good morning, today is saturday, april 30th, i'm rahel solomon. thanks so much for being with us this weekend. let's turn it over to meteorologist, justin drabick, dreary weekend, you say relatively speaking today will be better than tomorrow? >> today is the best one, not dealing with any rain, still cool, 50's, 60s, tomorrow pretty much soaking rain. >> yes, it has been chilly. i felt like wearing my winter coat. >> you need it. waking up with 40's, high temperatures only in the 60s, like pacific northwest weather. i don't know how they handle that out there. props to them. not really happening so much this weekend, maybe we see few peaks this afternoon, but overall, just cloudy skies, waking up overcast currently 49 at the airport, not really bringing much of windchill at all. temperatures across the region, pretty much uniform because of the clouds, kind of holding in whatever heat we had yesterday.

mid zero's, chilly off the chilly atlantic ocean continuing, what's bringing cooler air. and that's going to last really for the rest of the weekend. dry though, storm scan3, just clouds over us, we will be rain free today. so outdoor plans are a go. and a lot going on this weekend, now, today penn relays continue, early afternoon, mostly cloudy skies, temperatures upper 50's, getting close to 60. of course, the science festival today, outside, morning temperatures, later on, will be in the upper 50's, as well, dry, mostly cloudy, then tomorrow, not good news for the broad street run. still looking at that steady rain, pretty much the entire event. temperatures only in the 50's, today, mostly cloudy, 63 degrees for philadelphia, still that win off the ocean at the shore, keeps temperatures there in the mid 50's, upper 50's, in the poconos. still bringing more rain chances in our seven day forecast, but there is a little built after dry period. i'll let you know when that is when i show you the seven day in a few minutes. >> looking forward to that, thanks, justin.

new this morning, stand-off in north philadelphia, is over. it started just before 3:00 this morning, on the 3400 block of crystal street. police tell "eyewitness news", someone fired a shot from a house, then ran inside. a swat team was on the scene, we are told the man is in custody. >> a fatal accident is under investigation in cherry hill. the call came in around 2:45 this morning, for a single car accident on route 38 at church road circle. one person died. >> philadelphia police have a man in custody after a stabbing at a center city hotel. investigators say, there was a party early this morning on the 15th floor of the embassy suites on the ben franklin parkway. police say a fight ended with one man stabbing another in the neck, a 24 year old man is in stable condition. so far no charges in the death of a sophomore after alleged attack in a wilmington high school last week. "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan explains why

authorities are calling for patience. >> store more than a week the howard high school technology community mourning the loss of amy joyner francis, she died just after school started last week, following an alleged attack in the girls bathroom. other than saying no weapons were involved, and several girls were being questioned, wilmington police have not released any details into how amy was killed. during a town hall meeting earlier this week, chief bobby cummings said he was hopeful charges could be announced by friday, in a brief and scripted news conference, he said those charges are not ready. >> because there is still a lot of work left to do, by our detective and the attorney general offers, in terms of reviewing evidence, and relevant facts, we are not in a position at this time to file charges. >> thanks to the wide use of social media student and other claim to go have knowledge of amy's death have created enormous volume of information to sift through. cummings said more than 3,000 printed pages of data that investigators must painstake

inchly review. while the community is eager for answers, he says, when piecing this case together, speed is not as important as thoroughnesss. we are dedicate philadelphia aim i am regardless of the means of death to conduct a thorough, complete investigation to ensure a successful conclusion as it comes to investigating this case and prosecuting it. >> since one of the school colors at howard high school is blue, many of the student are promoting a code blue awareness campaign to talk about making good choices. in wilmington, cleve bryan, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> a two year old who fell more than 10 feet down a cellar in north philadelphia is in stable condition. it happened friday morning, on the 2400 block of germantown avenue. the city's department of licenses and inspections says the incident is the result of a corroded cellar door. the building owner has been cited. now a "eyewitness news" exclusive.

