on the cbs-3 healthwatch, an experimental drug that is now being tested on children, with brain cancer. imagine, being the first family to try it, decide to go let your child being a begin i pig. health reporter stephanie stahl, introduces us to that little girl. >> reporter: allison slide is beating brain cancer after being the first child to test a drug that is used to treat adults with melanoma. >> obviously the question was if the drug works in skin cancer will it work in brain tumors. >> reporter: just before allison's fifth the birthday she was diagnosed with seven metastatic brain tumors. following surgery doctors determine her cancer had a mutation also found in some skin cancer patients for whom there is a high liz successful drug. but no child, let alone one with brain cancer had ever taken it. >> it was pretty scary, actually. we want nothing but the best for our kids. we want new, we want cutting edge. but it is also very tough
