"eyewitness news" reporter david spunt is live at the airport with more on what's causing the backup. david? >> reporter: jessica and ukee, nobody likes long lines especially at the airport. but we're seeing those longer lines good weather just about guarantees those long lines. the reason because transportation security administration screeners, that

number is shrinking. it's one of the most stressful parts of flying, the pre flight wait in security line that could be an hour, sometimes even longer. >> it looked like they were just slow as well. that her doing extra work. >> reporter: new data shows in one week last month, about 6800 american airlines passengers record number missed their flights because of the long lines. >> the security line like an hour. in the security line. >> reporter: date from cbs news shows the number of tsa screeners is down 15% from 2011. airport officials around the country and locally are doing their best to accommodate. >> we know that the line may look very long but there are many lanes within the checkpoints so even though the line looks long it ma not be quaint as daunting as it appears to be. >> tsa officials and lawmakers point out the security lines are just that, to ensure security. in a statement to "eyewitness news" a spokesperson said, the agency's number one priority is

get closer to this year's deadline of monday, april 18t april 18th. ♪ >> have you guys filed your taxes yet. >> yes. >> we have. >> i actually did it not too long ago. >> ever wonder what might happen if you don't file. >> yeah, what happens. >> stepped i was letter. they come after you. >> they lock you up, i don't know. >> what happens if you don't file your taxes? >> two things that happen essentially are interest and penalties. >> kevin is attacks attorney at white and williams in center city. he says you have to file and pay by april 18th or get hit with two separate fines. >> failure to file penalty is 5% of the unpaid liability per month up to a total of 25%. failure to pay penalty is one half of 1% per month on the unpaid liability. that's pretty brutal. >> i don't owe so never knew that. >> failure to file is fraudulent. the penalty increases to 15% a month up to 75% of what he owe.

>> scary. this is why we pay o on time. >> how long do you think it takes before the irs tracks you down? >> six months. >> i guess, what, a year. >> i'd say three years. >> it's not immediate. usually it takes several months. maybe a year. >> jail time is reserved for only the worst cases of fraud but don't expect to get off ea easy. >> irs puts a lean on assets. they could garnish payments that are owed to you. >> uncle sam will get his money. >> that's right. >> you can't avoid taxes. >> the only certainty in life other than death. >> death and taxes, yup. >> death and taxes. there you go. if you can't make the apri april 18th deadline there's the option to file an extension that doesn't mean you won't be penalized. if you owe money you still face that failure to pay penalty which again is one half of 1 percent of what you owe every month until you pay up. they will find you. >> they'll find you. >> they'll get their money. >> eventually uncle sam gets paid. >> uncle sam does not delay.

not this december because it felt like spring in december. january, february you start to think of those days when it's in the 60s and the 70s with sunshine. we've got that kind of forecast headed our way into the weekend let's get right to it take a look first at a time lapsed video from today. what a beautiful day it was at the beach patrol headquarters in margate almost looks like a great beach day not quite warm enough to park your beach chair on the sand just yet. nice day for a walk on the beach. right now it's 39 degrees in margate. the shore communities will stay cooler through the weekend thanks to on shore wind ocean water temperatures still quite cold this time of the year and that will influence some of that cooling that will make it on shore but thanks to big dome of high pressure centered over the midwest and the northeast. we're keeping any bad weather at bay here for the next several days even right through next week. any rain diverted to the north and also kept to the south suppressed to the south here where it in a bubble so to speak protected from any bad weather when you get into a pattern like this a blocking pattern it's similar to the one we had back

in march when we self days in the 80s. remember really nasty flood that took place over portions of the mississippi valley they get the bad stuff. we got the good stuff and we're stuck in an extended good pattern once again this week. so temperatures right now still 50 in philadelphia. but do notice some of our outlying suburbs especially south jersey already falling into the upper 30s and so a frost advisory is in effect. it includes all of south jersey really much of energy new jersey in general. all of southeastern pennsylvania and new castle county, delaware, that goes until 8:00 o'clock tomorrow morning all the ingredients to make frost clear skies, light winds, lows in the mid to upper 30s especially in the colder spots and surfaces below freezing tonight. so do watch for some frost if you have any plants or any flowers that you just want to keep around a little longer cover them up to name it won't be widespread frost but patchy through the overnight hours. gradual warming trend as we head through the weekend monday when it peaks notice a system just offshore that's going to kite cooler along the coast. then watch what happens tuesday

and wednesday. some of thighs cooler air starts to back in from new england we talked about this before. it's called a back door cool front you will feel the temperatures start to drop little next tuesday and wednesday but in the meantime next few days sunny and dry, cool in the morning. nice in the afternoon and a gorgeous weekend the one negative if there is one negative pollen counts very very high and rising through the weekend if you ever an allergy sufferer you'll need the meds for the next couple of days. overnight clear skies, areas of frost forming. 42 will be your low. tomorrow looks great. seasonal, sunny sky, light winds, 64. and take look at all this sunshine. 67 degrees on saturday. 72 on sunday. monday we're up to 77 and then gets a little cooler tuesday and wednesday but, hey, still pretty nice. like i said this is wait feel like to be a meteorologist in san diego. >> how about it? giving good news. >> beautiful every day. >> all very mild. >> we'll take it. >> thanks kate. >> lesley what's coming up next in sports. i wash i had better news. heavy hearts the flyers head to the playoffs taking on the best