we are learning more about some terrifying moments, for two children attacked by a dog in strawberry mansion, attack sent one of the children to the hospital. >> like any brother and sister, nine year old, and 11 year old sister, had their ups and downs. >> it is casino every sweet. because usually we argue a lot. >> but thursday morning, when she found herself being chased by a dog, white waiting for the school bus at 32nd and diamond? >> i was terrified, like i was really scared. >> it was, yep, her little brother, who came to the rescue. >> i was just glad that my sister didn't get hurt and because i love her and helpful to me. >> no sure who the mixed breed belongs to, but when he jumped in he became the dog's target and was hit in the back. so he was protective of his

sister needed some help and the neighbors stepped in. >> sounded like a bunch of kids outside screaming, when i look down the street, the little boy is being attacked by the dog. ran back in the house, i grabbed a shovel. >> animal control tells "eyewitness news" the dog was placed in quarantine for ten days, and it appears no one has come forward to claim it. he said he still thinks about the dog when he's outside but perhaps no surprise, says, he's not afraid. >> and he tells me he's feeling much better. he even went back to school friday. meantime his dad tells me what's next for him, he will have to be treated when rabies shots as a precaution. >> well, some scary months friday morning, as two emergency landings at philadelphia international airport happened just minutes apart. >> let me know when you have the airport in site. she turned, it will be 12:00 and 8 miles. >> now that was audio between the tower and american eagle flight 4801 from richmond

operated by piedmont airlines. the pilot warning the control tower that he would have to evacuate the plane once on the ground. that plane had smoke in the cockpit and cabin. one passenger tweeted a photo of himself with the oxygen mask on, then another photo of the passengers on the runway. fifteen minute before that emergency landing, the pilot of a republic airlines flight reported flight control problems, as well. that plane landed safely. >> well, some of the presidential candidates are campaigning in indianna, which will hold its primary on tuesday. meantime, senator ted cruz has plans to speak to the california gop convention today. it was a volatile scene friday afternoon as hundreds showed up to protest donald trump's appearance at the convention. at least five people were arrested. police escorted trump into the convention through a secret entrance, and even joked about it during his speech. >> that was not the easiest entrance i've ever made. my wife called.

she said there are helicopters following you and we did, and then we went under a fence, and through a fence. oh, boy, felt like i was crossing the border actually, you know? >> things also got out of control outside after trump rally in orange county, california thursday night. there police arrested 20 people. >> ted cruz pick up endorsement. indianna governor mike pence called cruz a principal conservative. john kasich answered questions from voters in san francisco. vermont senator bernie sanders, stomped in indianapolisment and today former president bill clinton will campaign on behalf of wife hillary in gary and fort wayne. >> vice president biden and pope francis made a joint appearance at the vatican to call for a renewed global commitment to cancer research. as jonathan report, the vice president called the disease a human problem, that needs international attention.

>> vicevice president joe biden came to vatican city in search of allies on the war on cancer and pope francis gave his support. the two shook hands after both delivered passionate speeches on fighting cancer at an international cancer on regenerative medicine. >> it is a great, great honor to be back in the vatican. >> biden thanked the pope for comforting his family after the loss of his son, beau biden, who died of cancer last year. and then tried to rally international support behind the white house's so-called cancer moon shop program, which aims to develop new treatment and find a cure. >> we should be doing everything possible to accelerate cancer treatment and cures with urgency. >> biden came to vatican city hoping the pope's seal of approval will help persuade other companies and share their research and data. >> the pope called on the international medical community to make the latest in cancer treatments available to the poor, saying, these illnesses affect millions

>> well headed out of town this weekend good timing, because weather, lousy, today just gray, overcast, maybe few peaks of sun this afternoon, temperatures still below average, then tomorrow, bridging back decent amount of rain. waking up this morning from our weather watchers, still dealing with some chilly temperatures as we drop down to the low 40's again, in some of the coolest spot, and we will struggle to get back to near 60 this afternoon, and we should be at 69 degrees, for our average high temperature for this time of year. check it out. mid and upper 40's across the region, we gun to the north, into the lehigh valley, allentown where julia deal collection in with 45 degrees, in the overcast skies, little closer to philadelphia, not much change as far as the temperatures go. we'll hop into new jersey, where allen, he's also in the mid 40's, with the cloudy conditions, and part of interior south jersey. same deal, that's what happens, you get the cloud cover casino of holding the temperatures in, john carol there, 45 degrees, mullica hill. and even in delaware, maybe few degrees warmer there, 47, again, similar conditions,

overcast skies, pretty much repeat of what we had yesterday, slightly warmer, but at least we will keep things dry. so outdoor plans are a go. little chilly, we you up north of here, kutztown, live look at berks county, 43 degrees, overcast conditions, maybe have soccer game to go to, or little league game this morning, it will be chilly, certainly, dress warm, with that long sleeve sweatshirt and heavier coat. like i said those temperatures running good 10 degrees once again below average this afternoon. we could use some more rain, we had little bit yesterday. not whole lot. little bit of shower activity and mist. so far for the month, an inch and three quarters for philadelphia, but look how much we are below average, almost the same amount, almost inch and three quarters so we could use some of the rain. indicated now by the drought status. not yet, but just dealing with abnormally dry conditions for the areas in yellow, mainly from the city on north and west in pennsylvania. still south jersey, part of delaware, are in good shape. we will get the needed rain in here tomorrow.

