3 sat center with more on this historic trip and the reaction of some cuban-americans right here in our area. david? >> reporter: jessica the president and mrs. obama just wrapped up a state dinner in havana. many cuban-americans are still taking in all the images of an american president on cuban soil. tonight one of those cuban-americans says he's ready to bring both countries together. ♪ >> reporter: members of the cuban government welcomed president obama with full honors playing the american national anthem after the cuban. >> today i can report we continue to move forward on many fronts when it comes to normalizing relations. we're moving ahead with more opportunities for americans to travel to cuba and interact with the cuban people report roar president obama and castro took questions after a news conference. irritated castro answered a question from an american reporter about political prisoners in cuba. >> if we have those political

attend, and instead campaign out west. the atlantic city mayor says there will be a week long shut down of non-search services next month if the city does not get state aid. mayor don guardian says the shut down will begin april 8th and last until at least may second when quarterly tax payments are said to arrive. police, fire and sanitation workers would continued to their jobs but without pay. they will they would be paid when the tax money came in. bill cosby suffers a legal set back in a defamation lawsuit brought by seven accusors. federal judge in philadelphia ruled attorneys for the women can see the case file from andrea constand's lawyer. constand reached a civil settlement with cosby in 2,005. he's now facing criminal charges stemming from allegations in that case. the judge says she will not rule whether a jury in the defamation case can see the case file. hulk hogan has another $25 million headed his way.

jurors awarded the money to the former pro wrestling star as punitive damages in the invasion of privacy lawsuit filed against the website gawker. hogan was awarded 115 until i don't know in damages last week when jurors found gawker libel for the 2012 posting of a sex tape featuring hogan. gawker does intend to appeal that verdict. upper darby parents face charges for their alleged involvement in a wild house party. police were called out to the scene sunday night. hundreds of teenagers filled the home noon the streets drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana. officers estimated 300 people were on the front including the parents who did not cooperate. >> he's obviously drunk and he starts fighting with the cops and telling police they have no right in his house, and it's his party,. >> i feel bad for the family. they're a good family. i just think it got blown out of

proportion on social media. >> the parents were arraigned on charges of corruption of minors and for providing alcohol to the underaged party goers. delaware wildlife officials are investigating the deaths of five bald eagles. those birds appeared to be sick and were found near tags worry in sussex county. authorities say one of the birds was found dead. three others died after resuscitation efforts failed. another group of eagles flew from the scene before they could be captured and evaluated. back in february a group of eagles was found dead in maryland and officials determined they did not die from natural causes. drones could soon be banned from pennsylvania state game lands due to wildlife interference and in one case a drone flew too close to this eagle's nest in york county. state officials say robots can spook the birds and alter nair migration patterns. lancaster online reports the ban could receive preliminary pap approval in early april.

new questions about water safety are bubbling up in the wake of the flint water crisis. philadelphia city council hearing today philadelphia's water commissioner defend the city's water quality and practices. an estimated 50 to 60,000 properties in the city have led service lines that can cause contamination. the commissioner admitted many homeowners are unaware. >> need to improve our public education and, you know, we're opening to suggestions on how we can do and how we can get the word out, that if you have led in your plumbing, there's certain precautions you should take. >> lead is far from just a philadelphia problem. a 2015 new jersey department of environmental protection report showed 37 wild systems in that state with elevated lead and copper violations. some say it is one of most desirable suburban locations in the country. we're talking about the mainline but how did it get its name? that's a good question. nicole brewer joins us now to break down the origin of the

mainline. nicole. >> the mainline. >> yes. >> this sounds fan tee doesn't it, jess. >> part of the western suburbs and runs along route 30 but viewer totter frick wants to know like so many of us why do we call it the mainline? it's a good question, todd. with an answer that's rich in american history. ♪ >> why do we call it the mainline. >> the mainline. >> it has all the restaurants, shopping. >> something special you wouldn't get in your neighbor. >> a lot going on. >> yeah, the main spot. >> why do we call it the mainline? >> it's called the mainline because there was a railroad. >> ted goldberg the past president of the lower merion historical society. he says the pennsylvania legislature issued a charter for the state pots first railroad system in march of 1823 as part of the mainline of public works of state of pennsylvania. >> that's pretty cool. >> it's a little history lesson. >> developed and funded by the state then later purchased by the pennsylvania railroad one of

the earliest in the country allowing philadelphia to stay competitive to nearby cities. >> if new york has erie canal, baltimore as the chesapeake, what about philadelphia? >> but once the railroad was built -- >> people were say, i live along the mainline of the pennsylvania railroad. now it refers not so much to the railroad but it's the town. >> i guess it starts on city avenue. goes out to berwyn, paoli. >> i honestly have no idea. >> from merion to malvern and all the towns in between the mainline still receivers to towns along the regional rail line carrying with it a certain connotation. >> affluence and nice places. >> money. >> old money. >> i think it's left over from the well that was here. >> because the people who could afford to live out of the city did. so that they can have more space and moreland. >> why live in the city with typhoid fever, lack of sanitation when we can live out here in the country. >> a century and a half later

