that will the investigation is underway, clean up also underway. but just some very hard news this morning. >> thankfully in the weather department catching bit of break here. but the s word shows up again, snow on the way, in april. believe me it is not the most atypical thing, to be talking snow in april. i just think we're all sick of t we just want the spring to get here already. but, as we watch on storm scan3, residual moisture of the disturbance pushing away, actually wrap around moisture trying to survive, as it heads east, so, i mean, wouldn't be out of the which for some of to you maybe pick up quick light snowflake here and there in the north and west most counties specially in the poconos, but going to likely sigh this fizzle with time. now the wind, it is not cranking, but it is definitely noticeable. it is knocking good seven, l degrees off for feels-like values, that's why i show you those numbers right now. these are the values you want to be dressing for as you hit the road today. mid upper 30's, the best it feels like right now in any location, but as the day progresses, it is is just
6:01 am
cooler day in general. expect the breeze to continue predominantly out of the west, so if you are out on the parade route, you will notice that wind coming right down market street, to dilworth, right along the parade route actually, about 54 where we expect to top off. regardless, it is a dry day. and eventually, there will be snow to discuss. let's enjoy the break, i know it is cooler by comparison, but at least it is a break, that said. >> yes, it is certainly a break, all right, thank you so much, katie. good morning, everyone, happy friday. if you are just waking up with us, heart breaking news on columbus boulevard, fatal accident in south philly. columbus boulevard southbound closed at oregon, the southbound side closed again, that's at oregon avenue, investigation clearly still underway, along with the wreckage clean up. make note of that for those you passing by, you will have to use an alternate. right now the best one will be broad street. take that to your majors, 95 or the schuylkill, so broad street will be your best bet. but very rush shape, very rough stuff this morning.
6:02 am

6:03 am
video just spoke to "eyewitness news". driving at high rate of speed, doing 70, 80 miles an hour, running red light, she hit i guess a bump it, jumped up on the curb, sparks started shooting and the car was lick fishtailing, then shot across the road. that's when it ended up slamming into the building. >> police are investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a factor. >> a tip may have led police to the get-away car from deadly shooting in wynnefield. twenty-eight jerold man, died at a hospital, after he was shot behind a bar on city avenue last night. another man is in stable condition. police in germantown stopped a cash matching eyewitness descriptions, but no arrests. >> a nine year old boy in stable condition this morning. police say he accidentally shot himself in the finger. it happened in the bedroom of his home on south 32nd street. he was returned to the children's hospital. his mom took him there. investigators are interviewing other family members, who were

at the house at the time. >> in other news, today is the day philadelphia honors the national champions, villanova wildcats. >> the parade of champions just hours away. and "eyewitness news" reporter pat gallen is live in center city where thousands are expected for today's festivities. hey, pat? >> good morning, jim, brooke. you know, not every day we get to celebrate champion in the city. very rarely happens. have to go back to 2008 with the philadelphia phillies, they jammed broad street with a million plus people celebrating that championship. here we are in 2016. today along market street we will be celebrating the villanova wildcats and their championship with a parade today, that will end upright here outside city hall at dilworth plaza. it begins at 1:00. the villanova wildcats championship team will be celebrated for that amazing march madness run, yesterday, they got everything ready to roll out here along the parade route. and it is here where you'll see a glimpse of ryan arcidiacono, and chris jenkins, the man who hit the

shot, heard around the basketball world. i literally cannot stop watching that. probably have watched it a hundred times, still get goose bumps. they start at 1:00. they start at 20th and market streets, 20th and market street, enter dilworth plaza at city hall. all of the fun will be going on along the parade route, and then behind me, i don't know if you can see it, but they have the stand set up there, as well. so yesterday, i got chance to hang out with ryan arcidiacono, as he got his haircut. he wanted to look fresh, because he knew that the cameras would be on him, along the parade route. so he got his haircut. i went along, i asked him one very important question, in particular. >> so, is jay as cool as like everyone thinks he is? >> as cool as a person? >> yes, in general? >> ya, don't get me wrong. he is more on serious, as serious as anything, but he's definitely a cool dude off the
6:06 am
court, if anyone gets to know him. >> is he like a fatherly type guy or is he more like coach like? , iron fist? >> more like coach but i think he lovers to see the development of kids after four years, and he'll help them grow as men both on and off the court. >> so jay wright is obviously cool. ryan arcidiacono also cool, chris jenkins was in the house, as well, i got a chance to speak with those guys, they're very calm, cool, collected, soaking it all in, basically celebrities now. and i think they kind of like it. who wouldn't in this position? live outside city hall, dilworth plaza, pat gallen, for "eyewitness news", jim, brooke? >> thanks a lot, pat. our coverage of the parade of champions kicks off with a special hour of "eyewitness news" at noon, followed by the parade, liver at 1:00 right here on cbs-3 and on line at cbsphilly.com. jim and i will be right in the middle of all of the festivities outside city hall, it will be a fun day, so we hope you join us for all of the action. >> in other news, bernie

