as he for the with the armed robber, officer ed davies return to the force. >> how are you doing, buddy. >> thank you so much. >> i didn't want to have him win more or less when he shot me. i wanted to come back on my terms. >> reporter: from the moment eric torres pulled that trigger point blank, it has been an agonizing journey for the officer. >> i remember hearing like a bang, i was like what was that? i remember i stood up and my chest and my stomach got really hot. i looked down and looked backup and said i got hit. >> reporter: after three weeks in the induced coma, 37 days in the icu, davies would finally be released, injuries so horrific, no one knew, moment to moment, if he was going to survive. >> four kids, and that is my wife, so that is all i thought about. that made me pull through. >> reporter: but 993 days ago, there was another hero, fellow officer seanty coupe shore

raced davies to the hospital arriving seconds before he would have died from blood loss and as davies showed me around his new work place suddenly his first day gotten better. there was officer cooper, who coincidently had been assigned there for a class. >> what did you think when you saw that face walking through the door here today. >> i was elated. >> reporter: so maybe spontaneous reunion of these two heroes provided the best answer have of all to my final question: why would someone who paid such a terrible price be so determined to return to his job protecting all of us. >> i always wanted to come back. i love the job. i love the guys. it the is just a family. >> reporter: big part of the officer davies assignment at police training center will be instructing new recruits, as recipient of the department's highest honor the valor award, it is hard to say anyone better suited to teach men and

see at 10:00 o'clock tonight scattered showers and heavy rain off to the west. starting around midnight heavy rain moves in and it will continue on and off all night long. rumbles of thunder, flashes of lightening as well that continues into tomorrow morning when you wake up. rain clears out but cloud will stick around through our tuesday afternoon. so for tonight, still a marginal risk for severe weather in delaware where they have had more sun today, still a general risk for stray thunderstorm here in the philadelphia area. biggest threat is off to the south as far as severe weather is concern. between now and midnight expect scattered showers and a possible thunderstorm but between midnight and 8:00 a.m. when worse of this next storm hits with heavy rain and threat for thunder, lightening, and also some patchy dense fog on the roads so please be safe. coming up we will time out rest of the rain this week and we will have good news as we head toward weekend, to you now, back over to you. philadelphia police continue to investigate what caused a deadly crash in east falls over the weekend. the it happened on sunday afternoon along the 5400 block of henry avenue.