that will will help things out. no threat of rain today, nice and dry, have the cloud cover over us right now, clouds may break up little this afternoon, seeing few peaks every sunday, but don't get too excited there, won't help temperatures whole lot. steady rain starts to move in after midnight tonight. then it is off and on periods of rain throughout your day sunday. and still, this cooler weather pattern continues in our forecast, we are dealing with pattern change over the past week, and the jet stream overall is going to take a dive to our south. going to allow storm systems to move in every few days. we will be dealing with probably another week, may not be until mother day weekends until we can finally break out of this pattern, as you can see, some consistent weather. cool front still well to the south. cool today with the wind off the ocean, temperatures may get to the low 60s, tomorrow we watch warmfront push on through, depending where this sets up will determine our temperatures, right now i think it hangs upright over philadelphia. could see your 06 degrees, but

we will deal with rain at times throughout the entire day. still, some left over showers on monday. as the cold front finally moves through. by the afternoon it get little bit better. let's time things out for youment maybe few breaks in those clouds this afternoon, this is 3:00 indicating few peaks every sunday shine possible. then the clouds quickly move back in tonight. 3:00, 4:00 a.m. the rain start to arrive from the west. then tomorrow 8:00 broad street run kicks off, it will be a significant run. with off and on showers through the morning, into the night. 11:00 still some left over showers, around, at times. and check out the temperatures, yes, may get to 60 degrees today. that's warmest day over the past several. another chilly night tonight. forty's again. and then tomorrow, look at the change in temperature, the spread at least, near 70 in dover, potentially, 60 around philadelphia, then maybe only upper four's to 50's in the lehigh valley, all because of the warmfront. today not as cool, 63, then tonight 48 for the low temperature. the extended forecast, steadiest rain will be sunday, looks like tuesday and

to it is actually very amazing, so later on today we will have many creations on these display tables, which will include many, you know, star wars, and tanks, type things, and towers, and buildings, and thing i've never even seen before. >> yes, so he is talking about this, very intrinsic stuff. i know this is one of the best things you've seen, but talk about some of the other exhibit, how much time and my it costs? >> well, you know, for us, you know, we focus on inspiring these kids. we create hands on attractions, unable kids to do things they've never done before. so they can build off of a wall. create a mosaic, work with these red bricks, or you can also raise your derby car that you build over here, and compete with other leggo phanatics. >> so we will actually walk over here to this derby. but before we get to this, can you explain what the draw is for families, for kids who, you know, might be building their leggos at home. but his is more of a

mid-atlantic, northeast, it is chilly. near 50 in philadelphia. forty-six up in allentown, winds flow, you can see, coming right out of the northeast, 30 degrees in bar harbor, maine, 52 washington, d.c., much. east coast is feeling the chill as this unsettled weather pattern continues, looks like it sticks around really for the next several days, you got like i said good news, no rain today. storm scan3 dry, clouds this morning, some of the clouds could bring break up this afternoon helping temperatures get back to the lower 60s after chilly start in the four's, keep in mind our highs should be upper 60s to near 70 for this time of year. so not even going to get close. weekend events going on, penn relays finish up mostly cloudy skies, early afternoon temperatures getting close to 606 degrees. we have the franklin institute's science festival outside, mostly cloudy skies, dry, upper 50's there. then tomorrow, the broad street run, that's not in good shape. periods of rain, temperatures in the 50's, it will be raining throughout the entire event.

"eyewitness news" reporter natasha brown tells us, the meeting came to abrupt end. >> a town hall meeting on the city stop and frisk program quickly spirals out of control. >> anger, frustration, pain, from community members, gathered at this church in north philadelphia, many feel the policy is unfair, and targets african-americans. >> in philadelphia, we have stopped on an average about 200 to 300,000 people a year. and the two, 300,000 people

"eyewitness news" at the pennsylvania convention center, for the broad street run, health and fitness expo. vendors offered everything from athletic gear to massage, even special food and energy products. runners will step-off at 8:00 tomorrow morning, at the corner of broad and west fisher avenue. it ends at the navy yard. >> well, philly pep week is underway, the week long celebration of technology and innovation. start ups are hoping to take advantage of pennsylvania's new medical marijuana law, and get into the cannibis

