showers as we start the weekend, coming up, when the skies will clear for your outdoor plans. today is saturday april 23rd, good morning thanks for being are being with us. let's go over to justin drabick tracking these showers but you say they won't stick around for long. >> of course, it is on a weekend. we do need some rain. the it is is next few hours and then gets better best case scenario. >> good timing. second half of the weekend turns out nice but even this afternoon looks pretty good. we will go outside, right now live look from our roof camera, you can see gray overcast skies, lower clouds, at times, 62 degrees. it is mile. light wind. but that wind switches out of the north and brings in a cooler air mass but there is what is left of the showers right now, not a whole lot though in philadelphia, only .3 of an inch, through the overnight hours but some steady, light rain across berks county at this hour and

we are catching a break in south jersey and delaware, but these showers do break up, give us until nine or 10:00 o'clock this morning and most of the area will begin to dry out. lower 60's all the way up from the lehigh valley down to south jersey right now. fifty-two in mount pocono, suburbs. same situation with the cloud. so lets break down your day, 7:00 o'clock, still below 60's. off an on showers. we will see a few peaks of sun north and west in the city. but in the afternoon increasing sunshine, back to the lower 70's around, philadelphia, and mid 60's at the shore, you guys probably won't see the sunshine until later this afternoon, and then up in the poconos high in the upper 50's. we will see a really nice sunday forecast and then another warming trend for next week. seven day forecast in just a few minutes. back to you. >> thanks, justin. pennsylvania and delaware at their center of attention in campaign 2016. with both states holding primaries on tuesday, presidential candidates, and a former president will be making local stops today.

"eyewitness news" reporter a neat a oh is live from the cbs-3 stat center to tell us who already where, good morning. >> reporter: candidates continue to make stops in the area to pitch their supporters and gain some new ones along the way. this is, of course, all ahead of the primary next week. delaware and pennsylvania are both on the foreground this weekend for democratic presidential candidates and their supporters. at 4:30 this afternoon vermont senator bernie sanders is expect to hold a rally at the chase center on the river front in wilmington, delaware. both clintons also campaigning in the region as former president bill clinton stops at swarthmore school this delaware county this morning. a few hours later he will be join by mark kelly and former congress woman gabby giffords critically shot during an assassination attempt in 2011. the three of spoken together before in an effort to combat gun violence.

disturbing. >> reporter: dana a jordan's walk to work has become much more unnerving on the heels of the attempted sexual assault that occurred on along her normal path. >> fight of her life. >> reporter: police say a 19 year-old woman found herself in the fierce fight with the man trying to rape her. she was walking home wednesday at 1:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of wharton street when she noticed a man following her. detectives say that is when she quickly grabbed her mace. >> she was aware that she was being a follow. she thought she was. as a precaution she took it out. if it wasn't for that, who knows what would have happened. >> reporter: surveillance video provided police with clear images of the suspect, also a glimpse of the victim struggle, her hand seen here around the suspect's neck. >> the man rush up behind her, tackled her to the ground and he pulled her dress down off the top of her dress he pulled down exposing her. she managed to fight him off and pepper spray him at which time he fled. >> reporter: police began

killed while jogging near his home in robbins villone tuesday. no charges have been filed against the driver whom police identified as a robbinsville high school student. students at a delaware school are mourning a classmate who died after being assaulted in the bathroom a allegedly by other students. "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan has more on the investigation from wilmington. >> reporter: for the second evening the community has come together around howard high school of technology in wilmington where 16 user old amy joyner francis died after an attack in the girls bathroom. >> because it is like, something like this has to happen for people to actually realize what they are doing to themselves and for them not to help that girl is just crazy because y'all letting this happen, y'all letting them happen. >> reporter: officials a say two girls were involve in the a salt and took the tenth grader's life on thursday morning. so far no official word on how

memorable. >> reporter: shemaris working with a 3-d print could go to develop a prototype of the phone case and hopes to license it to sell. on the campus of penn state abington i'm trang do for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". good stuff, congrats to him. good saturday morning. little dreary start to the day but don't worry we will get this rain out of here litter this morning and turns out to be a nice afternoon. we will bring in sunshine in the second half of the weekend really pleasant for the second half, of april but lets check with our weather watchers. this is the rain that we're getting. we are not getting a whole lot but we had heavier downpours from the overnight depending on where your location is but blue bell right now jerry checks in at 59, it is a mild start to the saturday in newark delaware. delores at 61. lower 60's here in philadelphia a a in chesterfield, new jersey 60 degrees. same deal in medford, new jersey at andrew's house. chester county, fran cooler at 56. everybody else in the the lower 60's even up toward lehigh valley. we did have a little bit of

rain throughout the overnight hours. actually over half inch of rain in medford as you get stuck under a heavier shower. delran, alan at .45 inches. but here in philadelphia less than a tenth of an inch, only .3 of an inch officially at philadelphia international airport. at least this is something from the dry stretch that we had but we have more rain coming at us in the seven day forecast. lets go outside right now, dreary, waking up, looking out the window, ugly for your sat the day morning but we will get rid of the clouds and showers as we are looking across the delaware river. cannot even see the sky line this morning. is there areas of some reduced visibility, pretty muggy outside but later this afternoon we will get a cold front moving through here and we will see clearing skies, happening across central pennsylvania and williamsport so that is heading our way. the eventually we will get some sunshine late in the day and even in south the jersey, light rain showers, berks county, lancaster county moving through chester county and even through the city, so give it another three hours or so, nine or 10:00 o'clock, and

