supporters that hopped on the subway and made a couple stops afterward. bernie sanders wrapped up two days of campaigning in philadelphia. he spoke at afl-cio convention one day after hillary clinton took the same stage and questioned his preparedness to be president. sanders hit back at tough talk about some fiery word of his own. >> it is not the type of politics that i want to get into, but let me also be very clear if secretary clinton thinks that i just come from the small state of vermont we're not used to it. we will get used to it fast. i will not get beaten up, i will not get lied about. >> reporter: both candidates are set for another national debate next thursday at the brooklyn navy yard. ted cruz and jon kasich are working to upstage donald trump in his own state. kasich visited a deli in the bronx while cruz rallied with supporters at the a christian school in upstate new york. new poll find 52 percent of likely republican voters in new york support trump compared to 25 percent for john kasich and 17 percent for ted cruz. stay with "eyewitness

news" for everything that you need to know on the race for the white house. we will have continuing coverage on television and on our web site at cbs philly.com. all right. lets talk weather now, we are tracking showers, it has been a mixed bag today, meteorologist kate bilo is in the weather center, kate, people wondering what comes next tonight. >> well, if you are out and about this evening maybe sun came out, you want to get outside and enjoy it, just keep an eye to the sky. we have another round of mainly scattered showers, pushing toward us right now. you can see the region is dry but take a look at this next little line moving through eastern maryland right now, right throughout the chesapeake bay region and there is rain here, rumbles of thunder south of baltimore. this will impact delaware. you can see scattered showers and thunderstorms off to the north. cannot rule out a stray shower this evening, and it could come up quickly as it may be sunny, clouds roll in quickly and then we have a shower, brief heavy downpours right over where you are. this will continue through about 8:00 o'clock tonight. you can he still around

friday afternoon nova nation should be out in full force at 20th and market where the parade is set to begin, they will continue to move east, toward city hall. >> our septa police will be on the scene making sure have been is having a good time and celebrating, with respect and also safely. >> reporter: and add oshay's and other nearby bars and restaurants hopes for that nova business bounce. those sports fans are hoping that the pros will watch too after seeing what a big win can do for a city of believers. >> i'm looking forward to the celebration, the nice parades, and becoming champions. we haven't had one in a while. >> reporter: now, mid-morning tomorrow your commute gets a bit tricky here in center city. that is when road closures begin along parade route on market as well as 15th and 23rd streets. if you are commuting by train and get lost or confused do not worry there will be septa ambassadors around to guide you and we are told by your friday evening commute, things should clear up with the extra

well, aramark will continue to serve up food from its world headquarters here in philadelphia a. >> today company announced it is not leaving this city, the mayor says he is excited about it. philadelphia has been aramark's home since 1961 and the company employees more than 1,000 people, at its world headquarters. now tonight on the healthwatch celebrating the beauty and power of women who serve in the military with a special competition, winner gets a crown but this isn't a traditional beauty pageant. >> health reporter stephanie stahl is here to tell us about a local contestant. >> you will be about to meet somebody very special. this competition is where female veterans are judged on everything from poise, knowledge and strength and leadership and one of the contestant is a veteran who is a trainer with a gym in montgomery county. twenty-nine year-old erika walsh is training to win title

of push up princess. >> i love challenge, and anything that, you know, makes me step outside my comfort zone. >> reporter: erika who is a a trainer and owns a fitness center in king of prussia was in the army for eight years serving at guantanamo bay and in iraq. >> is it scary being there? >> it is scary, at first and then you just get used to it. i wanted to serve my country. >> reporter: she did her time and now a student at west chester. and in her spare time she runs classes at her gym and they are intense. this is the it, just pull it up. >> and bring it back down, okay. >> do you want to try no. >> do it again. >> how many of these can you do. >> i don't know. >> reporter: she doesn't really get tired and she has a big heart. >> you know how people get survivor skills. my life is too good skills so i need to start giving back to the community. >> reporter: enter miss veteran america contest, erika

is a morning 120 service women competing for the title. >> there is, a ball gown part and i guess there is a part that makes you go back and put on your combat boots and that is where push up competition comes in in your dress and combat boots. >> reporter: they will be judged on military knowledge, poise and personality. >> it is not a bikini competition, there is no make up done, looking perfect kind of thing just that we are your average joe. we are your gi jane. >> reporter: proceeds help homeless women veterans and their children. >> when i saw this opportunity and it was raising money and a wearness and bringing, you know, light to females that serve in the military i was all about and all about girl power. >> girl power, righter case involved in a variety of events that competition that she's in october. how could she not win, right. we have more information on that veteran programs and erika at cbs philly.com, click on health.

through especially south philadelphia a could get hit with a shower or thunderstorm in the next few minutes. couple clouds in poconos at pleasant valley, and kutztown seeing a few scattered cloud as well. look at the difference down the shore, cape may courthouse throwing but blue skies as far as the eye can see. it just depend where you are, some spots will get hit with a few showers this evening, others may make it out unharmed. but you can see on storm scan three this is a large scale upper level storm system really. you can see rotation and what we are looking at the is another little piece of energy, a clipper system dropping down and rotate through the same rotation here as we get in the weekend, it will bring us threat for rain and even some snow showers, because there is a lot of cold air that will be unleashed in time for weekend as well. as farrah as right now you can see showers just starting to push toward delaware, also portions of lancaster and southern chester counties right now but this massive rain here just east of baltimore will impact especially kent and sussex counties in the next half an hour to an hour. future weather shows as we

head through tonight by 10:00 o'clock the showers move on out and we will clear skies in time for tomorrow morning. we will see some sunshine, here's 1:00 o'clock big time in the city, of course, start of the villanova parade and everything looks clear for. that we will get one, nice albeit chilly day wedged in between two not so nice day. not bad. you may want gloves, coat especially outside for hours upon hours. 50 degrees at the start of the parade, 52 at 3:00 p.m. world headquarters would we like it if it was 20 degrees warmer? of course, we month. we have to take what we're given. saturday we will see rain and snow showers saturday morning even into the afternoon. limiting factors with this, most of it falling in the daytime. strong april sun, temperatures in the 40's, warm ground surface any accumulation would be limited to grass surfaces. even fit is snowing really hard to get significant accumulation this time of the year. we are talking about the threat for the at least some accumulating snow on saturday. as farrah as friday is concern not too bad. saturday 43.