new tonight a court hearing between the federal government and apple is canceled. the fbi says it may have found a way to unlock the i phone used by one of the shooters in the san bernardino attack. federal prosecutors say an outside party has come forward and shown the fbi a possible method for unlocking that phone. authorities say they still need time to determine if the method will work without compromising data on the device. south jersey boy is the area's newest kim fighter. today seven-year-old liam lindsay was sworn in as an honorary gloucester township police officer. in addition to fighting crime, liam is fighting cancer. he was diagnosed with a form of leukemia at age four and has been treated with chemotherapy ever since. >> just like really like police officers. >> he just wants to help people. he's got a really great heart. >> kids really look up to like

us like we're they're hero it's a good feeling for us and we just want to make him happy. >> liam had the chance to work with swat gear, even command a k9. his family hopes he'll finish the chemotherapy by december. one of the toughest things for a lot of new moms is losing the baby weight and one local woman determined to lose the weight she gained during her pregnancy set a goal. have you doria woo ill has mor more -- >> list tracy hess 50 tee-year-old fitness champion. her motto it ain't over it's only the beginning. >> it's never too late. i think women don't understand that. they think i'm too old. i'm just too tired. i don't have it. you get with the right coach somebody knees what they're doing and anything is possible. >> reporter: tracy started fitness training after gaining 60 pounds when she was pregnant with her daughter. then 80 pounds with her twin boys. her post pregnancy goal to get her weight down in six months. and that led to a new goal, new

trainer and new lifestyle. >> i ended up dropping way over 80 pounds. he says you look really good. why don't we enter in you a competition. so it just came from just trying to drop weight and to here i am today. >> since 19 tracy has been in body building and physique competitions but this year she received invitation to the arnold schwarzenegger of all physique competitions. literally the arnold classic in columbus, ohio. >> and stop. >> it's a prestige contest where this is as high as you can go. you can get any higher. >> one, tighten up your lower body g being the oldest woman on the stage she placed 15 out of 48 women. with the help of her trainers beyonce', steve and raffle gilmore. >> 13. good control. >> what do you think the key has been for tracy's success? >> hard work. dedication. and good people around her.

>> reporter: and tracy is one of those good girlfriends at the body dynamics jim in huntington val toll count if you're a woman looking to feel strong and accomplished. >> i was really, you know, not in a great place emotionally and physically. just felt a little bit lost. and i guess easiest to put it i find myself when i started working with tracy. >> anyone can do it. she's more woman than me. >> are you squeezing vittoria. >> yes. >> you don't have to be compet competing just want to get in shape or have issues you want to get yourself better, it's a lifestyle and it works in everything do you. >> well, i learn add few things from tracy. (laughter). >> not enough. i was way too weak, you guys. jessica, justin, i can't hang with her. she is for real. she is the real deal. those muscles i asked her are you wearing a suit? they are legit. hard work, dedication, diet and

we're starting to feel that change especially tomorrow afternoon. check this out. this is a cool time lapse shot from cape may courthouse. snow on the ground. clouds moving offshore the sun came out snow is gone. in a master hours that's what happens this time of year that. sun is pretty strong. current temperature in south jersey right now 40 degrees. warming trend has already begun. up to 50 for the high today still below average 54 where we should be. tomorrow going to be above average and look at that 70 degrees on wednesday into the low 70s on thursday. that's going to feel more like early may. chilly across the northwest suburbs at the berks county lehigh valley mid and upper 30s hanging to 40s around philadelphia but look at the mild area, dismiss, st. louis into the 50s this hour much that's heading eastward and we're quiet on storm scan3. here's what's left of the storm that brought the snow last nig night. up across southern canada right now. that's gone. we're left with clear skies for the neck several days. compliments of high pressure and where this is located key to our

forecast. it will be moving offshore. we get that southwest flow behind the high pressure system that bring in the warmer air there's going to be a front hanging around but stays to our north. we're on the warm side of this system. and with sunshine this time of year easily into the 60s and 7 70s. eventually that cold front comes through our region later on thursday night into friday morning. chilly tomorrow morning 8:00 o'clock we're going to be at or below freezing in a lot of suburb. you'll need that heavier coat you can shed that by the afternoon. sunshine, mid to upper 50s through most of the locations the exception is up in the poconos where we'll be in the 40s. and then look at wednesday. we're up around 70 degrees for trenton and philadelphia wilmington, dover, delaware, even up into the lehigh valley getting close to 70. the exception will be right along the immediate shore and near the delaware bay because we have a southwest wind. what about the long term forecast here as we head towards late marcherly april? we'll have an active jetter stream north and south. a few cool spells to deal with by the end of march into early april. but overall still going to have