>> he is tired of the dreary weather, and even closer to the shore head down to woodbine slightly milder at 48 degrees at william powell's house. maybe this afternoon we get few peaks of sunshine. but, so far, not so much. down at the shore, overcast skies today, chilly still on that sweatshirt or coat if you are headed to the shore, because we have the wind, ocean water currently at 51 degrees, so air temperatures will be holding in the 50's, along the new jersey shore and delaware beaches. coming in today, somehow, we're still above average. recent cool spell we had, just over half a degree above average when you average all of the temperatures for the month. we start off strong. we had 80 degrees on april 1st, then we finish offer on the cool side. so far precipitation well below average, almost an inch and three quarters, highest temperature 86 degrees, that happened last tuesday, and coldest was 29. >> this is the trends, enjoy

it, partly to mostly cloudy skies again some sun possible this afternoon. this rain gets in here well after midnight tonight say 3:00 a.m., 4:00 a.m. start to seat rain moving in from the west. and just off and on periods of rain throughout your sunday not good news for the broad street run. pretty much the entire event will be wet. >> chilly across the region, less than 10-mile per hour winds, at least that's good. but tomorrow casino of the same deal. still, we have that flow off the water it will be cool. notice the winds flow south of the city mort of south letterly breeze, dover, parts every south jersey, warmfront that's going to set up somewhere across the region tomorrow. >> south of the front little milder, but areas north of the city, lehigh valley, you guys stuck in the cool temperatures, 50's, and maybe we hit 70 to the south near dover. then, monday finally those winds start to switch little bit more out of the west. pushing out the storm. we will get some miler temperatures back in in the

forecast, overall pattern still remains unsettled. colds front well to the south. so that cool air just locked in today. here comes the warmfront. doesn't move whole lot further north. so periods of rain through your day sunday. temperatures may get to near 60 around the city. then the actual cold front will come through later monday. still the threat for few showers, and monday morning, into the afternoon. so, timing things out today, at least this afternoon, may be little bit brighter with few peaks of sun. clouds quickly rollback in here tonight. here comes the steadier rain arriving 4:00 a.m. sunday. then off and on through the day could be pocket of heavy rain, as well, into the afternoon, certainly, sunday night, into monday. still the threat for some showers. how much rain are we talking about? good news, some areas could get over inch of rain specially from the city on northward, little less across south jersey, but still soaking rain. temperatures today, into the low 60s, at best, if we see that sun. another chilly night tonight. forty's to about 50 degrees, then tomorrow, again, depends where you are. maybe near 70 dover. then only in the 50's, to the

this is truly a leggo lovers dream. four football fields worth of space here are filled with logo exhibit, perhaps one of the most exciting parts, though, is this hands-on portion of it. joining us now, gabe young, helped organize brick fest live. gabe, what's this section here? >> this is an inspiration station, where people can come and create these city blocks, and add to existing sitting. so this is actually pretty amazing. so by the end of today we will have this table completely full of these blocks that were created collaboratively by these thousands of kids who are looking to built something amazing here. >> so they can add on. we will actually take a tour, just walk with us, little bit. there is another section here, very fun, can you explain what is over here? >> yes, this is the brick fest mini golf. so families love golf. kids are just ' nam order with the fact that we have a leggo golf course.

>> yes. >> very seeks it g. so see the brick detailing here with the leggos. that's very exciting. and all the way up the end over here, this is the brick fest build a wall. we have exciting cbs portion here. what's the exciting part for kids? what you do you hope they take away in terms of he hadding? >> one of the things we want to do, inspire kids to do thing they've never done before. which includes things like building toward you, instead of, you know, vertically from the floor up. and, you know, here, later on today, we'll have the opportunity to see some, you know, some spaceships, and buildings, and people's names, built all over these walls. >> you have four kids of your own, what do you feel like is the draw for events like this where kids can actually engage with people who share their same passion? >> one of the inspiration, i have four kids, my old, i took him to local event. as a parent, i had a chance to really watch his eyes light

up. and that made me feel like this is the right thing to do. really give parent the opportunity to collaborate, learn from their kids, while they play. >> yes. this is family friendly event. a lot of hands on things as we mentioned, but also there are so many elaborate exhibit, prizes, so what are we taking a look at here? >> we have these rocky awards, that we give to some of these creators every these amazing builds. this is for the best train. so we have a number of train set here, so at some point we have communities who will be voting on the best train. also have the best castle, best space station, so for the. >> what are lastly the other exhibits that people can expect, we kind of saw little bit of the glow zone, just what else can people see here today? >> yes, well in addition to the build a wall, the derby cars we did earlier, we also have a mosaic. well, you can use one by one tiles and create something real amaze to go put onto another wall that we have. we also have brand new
