icon was worth millions but did not have a will. so what happens if you die without make your final wishes known? good question. nicole brewer gets the answer but we begin tonight with another question that's been on our mind. what happened to spring? >> really. >> good evening, i'm jessica dean. >> i'm ukee washington. gloomy, chilly finish to the week and now we're tracking rain for the weekend. kate, there are a lot of outdoor events this weekend. >> a lot of outdoor events indeed and it looks like especially the ones on sunday not going to be the best weather unfortunately especially for the folks running broad street. we'll in depth broad street forecast in just bit. first i want to show you what's happening right now if anyone is out and about this evening the heaviest rain is staying off to our north but notice we are still tracking a batch of showers moving through mainly through new jersey and delaware at the moment. let's zoom in and take peek at what we're dealing with again a couple of scattered showers in new castle counsel fee also over south jersey and up around the trenton area and that's not all we'll see. more showers as we head through the overnight hours and then a stronger system back to the west

and that one will get here on sunday. in the meantime, it is chilly outside even as the showers decrease overnight. temperatures are only in the 4 40s. and not going to get much better as we head through the weekend. coming up i'll physical you when you can get outside and were one the heaviest rain will fall in just a few minutes. >> kate, thank you. the future of the philadelphia eagles arrived in the city of brotherly love and sisterly affection today. >> that's right. the spotlight is shining awfully bright on carson wentz and sports director don bell got to spend quality time with him over the past two days. you were in chicago until this morning and now you're with us tonight. >> i think he's ready for his clone up. >> yes,. >> he's from a small town but he just -- there's something about him. he just is who he is. >> that's good to hear. >> pretty comfortable. crazy 24 hours. last night i talked to carson wentz after he was drafted. this morning we flew back to philly on the same flight. landed shortly after 1:30 p.m. when we got off the plane the eagles security were waiting for carson along with two police officers. we walked the concourse philly

>> he's a man trying to get ready for his job. owe he's focused. >> i like that. >> thanks, don. >> new at 11:00 tempers player flare philadelphia mayor and police commissioner face harsh criticism town hall meeting to discuss the stop and frisk policies. natasha brown is live in north philadelphia with more on what the outrage was all about. natasha? >> reporter: you know this town hall was all about stop and frisk and the policy as it relates to philadelphia police. it was meant to open up a dialogue about this policy. instead it opened up plenty of emotional outbursts. >> town hall meeting on the city stop and frisk program quickly spiraled out of control. >> anger, frustration and pain from community members gathered at this church in north philadelphia. many feel the policy is unfair and targets african-americans. >> in philadelphia, we have stopped on average about 200 to

300,000 people a year, and of the two or 300,000 people about 80% of turned up that they have no contraband, they're not doing anything illegal. >> reporter: explosive emotional outbursts led to many leaving the meeting. >> you have to work together. you know what i'm saying. you have to love one another. instead of going about hating everybody. >> we came here to get some answers from the mayor and from the police commissioner. we want to hear them. i mean, a dialogue is when people talk. the other people talk. if you try to come in the middle, it's more emotional i. scream and holler over each on the. >> reporter: several calls for calm allowed for brief conversation between the community, police commissioner richard ross and mayor jim kenney. kenney said unequivocally during his campaign for mayor he would end stop and frisk by the philadelphia police department. he was fiercely questioned about when that would happen. >> i think as people have more opportunities to engage the mayor and the commissioner, um, and they get that off of their chest the next couple of times,

okay, i'm done with that. now let's talk about the nuts and bolts of this. >> reporter: the mayor seemed exasperated trying to reassure residents he was taking this issue seriously and working on it but nonetheless, the shouting reignited and the meeting ended abruptly a head of scl schedule. live in north philly to night, natasha brown cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> natasha, thank you. no charges have been filed yet in the death of a teenager an wilmington high school. investigators say they're still gathering evidence in the death of 16-year-old amy joyner frances. and they are asking the community for patience. joyner frances was found dead april 21 in girls bath raul at howard high school of technolo technology. three students have been questioned since that attack that left her dead. we are hearing from a heroic nine-year-old had came to the rescue of his big sister who is being chased by a pitbull. the dog chased 11-year-old girl while she was waiting for the schoolbus. it happened 32nd and diamond in strawberry mansion yesterday

morning. when her little brother jumped in to help, he became the dog's' target and suffered a bite on his back. >> i just glad my sister didn't get hurt. and because i love her and she's helpful to me. >> neighbors beat the dog away with a shovel. the boy suffered minor injuries and will be treated for rabies as a pro caution. animal control has possession of the dog. scary moments two emergency landings at philadelphia international airport happened just minutes apart. >> let me know when you have the airport in sight as you turn it will be 12:00 o'clock and 8 miles. >> in sight. >> that was audio from this morning between the tower and american eagle flight 48 see one from richmond virginia operated by piedmont airline. the pilot warning the control tower that he would evacuate the plane once on the ground. that plane had smoke in the