morning, we will take a look at traffic and weather together in just a moment. >> all right, first up, we have a look at your newspaper headlines from across our region. >> he wasn't even the intended target. >> the delaware county daily times report, 20 year old chris thomas was gunned down in broad daylight this week in upper darby. in a apparent drive-by shooting. superintendent michael chitwood says drugs were not involved. he believes the gunfire was over a woman, and the wrong person was struck. from the burlington county times, federal regulators have granted an oklahoma based utility company's request to build a natural gas compressor station in northern burlington county. the project would have little negative impact on landowners, and the surrounding communities. >> the bucks county courier times reports the fbi sees computer flash drive financial records and banking documents this week, from a willow grove home linked to joan brown. brown was the manager of six credit unions, shutdown by the
6:13 am
national credit union administration. investigators declined to confirm or deny an investigation into the credit union shut-down, was underway. >> and, those are few of your newspaper headlines from around the delaware valley. >> meanwhile, now, a check on weather, katie, what's all of this about snow? >> i know, i know. and, i tell you, not the most atypical thing to see snow this time of year in the delaware vale, i think we're all over it, we didn't have too bad a winter when it came to snow, regardless it is on the way. we'll get to the details, but isn't this a gorgeous shot? live look out overlooking neighborhood network, one loan silo in the distance here in the farm country it, kutztown area middle school. basically see partly sunny sky, essentially what you are seeing depicted in the particular camera. now, next up, see the bands of snow still coming in, just wrap around moisture, residual behind the storm system brought in all of the rain yesterday, notice how it start today fizzle in the last say half hour or so. so, even if you did see quick
6:14 am
snow shower, or sprinkle of some kinds, in the far northwest counties, don't be shocked by that, but don't bank on that lasting very long, there is another system that waits in the wings, though, one more zoom out, we show that to you. here it is, making it basically migration to the south eventually it will turn left, head our way, tomorrow it, looks like it is actually going to rotate over our area, as it pulls away. so, what that will do is bring essentially all day event, but it is through the daylight hours, so, the limiting factors of this snow to have chance to accumulate, pretty decent list here. april sun angle gets very strong, by comparison to what you have in the winter team, temperatures in the 40's for many of you, that in itself, you're if the diagnose to see snow stick and accumulate. relatively warmer grounds also factor. so with that said, because it is essentially all day event, specially through the northern counties, here, you might pick up a grassy, unpaved surface casino of coating to inch, maybe up to two, that is still just possibility, it really depends where the bands set up. but you might see quick coating here around the city
6:15 am
region as well. that said, all gone by sunday, thank goodness, still chilly however. with sunshine, at least, and then we look ahead to the early part of the week. hey at least rebounds coming our way, pretty typical daytime high. phillies home opener, shot for shower, right now i don't think it will have any major damper on the home opener. again we will be watching that for you, let you know as things evolve there. so keep our fingers crossed. >> sound good, yes. it will be chilly though. definitely chilly. guys, rough morning this morning. we do have a very serious crash right now, that's, the investigation underway, clean up underway, slowly getting out. way here. what you are looking at right now, where we had fatal accident in south philly columbus boulevard southbound, was closed, for quite some time, then it reopened, ten it closed again and reopened. now it is completely reopened. just to let you know, even in the southbound side, they have moved the investigation to the median. you can see them kind of here in the middle shot. so southbound and northbound lanes are open. but the investigation is still
6:16 am
going underway. right now still looks wide open here. probably a good idea, if i were you, just stay away from the area, if at all possible. you have to take it, you obviously can use it as they are open. but broad street, your major, the schuylkill, 95, that's going to be your best bet if you want to maneuver around. >> this just make note of. that will also the burlington bristol bridge scheduled to open at 6:05. so hopefully now coming back down, looks like it is, those of you in the area, vine, westbound looking good, eastbound where we are starting to heat up right now. and i have some more updates coming up for the septa and november a coming up in about ten minutes, first a quick break, stay right where you are, cbs-3, "eyewitness news" will be right back.
