twitter, ryan archie dean know and daniel ochefu kissing the view. their last, practice before villanova before their college careers wrap up with a national championship. our leslie van arsdal has been with the wildcats every step of their journey to the final four. leslie's live reports from houston, start tomorrow on cbs-3 "eyewitness news" as villanova gets ready for saturday's game with the oklahoma sooners. the weather roller coaster, continues. beautiful day to day, rain is on the way though and then some chilly temperatures. meteorologist kate bilo is on the cbs-3 sky deck with more on that, kate. >> reporter: jessica, beautiful afternoon, lots of sunshine but breeze from the south has pick up and that makes it feel slightly cooler this afternoon. with that said it is a very typical late march day, but we have got atypical weather in the forecast. first very warm and then weather change to go well below average for this time of the year. storm scan three shows a few high clouds from the west drift nothing. our system is a approaching. this next system will impact

us late thursday and into friday, friday morning looks like a round of showers and thunderstorms in time for that friday morning commute. in the meantime though warm air surging from the south. you can see yellow and orange down across the south and that is heading our way. right now feels good, 58 degrees. that is our high so far. fifty-six in reading. fifty-eight in allentown. notice, cooler in spots like wilmington, millville and dover thanks to the breeze coming off the delaware bay and river there. up and down temperatures is the the story as we move forward in time. temperatures today were right where they should be for this time of the year. then we will peak, tomorrow into friday. temperatures in the 07's, feeling nice but don't get too use to it. almost like an april fools joke, first weekend of april we will see temperatures really plumet, temperatures on sunday, more than 10 degrees below average and by early next week we will track a system that could bring rain and even maybe a stray snow flakes or two. i'll have more on that and how chilly those temperatures will be when i join you inside. for now, back over to you. >> kate, thanks very much. we have some breaking news to share with you.

we're hearing audio from the 911 call that led police to the suspect wanted in a deadly hit and run in camden county. susan hyland was arrested yesterday in connection with the accident that killed 16 year-old quason turner late monday night near route 130 and forty-ninth street in pennsauken. here's a portion of the call that led police to hyland. >> 911, what is your emergency. >> i was a passenger in an accident, a hit and run. >> they hit someone like a person. >> yes. >> or a vehicle. >> a person. >> was that in pennsauken by any chance. >> yes, yes. >> the person who did the driving, do you have their name. >> sue san hyland. >> what is it? >> sue san hyland. >> turner was a student at

pennsauken high school. hyland faces charges including leaving the scene of the fatal accident and driving with the suspended license. a good samaritan stepped into help as woman fights to keep her husband from jumping on to the tracks on a septa a platform. this is video from the race/vine station today month. man tried desperate thely to pull her despondent husband back from the edge when another ride's period and held a man down as others alerted authorities by pushing septa's emergency call boxes. >> just a fantastic story, about how people can help people. we were able to get mental health assistance for that man and the family didn't have a tragedy today good good samaritan received an unexpect reward for his effort, a hug from the man's wife. viral video showing a group of kid, cursing and screaming at fellow septa aridders isn't all it seems according to the parents of the two of the children. trang do shares what both sides are saying now that video has been viewed thousands of times. >> reporter: video that is shocking, expletive filled conflict between a group of young boys and a fellow rider on the market frankford el. the rider patrick coyle posted two videos on his facebook page. >> i'm or that i people had to see that and they are not savages or animals. they did get out offhanded because kid get together and they will get on it offhanded. >> their two sons are depict in the video with their cousin and aunt. riveria said she's horrified by the children's behavior but that a second video shows coyle provoking the kids. >> watch what happens. >> oh, now you are a tough boy. monkey boy. you know, if he wanted the situation to get better, talk to the parents. don't talk to the kid.

>> reporter: riveria said coyle followed boys after they went to another car and continued to record them even after they demanded that he stop. >> get that thing out of my face. >> reporter: in a facebook post coy le wrote his intention was not to get kid in trouble but would i like to see them get serious help and see a respectable bunch of kid that learn respect does in the cost a thing but disrespect can cost you and everyone around you so much. riveria says her kid are remorseful, she feels everyone in the situation could have handled it better. >> he keeps saying i'm sorry. i told him, it is a lesson learn. >> reporter: septa's chief thomas nestle said detectives reached out to the families of all of the kid and they are receptive to receiving help. in kensington i'm trang do for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". today president obama shorten prison sentences for one local man, vernon harris was charged with possession with intent to distribute and