cockpit and cabin. one passenger tweeted a photo of himself with the oxygen mask on and then another photo of passengers on the runway. 15 minutes before that emergency landing, the pilot of a republican airline flight reported flight control problems that. plane landed safely. hundreds of demonstrators descended on the california republican convention today to protest an appearance by donald trump. police placed barriers around the san francisco hotel but did it not work as the crowds continued to swell. trump had to be escort flood the convention through a secret entrance. he made sure to joke about the ordeal during his speech. >> that was not the easiest entrance i've ever made. (laughter). >> my wife called. she said there are helicopters following you and we did and then we went under a fence and through a fence and, oh, boy felt like i was crossing the border actually. (laughter). >> it's true. >> things got out of control outside trump rally in orange county, california last night.

police say 20 people were arrested after demonstrations in companies at a mesa turned violent. one man was caught stomping on a patrol car. the disturbances went on for hours until police were able to get the crowd to disperse. texas senator ted cruz continues to campaign in indiana and today he picked up an endorsement from the state's governor mike pentz. in the meantime john kasich answered questions from voters at an event in san francisco. vermont senator bernie sanders stumped in indianapolis and hillary clinton had no public events today. vice-president biden pope francis made a joint appearance at the vatican to call for a renewed global commitment to cancer research. he's trying to rally international support behind the cancer moon shot program. it aims to develop new treatments and find a cure. pope francis said both faith and science can work together to solve the cancer epidemic. the vice-president's son beau died of cancer, brain cancer last year. you think you safeguard your

surprising. it may be because it's not exactly something most of us want to think about, right? but we prince's passing, it did make us wonder what happens if you die without a will. it's a good question that often depends on who you are and where you live. ♪ >> kind of a tough topic to think about. >> what happens if you die without will? >> oh, good question. >> i have no idea. >> if you die without a will, the state determines what happens to your estate. >> bill donahue is an estate attorney he says the legal term is inn testy see. >> if you die to in nest at any time it means you didn't have will or some vehicle that terms what happens with your property. >> studies show that includes 55% of american adults. >> it's unpleasant. some people don't prepare for it. >> nobody really wants to think about dying. >> this week a judge confirmed that number includes prince. he had a $300 million estate but no will. >> that wasn't very wise at all.

>> for now his sister who is his closest living relative has filed legal documents to access his fortune. >> i think it should go to family. >> in most cases it does. while the specifics vary from state to state in general if you're single don have kids your parents are first to inherit your state then siblings then extended family. >> i don't like them but i don't want them to have your money. >> if you're single with kids it gets divided equally among them f you're married all assets go to spouse if you're married with children the kids and the spouse. >> just the spouse. >> this where things get dicey especially if the spouse in the parent of your children. >> the evil stepmother that could be problem. >> it depends on the state which is why it's important to put your wishes in writing. >> we just got the paper work and filled it out. >> it's like putting a plan together. >> now there is a possibility that prince put his plans in a trust which is an alternative to a will and that's actually what michael jackson did. so when his mother filed a case

and gloomy again. i miss the sun. i think we'll see a few peeks of it tomorrow. storm scan3 shows a couple of light showers here and there. most of them are south and east of philadelphia. just a few light ones popping up over south jersey a few over ocean county and a few more down in delaware. that's it for no stronger system poised to head our way as we get into the week and this one you see right here producing severe weather in texas overnight. decent amount of real estate between the system impacting us tonight and the one moving in for the weekend and this weather right here is what we'll get into for tomorrow. it's not bad. kind of cloudy i think we'll see a new breaks of sun here and there. i'm more optimistic about the tonight than i was yesterday. things are starting to look better perhaps. still chilly though. 49 degrees in philadelphia. 46 in reading. 45 in allentown. and as we head through the weekend, still tonight light showers and drizzle. saturday clouds, some sun peeking through. sunday that's when pockets of rain move through. let's talk about when the

heaviest rain will move through. because notice tomorrow you see a lot of cloud cover here. like i said it's not a beautiful day. but by 2:00 p.m. start to see the clouds breaking up just a little bit if we get enough sup i think temperatures do rise into the low to mid 60s. then this big wall of rain starts to move in overnight tomorrow night. right really over the region sunday morning just in time for everybody to head out to broad street. this is 7:00 a.m. heavy rain over philadelphia. it continues 8:00 a.m. it continues really through the day heaviest then lifts off to the north but notice it's still raining heavily at noon then it starts to move on out and we may dry thing out sunday evening. another round of rain monday morning. and then finally some clearing late monday into tuesday. how much rain are we talking? well we are deficit we need the rain so it's if news in that respect but we're looking at anywhere from half inch to possibly an inch. latest run of the rpm model has us over an inch of rain. over under three quarters of inch of rain this weekend. overnight light shower to drizzle overnight. 45.
