over the next few days. i'll tell when the warm passion and if we have any rain in the foreseeable future. but first, a teenager waiting for a trolley become the victim of a random attack ton night as he recovers from his injuries, his mother wants to know who did this and why. good evening, i'm jessica dean. >> i'm ukee washington. police say there have been a series of random attacks many of them happening at the same trolley stop. our natasha brown joins us now with southwest detectives with more on who police believe is behind the violence. natasha? >> reporter: well, ukee, we can tell you there have actually been three random attacks on innocent people just going about their daily lives. we spoke with one mother earlier tonight who tells us that her son was nearly beaten to death and she wants justice. >> i couldn't even look the my child, that looked like it was my child. >> heart pounding are heart wrenching moments for shantel sexton seeing her 17-year-old son lying in a hospital bed barely recognizable.

on tuesday, jaffee sexton became the victim of a random attack while he was waiting at a trolley stop at 65 and and elmwood. police say as many as five teenagers stomped, kicked and beat him unconscious for no reason. >> five or six young males punch him in the face and knock him to the ground, start kicking and purging and knocked three of his teeth out and leave him on the ground. >> reporter: just three blocks away, a day before, police say there was another random attack on another teenager at a trolley stop and a few days earlier in that same area, a 52-year-old man was hospitalized after a random and unprovoked attack while he was walking down the street. police believe all of these cases are linked to a rogue and violent group of teenagers. >> we need these young men off the street. they clearly are creating a lot of damage. >> reporter: jaffee has learning disability and just ventured out to learn how to catch public transportation on his own. he still wearing the scars from the vicious beating still trig to regain a sense of safety.

>> they beat my son to half to death and they had no reason to do this to my child. like i want to know why. >> reporter: well the motive may always remain a mystery as police believe these are just random attacks. they are not targeting anyone per se just picking whoever they see that seems to be a victim. nonetheless they believe that these are suspects between the ages of 15 and 17 years old. they think they're known to the community in which these attacks are happening and they want the public to please come forward to help them identify them. we're live at southwest decks to night, natasha brown cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> natasha, thank you the pennsylvania attorney general is taking a second look at the lesean mccoy assault investigation. 12 days ago philadelphia district attorney seth williams issued no criminal charges the former eagles running back or anyone else allegedly involved in a nightclub brawl in early february. two off duty philadelphia police officers were injured. the state is reviewing the da's

hillside. a smaller 6.2 magnitude earthquake hit the same region on thursday killing 10 people. pennsylvania is set to become the latest state to legalize medical marijuana. governor wolf is expected to sign senate bill 392 law on sunday at 1:00 p.m. in a statement the governor said he is proud and excited to sign the bill saying it will provide long overdue medical relief to patients and their families. with the governor's signature pennsylvania will become the 24th state to legalize marijuana for medical purposes. new tonight an extraordinary boy from gloucester county is on mission to help those with rare diseases. he's back from washington where he met with u.s. senators to convince them to support a piece of legislation close to his heart. "eyewitness news" got a look today at the the 70 piece collection which will be auctioned off next week to coincide with the philadelphia antique show. proceeds from the sale will benefit mount vernon acquisition

lemonade stand foundation which raises money to fight childhood cancer held its heroes family even. people enjoyed pizza and treats and craft making and a lot of fun. it was chance for of one to mingle ahead of our june -- our june benefit telethon benefiting the foundation. what wonderful night. cbs3 is once again proud to the stand for hope telethon thursday june 9th we help raise money for alex lemonade stand foundation and the fight against childhood cancer. it's a friday night sleepover for kids with a big dose of history. >> children get to journey through time and across continue meant all while wearing they're pajamas. vittoria woodill went to the university of pennsylvania for a night at the museum. >> reporter: grab your sleeping bags because ancient another venture awaits in the night. >> 40 winnings at the museum. rolling down their sleeping bags. a little bit of padding, pillows, kids are so excited. you'll see them later tonight

times lapped video. first stor storm scan3 showing e high pressure is located right over top of us. we'll take a closer look at that just a moment just a moment. here's your time lapse. another beautiful looking beach day but boy a lot cooler at the coast. thanks to on shore flow it's only thirty nine degrees right now in the margate. and it will stay about five to 10 degrees colder at the coast this weekend than it will be here in philadelphia. but again we have high pressure to thank for the nice weather you can almost kind of see how any wet weather any cloud cover is really diverted around the edge of this high. so it's little damp down in the deep south it's wet and even snowy back in portions of the rockies but for us, we're in the bubble of high pressure and we're lookin looking good for te foreseeable future really item which are right now 50 degrees in philadelphia. it's 48 in allentown. 52 in reading. cooler across south jersey i wouldn't be shocked to see patchy frost in interior south jersey no frost advisories tonight but again don't be surprised if you see it in the morning especially in spots like millville. 62 is the high there today

cooler along the coast these are i don't it daytime highs. we got to 65 here in philadelphia. you can see how warm it got in spots like st. louis and wichi wichita, nashville temperatures near 80 degrees and we are going to head that way as we get into the start of next being. high pressure overhead for tomorrow keeps it comfortable, seasonal, much like today. mid askings. we are right about 70 degrees on sunday. lots of sunshine and then monday, that's your warmest day when temperatures will approach that 80-degree mark so you can see the jet stream lifting well up to the north. monday is the peek of the warmth and we get what's call a back door cool front usually fronts come from west to east and this one coming from northeast to southwest. pushing in cooler air from the canadian maritime provinces and the north atlantic that arrives on tuesday. in the meantime, we continue to warm up overnight clear, cool starlit sky 43 degrees. saturday looks great, sunny seasonal this is spring perfect right here. 65 degrees for the high. sunday even warmer at 70. now both mornings will be in the

ninth but they fall by a score of nine to one. the washington capitals present many challenges for the flyers as they battle in the opening round of the nhl playoffs. the capitals led the league in points and nhl top score they are alexander ovechkin the flyer who was tasked with slowing him down, he is now out. sean will miss two weeks with a sprained shoulder. he suffered that last night in the second period when he took that shot from ovechkin right there. that means they'll be missing their best defensive center on saturday in amiga they can ill afford to lose. they'd hate to come back to philly down two games but the flyers did find some positives from game one. >> loved our evident. with came up a little bit short. we didn't come here to come up a little bit short. >> one-zero game until four minutes to go in the, upping, in the game. so, um, we were right there. >> our local champions were in the spotlight again today. on wall street. al all eyes on the villanova wildcats.