possession office firearm by a quick felon. he is one of the 61 inmates who had sentence shortened by the president. most of them are non-violent offenders and majority will be released, july 28th. rutgers camden put the spotlight on student activism with its beacons of light conference. >> yes, event celebrated actions of student who helped make the university the diverse, inclusive campus it is today. doctor john carlos delivered the close ago dress. you may remember him from the 1968 olympic. carlos raised his fist on the medal podium in silent protest for human rights. he led his unit for 14 years but in just two days captain john darby will retire from the philadelphia police department. >> "eyewitness news" reporter walt hunter sat down with him for an exclusive one on one to look back at his remarkable career and changes in crime fighting when he took over the special victims unit. >> reporter: a predator tries to snatch a child off a south philadelphia street and attempt to abduct a helpless

victim. for 14 years, through thousands of cases like these, captain john darby, has led the special victims unit, investigators seeking justice for the innocent victims of the most terrible crimes. >> cases themselves by their very nature are disturbing, they are sobering. >> reporter: the captain proud that victims now arriving here find calming murals outside interview rooms, where often they have to share the worst moments of their lives. >> notice the quiet, no distractions. >> reporter: as he now retires, captain darby told me he takes victim store business him in his heart. >> we do walk away with the effects of working these cases day to day. there is also that, you know, that nagging sense that there is certain cases that were not solved. >> reporter: the captain does wish that the fairmount park rapist who attacked four,

murdering one over the past 13 years might have been caught during his time at the the special victims unit. >> i wish if i had my way this that we could solve that, those series of cases, before i walk out the door. >> reporter: when darby does walk out these doors for the last time on friday, he will be remembered by fellow officers, and most importantly, victims, as a caring, tireless advocate. >> i can walk away saying that we made things just a little will bit better. >> reporter: by the numbers, with more than 6,000 cases a year during his tenure, captain darby has helped handle more than 84,000 crimes. that is a lot of criminals behind bars and a lot of kindness for the most vulnerable of victims. along with his fellow svu officers, we wish him well. live from the sat center, i'm walt hunter for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> wow what a career walt, thanks very much. >> thanks, walt. still to come on

there today. >> beautiful spring day. i have a feeling you guys will like tomorrow better than today. >> not quite as sunny but it is about ten to 15 degrees warmer. >> yes. >> and it will be bright. >> yes. >> i know you two pretty well. you will like tomorrow. tomorrow is another beautiful day. not that beautiful blue sky we have been seeing today but breezy, and it is warm. the wind coming from the southwest, temperatures headed for the 70's for the next few days but before you start digging out bathing suits and flip-flops, not so fast. we have got some threat for some very cold weather, as we head into the weekend, first weekend of april will feel like a delayed april fools joke. lets look at is what going on outside right now. citizens bank park looking great with blue skies, in the background. only two days a way from the phillies home opener. so spring is around the corner even though at least part of the weekend will feel more like winter. lets take you up to the north to broad headville in the pocono region beautiful spot up there, i drove through there this weekend and it is gorgeous. everything is coming into

bloom. you can see a few budd on the trees there, pleasant valley looking great, nothing but blue skies from the poconos all the way to the shore today. the just a few high clouds starting to move in right now as our next system approaches. here it is on storm scan three you can see rain, thunder over missouri, arkansas at the moment. we have showers heading in the great lakes and that is crossing through late tomorrow night into friday morning and then we have a secondary system, almost an arctic front to talk about throughout the weekend. let's time it out. we will start off with what is happening right now. wind out of the south. these wind in wilmington 20 miles an hour wind, coming from the south direction. that is bringing in cooler air from the delaware bay into wilmington. you are cooler in south jersey and delaware then you are in the north and west suburbs where wait is not as strong. mount pocono at 18 miles an hour. but without that marine influence it is warmer in mount pocono then it is in portions of south jersey strangely enough. temperatures right now you can see how warm, nashville, atlanta those temperatures heading our way tomorrow. note thinks warmth in portions of the central part of the

country. eighty in wichita. there is cold air lurking up in portions of the central and eastern can inadequacies and that will be heading our way by the weekend. right now though, jet stream lifting to the north with that southeasterly wind invading a and we will feel nice and warm for next couple days. tomorrow is generally a dry day, a few more clouds then we have been seeing. thunderstorms across area friday morning. 8:00 a.m. another round friday afternoon. watch on sat take we have a system moving in the the great lakes. that will swing another cold front through on sunday, wind will howell behind that front and all that cold air to the north will be unleashed, sunday, well below average for this time of the year. overnight a few clouds not as cold, 46 degrees your overnight low. for your thursday partly sunny, warm, breezy at 71. eyewitness weather seven day forecast look at that drop 70's for next few days, 47 on sunday and we're barely out of the 40's early next week as well but calendar is our friend, i say that because we have a few storms coming through. it looks like it will be
