this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". total domination. villanova blows out miami to march on to the elite eight. now, march madness arrives in philadelphia. a home-grown star tells us his favorite part about playing in front of the home crowd tonight. >> first though, yes, we new it had to eventually end. after several days every just great weather, katie is tracking some rain this morning. she'll let you know exactly when you need that umbrella for now at least 63 degrees, walking out to your car, this is not bad, right? >> feels great, i think. >> i know the drivers are loving this, i know rain now, but you have been loving. >> and depending where you are, too, finding wet weather already. it is not everywhere yet. it does feel pretty muggy outside. a lot of moisture starting to get pent up in the atmosphere,

as a result of that, eventually those clouds have to squeeze out the raindrops. so matter of time if you haven't already seen some rain before you finally do. but that said, when you look at storm scan, everything that's out there right now is actually pretty scattered. further north you travel, obviously, where you are finding the brunt of any wet weather, just light showers at this point. guys, we look at the frontal boundery in its entirety, we zoom it out one more time here. the actual core of low pressure way off to the north. that's where you are going to find some snow, find the colds he is air, but you actually have to cross basically the canadian border to find that, just too warm everywhere else. that said, as this cold front crosses through, we get the light of day, may end up being a rumble every thunder. generally call for just some showers, that we do still sit in a marginal risk for some storms here today. and all of this really means is that, you know, the atmosphere is ripe. you may end up with localized thunderstorm here and there. it doesn't necessarily mean that there is any casino of severe weather imminent by any stretch. again, showers perhaps rumble every thunder is the story here today.

2009. they had very tough test in the third seated miami hurricanes, but, let's just say, they were up for that challenge. to the highlight we go. from last night, and ryan went absolutely bonkers. the senior hits tough baseline jumper, and get the foul. that sparks nova early run. later in the first half, archie hit the open three. that would put nova up ten. second half, nova would pull away from miami, daniel, with the finish. he had 17 points on the night. and then the route was on as nova behind 21-point from ryan, and 21 from chris jenkins. crush the hurricanes, 92-69. nova, would shoot 63% from the field for the game. and they're on to the elite eight. >> we have not shot the ball like this all year. we know we have good shooters. i do think that we're getting really intelligent in our playing together. >> pretty special.

we have -- come out humble and hungry this next game. it will be a big game, who ever it is, and we're just excited about the win. >> the opponents, the wildcats, will face in the elite eight is kansas who defeated fifth seeded, 79-63, j hawks are the number one overall seed in the tournament. and are playing at a very high level right now. and of course, the game can be seen saturday at villanova and kansas, 8:49 tip-off. right here on cbs-3. so, the reason that we are live outside the wells fargo center is because tonight the sweet 16 rolls into town. north carolina, indianna. you have notre dame and wisconsin, and we have cool story coming up at 6:00 on local star, played at st. joe's prep, his name steve, excellent, gatorade national player of the year at st. joe's prep, went onto notre dame where he is doing some big things with the fighting irish. the junior guard does it all, i caught up with him yesterday, to see how it felt to be playing in his hometown.

>> it is great. you know, i'm real excited to be here. get a chance to play in the sweet 16. you know, it is a great feeling. >> what's your favorite part about coming home? >> just seeing, you know, friends, family, you know, tough for a lot of people to get out to indianna, and, you know, a lot of acc games. just to have them here, seeing them in the stands, it will be really great. >> so steve, one of the unsung heroes from the notre dame fighting irish, will get to play in his hometown, in this building right behind me tonight. it should and great pair of games tonight. yesterday, erika, as you know, was national cheese steak game. steve he is a philly guy, so of course he would partake. he said, he told me, steve's prince of steaks in northeast philadelphia, his favorite cheese steak, obviously, he has the same name. so he felt that he needed to go with steve's steaks. but nonetheless, he is a cheese steak guy playing here at philadelphia tonight. and we've got the full story coming up at 6:00. erika, back to you. >> pat, i know our philly

right? >> absolutely, right. very, very warm. i know a lot of the blossoms out in my own backyard are starting to blossom. and, we're seeing certainly just very, very warm air in place here. that it feels so like spring-time. now our eyewitness weather watcher network has been in, you know, definitely busy here this morning, a loft temperature readings into the 60s, we'll check in with folks in a second here, we talked about some of the beautiful weather we've been enjoying, actually view from yesterday's sunrise, what a gorgeous day it ended up being, right? i hope you had a chance to take advantage. this came in from lynn. thanks for the picture. we go back out to the current observations take you around the half here, six of 0 degrees coming in from mark, he does have more clouds, humidity on the rise here at 81% at the moment. but still dry. 65 degrees out in chesterfield, where he had sped reporting, and he's got couple of clouds, it is warm, it is calm, for the beginning of our good friday also starting feeling limb muggy. down into kent county 63 degrees comes in from jason, he's in middletown,

delaware, where the clouds are thickening, and very warm start according to him, as well. now, here is the frontal boundary eventually will cross through. if you haven't gun to see any wet weather you probably will see at least something before this is out of here. but you can see it is somewhat scattered in nature. good portion of our area is actually still rain-free. though, again, it is starting to feel awfully muggy outside. it will take it time to get through here, so we've got at least through the rest of the morning drive. probably until at least early afternoon, for some of you, before the rain completely drops off and wind down. but then, high pressure builds in, and it is good timing. we've got nice weekend coming up granted cooler only going to top off to the upper 50's tomorrow. but still, nice pleasant day, sunshine, and then sunday easter sunday of course starting off with sunshine, starting to get new the mid 60s here, we tack about another 5 degrees on to the daytime high. even though clouds build, still expecting a dry day, next storm, holds off, thankfully, until monday. so rainy days and mondays going hand-in-hand hereby the course of the seven day here, but every day,
