good morning, a local teenager is fighting for his life after he is shot in the back. what the intended target or just in the wrong place a at the wrong time. this morning we are live with what police are saying about the investigation. a community in mourning, how hundreds are remembering a teenager kill in the hit and run, and how police say the suspect was turned in by one of her own family members. and final four fever heating up on the campus of villanova university, fans snapping up merchandise as wildcats get ready to leave for their next round of march madness action. good morning it is wednesday march 30th i'm erika von tiehl. i'm jim ton van. we will get your day started with weather and traffic with the katie and meisha.

"eyewitness news" reporter just continue finch is live a at police headquarters, justin? >> reporter: jim, erika, good morning. the police say that 14 year-old boy is fighting for his life and is now in extremely critical condition, at presbyterian, they say it is unclear if he was the target or if he was struck by a stray bullet. about 9:30 last night, 19th district police were called to the scene in west philadelphia. so far they have saw eight shots were fired from the semiautomatic gun, eight shell casings also found. there are two scenes one on the 200 block of north simpson street where shots were reported and blocks a way the on the 300 block of 60th street where the teen was found, it is not yet known how he got there. southwest detectives are now on the case and so far police

say that that their leads are vick and their probe they say this teen's volatile condition. >> upon police a rifle they found a 14 year-old victim laying on the highway, suffering from a single gunshot wound to his back. police transported him to presbyterian hospital where he is presently in very critical condition. >> reporter: also, remains unconscious, at this hour, so no weapon, no motive and also no suspects found at this point. police will go back out later today and go through surveillance video in hopes of the capturing some leads. erika and jim, back to you. thanks, justin. also in west philadelphia a man arrives at mercy hospital suffering from three gunshot wound, police tell us man was dropped off by a car around 10:30 last night. they believe shooting happened inside a home in the 800 block of cecil street in cobbs creek. investigators found a large amount of blood on the floor and bullet casings in the

living room. the victim is in critical condition. group of teens gathered at the scene of the deadly hit and run in pen august is a even, new jersey to pay tribute to their friend. sixteen year-old quason turner was on his way home monday night when he was hit and left to die near route 130 and forty-ninth street. investigators say the case was going cold until a call came in from a niece and passenger in the the car driven by susan highland of beverly, new jersey. turner a's family is grateful for that call. >> any they are going through something because of their actions and that 19 year-old that called the cops, and did that for us, god bless her. i thank her for that. >> hyland faces a list of charges including leaving the scene of the fatal accident and driving with the suspended license. septa police have located the parents of the group of young children seen on a cell phone video attacking riders on the the el train last week. the children who appeared to be around six or seven years old, were reported yelling obscenities, hitting and even

spitting on passengers. police say the four boys got on the train with an adult at second and market and disturbing behavior continued until they got off at york and dauphin. septa tracked down the group and connect them with social services. happening today, man accused of a fatal stab nothing rittenhouse square has a preliminary hearing. steven simminger is charge with stabbing colinmont govern, he was working when someone said something about simminger's hat and fight started. investigators say it ended with simminger stabbing mcgovern. >> also due for a hearing is pedro reading accused of a transgender woman keisha jenkins. she was found shot and beaten near 13th street on october 6th of last year. detective say that robbery was the motive, not the a hate crime. police say reading confessed to attacking jenkins but told detective he was not the trigger man. the villanova wildcats leave for houston today as a

i'm backing josh shapiro for attorney general because things have to change. we need criminal justice reform because our prisons are far too overcrowded. we have to deal with drug addiction through treatment, not incarceration. and use our prison for those who are truly violent. and we need to get illegal guns off our streets. i'm joining with ed rendell and leaders across our area in supporting josh. josh shapiro will be an attorney general committed to fairness and equal justice.

abington couple is victimized twice on february 15th michael and adrian graves lost their home in the fire. they lived there for 30 years. after the fire someone broke into what was left of their home so adrian's engagement and anniversary rings and a credit card. police say this man used the credit cards, they are not sure if he broke into the house. >> i was sent this for me but i felt like because i have been a victim of the fire, someone took the opportunity to victimize me even more because they felt like oh, your insurance will pay for it. >> if you recognize this man place call abington police. there may be more suspects involved. meanwhile a burglary suspect getaway a tempt is foiled by an iphone. police say ricky weston broke in the home on ashwood road in radnor. police say he stole the

family's suv while they were sleeping. the get this, an i phone left in the suv was tracking his getaway. find my phone app followed weston in philadelphia and upper darby where he was arrested. suv and other stolen items were then return to the family. terminex will have to pay a huge fine for using toxic pesticide that nearly killed a delaware family vacations in the u.s. virgin island. terminex was charged with illegally use methylbromide at the 13 residence and one resort in the u.s. virgin island. the company has agreed to pay the fine of ten million-dollar, and said that it has stopped using that pesticide in the u.s. and its territories. last year, steven, and his wife teresa a divine and their two teenagers all got sick staying in the resort in saint john's. right now 4:43. it looks like a nice spring day. >> it really is, there is no overwhelming factor in the forecast other than it is just nice outside. >> will we will take it. >> yes. >> the wind has tapered off.

a nice, quiet, spring day unfolding for us here in the delaware valley. we can expect full sunshine light win, high pressure anchored over delaware valley so that means it will be a nice tranquil day. all things considered, nothing will eventually shift in the weather department but for now, yeah, we have virtually nothing to see here across greater northeast region and mid-atlantic and thank high pressure for it.

as a result nice clear view overlooking center sit friday our station headquarters here, sky scan three throwing current conditions on top of that 40 degrees, north wind is out there we have a wind flow at any given point but not windy or breezy day at any stretch but it does feeler more like 36 degrees. the nice clear sky allowed temperatures to bottom out from ten to 15 degrees different on the thermometer this morning. colder then it was this same time yesterday. so, i would say if you have a winter coat yesterday you will want it this morning, for sure but it is a pleasant day. warmest day of the pack comes tomorrow and friday and, of course, wouldn't you know it they are wetest days of the pack. the as we track this cold front friday it will be a time would i suggest the umbrella and behind this cold front temperatures certainly take a dive here. by sunday likely don't break out of the 40's. a chill in the air by this upcoming weekend and we will start to gradually rebound into early next week. april fools day coming up

here, and i wouldn't mess with you like that, umbrella is necessary on friday. >> i will take your word for it, i'm bringing mine, trust me. we have sunshine, that is good news. we have very nice dry roadways but already on this early wednesday morning we are seeing plenty of vehicles hit the roadways now. overall what we have been dealing with this morning, no accidents to report which is great news on this wednesday morning but we have construction, most of which is just starting to clear now which is good news. this is 422 east and westbound near trooper, left lane both sides are block. we are starting to see that get cleared out of the way not that it was causing slow downs just too early as volume levels are not there but it is out there. it is all clear 95 south between route 413 and street road. that right lane was block. you can see flashing lights and cones but overall that is getting moved out of your way now. construction 295 north near 95 only shoulder is getting by and this is until 5:00 a.m. right at 5:00 a a.m. in a couple minutes it will clear out of the way. and more construction street road between philmont avenue