then we will see dry air moving in. we will need rain, it is march y of 3 inches below average. last measurable rain coming into today was april 12th. we were in the nice dry stretch. front clears later this afternoon we will dry out, we are back to sunshine, temperatures still hield in the lower 70's. the cooler air mass builds in tonight and gets chilly. tomorrow's high where they should be mid to upper 60's. maybe close to 70 degrees and as we head toward monday, we're starting to warm things up again, and then a little bit humid as well, upper 70's maybe pushing 80 degrees in some locations. 9:00 o'clock still left over showers from the city on south and east, we will take it longer to move off shore across eastern new jersey. two or 3:00 o'clock we will see sunshine returning and by end of the the day we should have a nice sunset throughout the entire region. that sets up a clear night tonight, that means cooler temperatures, some locations may drop down to the 30's and then abundant sunshine coming at us before the entire day on

sunday. upper 60's to lower 07's this afternoon. tonight 40's and even 30's in the colder suburbs, it is interior south jersey and lehigh valley and then tomorrow noticeably cooler then today but right where it should be for this time of the year and it will feel warm with that full strong late april sunshine. early morning showers today, clearing skies for the afternoon. 72 degrees. nice north wind ten to 15, pushes out that rain we have been dealing with the past 24 hours. chilly tonight, 45 for the low, with the clear skies, and we will keep that north breeze around at 10 miles an hour, looking ahead to next week for election day pennsylvania, delaware primary, we are going to be dodging showers and thunderstorms potentially high temperatures pretty mild, in the lower 70's. lower 70's today, upper 60's tomorrow, back the to the upper 70's on monday and tuesday, the showers, thunderstorm, lower 70's and comfortable conditions for the second half of the next week. sixty's to about 70 and then

maybe more showers around by friday. good news rahel to get some rain in here as we certainly do need it. >> it feels like april. >> it does. >> all right, justin, thanks. on the cbs-3 healthwatch, crowd funding, it is hot new way to help pay for everything from honeymoon toss business ideas to bills, and now, some pregnant woman are turning to it to finance their maternity leave. health reporter stephanie he stall tells us about the new trend. >> kyland grace is her name. >> reporter: katie simons can't wait to put these on her little girl. the she's in the due until may 12th but forced to take early leave to avoid a premature delivery. >> money is not coming in and it is scary. >> reporter: on top of that she's going through divorce, that is young children and like many people does not get paid maternity leave. co-workers convinced her to start a go fund me page. >> you have bills that still keep coming. they don't put our bills on leave. >> reporter: only 12 percent of the people working in the private sector get a paid

to our saturday morning but i have some good news. we will see sunshine returning and in the second half of the weekend it is awesome but even today it turns out to be a nice day, just a a slow start to the day and get with the dreary skies right now and off and on shores. outside right now it is mild, every where a cross the region, 53 in the poconos. lower 60's around philadelphia and south jersey, atlantic city, light wind will kick up later this afternoon out of the north as skies clear out. here's another batch of the rain north and west of the city moving through lehigh valley, berks county. give it other two or three hours and it will push through the city. mid to late morning we will be under the gun for some showers and clearing skies for the afternoon. it will take a little longer to get that clearing and dryer air in across eastern new jersey and southern delaware. look at the temperatures, all the way up from the lehigh valley down to south jersey in the lower 60's. six 3 degrees in capitol city delaware. we are low 60es a, still some

was killed in her bed with the four day old right there. >> now, authorities are not sure how many killers took part in the slayings. they say there is in specific threat to the community. police say a pair of shootingness northeastern georgia has ended with the a alleged gunman killing himself. investigators believe that the shootings stemmed from a domestic dispute, that left three men and two women dead. cbs affiliate wrgw quotes the sheriff's office says wayne haas snapped after he found out his wife was divorcing him. deputies say the gun man went home, set his house on fire and then shot himself in his garage. investigators in minneapolis are trying to figure out what caused the death of the legendary pop star, prince. an autopsy was performed friday but it could take days or weeks before the test results are known. meanwhile fans around the world continue to mourn. cbs news reporter omar

villafranca has more from prince's home in minnesota. >> reporter: we are learning more about the final hours of the prince's life. the 57 year-old mega star who had millions of fans died all alone in his sprawling home in studio compound. >> there were no obvious signs of trauma. >> reporter: local sheriff says prince was last seen at about 8:00 wednesday evening, when friend dropped him off at home. worried employees could not reach prince thursday morning, and eventually found him fully clothed and slumped inside an elevator in the first floor. it is not known how long he had been dead. >> we have no reason to believe that at this point this was a suicide. >> reporter: prince's body was released to his family following a four hour long autopsy on friday. the mood here at prince's paisley park estate is somber as fans showed their love and say good bye. >> i cannot imagine what life is life is like after prince now. >> reporter: since word of the prince's death, thousands have

lehigh county, eventually northampton county and this will role through the city. and then we will see clearing skies happening, across north central pennsylvania dew point temperatures are running high. it does feel muggy from the city on southward. it starts to feel humid. but it is dryer to the north and west. that dryer air mass continues to push in southward, through date today. we do have abnormally dry conditions for, montgomery, bucks county up through northern new jersey, and again this is a problem. we will get more rainfall in the next several days. pollen report, still on the high side, oak, burch, mapel main pollens outside right now. even with the showers around this morning and this afternoon it is still high. we will kick up the whip. high levels continue tomorrow, into next week. so later this afternoon, cold front will move off shore, we will break up the cloud, the showers, coming to an even. high pressure build in tonight, and then, it is
