this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news" this morning. >> philadelphia police officer survives after getting shot in the leg. we'll show you what we know about the man police are looking for right now. good morning, thanks for joining us, i'm brooke thomas. >> i'm jim donovan. update on how the officer doing in just a minute, but first, here's what you need to know today. it is your morning minute. >> dangerous city, a lot of guns out there. >> philadelphia police officer has a brush with death, when he is shot in the line every taught. >> i two people are in custody this morning, and now philadelphia police say they're searching for a third suspect,. >> this is huge, i mean, this could potentially save his life and the lives of so many children. medical marijuana now legal, in pennsylvania.

good sign. chesterbrook, 202, headlight moving in the southbound direction at route 252, what you are looking at, looking good, there line painting project i want to pull your attention to this, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. this week. so today, tomorrow, will be the blue route, both directions, the entire lent of the blue route. wednesday, thursday, friday, will be the schuylkill, the entire lent of that, then on friday, it is going to be the vine street expressway. so make note of that, because they'll be dealing with some wet paint. so we have to use caution around there. delaware construction 896 still out there. right lane blocked until around 5:30 a.m. jim and brooke, over to you. thanks, meisha. close call for philadelphia police officer. >> he is shot while stopping two men from stealing a car. right now the search is on for another suspect, "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo, live at penn presbyterian medical center in west philadelphia where the officer is recovering. jan? >> jim, brooke, good morning, this 24 year old philadelphia police officer has been with the department for two years. this morning, he is in the hospital behind me recovering.

we're told he lost a lot of blood, but is in stable condition, and he is expected to survive. in the meantime, investigators now have two men in custody but still searching for a third suspect. take a look at the video. this all happened right around 9:00 last night at the intersection of 59th and market streets in west philadelphia. it started when a woman flagged down 24 year old officer james mccullough and his partner, she told them two men were trying to steel her car. now, as the officers approached, the two suspect got out that far car, took off. police say officer mccullough tackled one of the men, was immediately shot in the leg, as that suspect ran away again, police say officer mccullough then returned fire, shooting three times. now, those two suspect were eventually caught by other officers. officer mccullough meanwhile helped save his own life. take a listen. >> it is important to point out that he apply a tourniquet himself, because he was bleeding profusely, and his partner went to his aid, brought him to the hospital. >> it is a dangerous city. dangerous city, a lot of guns

out there. so we got to get the guns offer the street, make sure that our officers are safe, our citizens are safe so we're in good shape. >> reporter: the police department just really relieved and thankful that we're not talking about something more serious this morning, officer mccullough behind me here at penn press by tear ya, recovering from gunshot wound, again, expected to survive. meantime, police are searching for that third suspect. described as having short dread lock, last seen with white writing on the back every his shoulder is, anyone with information is asked to call police. report live outside pen presbyterian, jan carabeo, brooke, jim, back into you. >> cumberland county prosecutors say robbery suspect died in a police involved shooting shooting in v. >> richard bar, jr., he can changed gunfire with police before fatally shot early sunday. prosecutors say barred and another suspect robbed a man, near seventh and cherry street. a chase ended near east avenue

and almond street. police continue searching for the other suspect, the robbery victim is in stable condition. >> philadelphia police continue to look for a motive after a shooting in kensington that killed three people and hurt a fourth. police say a 46 year old man barricaded himself in a house on the 500 block of east westmoreland street sunday morning. investigators say, one of the victims killed is the suspect's brother. and another was the brother's girlfriend. the other man killed not yet identified. >> the time 5:37. in business news this morning, there could be a new face on us currency. but it is not the dollar bill that you think. >> and, how oil prices are responding after producers failed to reach an agreement over the weekend. money watch's hena daniels joins us live from the new york stock exchange, hi, hena. happy mo n day, oil prices fell, after major oil producers fail to reach an agreement on topping

target to draw in wealthier customers. >> and amazon is giving netflix a run for its money. amazon is reportedly rolling out a stand alone streaming service. it will cost $9 a month and users won't have to pay the current $99 a year for prime if they just want to stream movies and shows. the less expensive amazon feature comes as netflix is moving its customers to higher subscription rates. brooke, jim? >> thanks, hena. meanwhile, philadelphia police confiscate dozens of illegal vehicles and dirt bikes across the city. they seized 60 atv's and dirt bikes yesterday as part of city-wide initiative. officers also made three are he was charges including narcotics violations anal looting police. police say these illegal ride remembers tearing up baseball fields, ruining parks, and hurting people. in two month, police have seized about 200 atv's and dirt bikes, if you see anyone riding around in the city call police. >> thousands of athletes are

taking part in the 120th annual boston marathon today. >> now, last minute preparations are underway for the 26.2-mile race, it begins at 6:50 this morning, security will be tight, as nearly a million spectators are expected to line the streets cheering on runners along the course. this is the third race since the 2013 bombings that killed three people and injured more than 260 others. >> now, this image of boston marathon bombing survivor jeff, being wheeled away after losing both his legs, captured the world's attention, the new jersey native wrote a book about that day, and his recovery. and now, that memoir, stronger, is going to be a movie, staring jake. >> hope out there, positivity out there, you know, given the state of the worlds as it is, most important thing that we can do, and i know both of us feel that responsibility. >> he's been in boston for more than a month filming the movie stronger. the film is expected to hit theatres sometime next year. and brooke will get a ticket.
