this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news" right now on "eyewitness news", a bands of strong storms is rolling through the area. bringing high winds, and driving rain. "skycam 3" is giving us a live look now at a foreboding center city philadelphia. you can see the dark clouds, and rain that have already settled in for the evening. good evening, everyone, i'm natasha brown, thanks for joining us, right over to meteorologist, lauren casey to tell us all about what we can expect the next few hours, i know, lauren, trying to figure out if i could go outside, runner around during dinner. >> little window we're watching, we'll deal with two

lines every rain, embedded thunderstorms, but nice rounds every sunday shine for much of our saturday, of course, familiar looking scene has returned to live look at center city philadelphia. raindrops, on the lens of "skycam 3", temperatures have cooled dramatically with the rain moving in, the breeze kicking up, and the clouds moving in. 06 degrees right now our current temperature, winds out of the southwest, in advance of cold front, that is still up winds at this point. so we have the first line of storms which is currently making its way through the delaware vale, more in in the wy of rainfall, embedded thunderstorms, strong activity across central, southern delaware, seeing heavy downpour activity, embedded lightning strikes, gusty winds, moving off to the east, heads up lewes, dewey beach, that line coming for you. up and down the i95 corridor dealing with pockets of moderate to some pockets of heavier rainfall, few embedded lightning strikes, again, it continuing off to the east, but still, dealing with a pretty soggy, maybe half an hour to hour ahead of us in center city philadelphia. then we have the secondary

line, this is in association with the cold front, that is going to move through as we head into the next several hours, so again dealing with two rounds of rain, and some embedded thunderstorms, first of which is coming through right now, the second of which will come through later this evening, watch for the possibility of gusty winds, embedded within some of these cells, but drying out, that second line will come in pretty quickly, drying out for most of us, by the 11:00 hour, then over night tonight, clearing, still breezy, and quick cooling, and we do have a very cool day in store for tomorrow. we'll talk more about that and plus for a freeze-watch in effect that's coming up in your full forecast in just a few. >> lauren, thank you. prom night tragedy. tonight, a south jersey high school community is mourning the death of two students, they were killed, in a car crash, just hours after celebrating with classmates. "eyewitness news" reporter trang do live in morris river township, cumberland count which more on what happened. trang? >> reporter: natasha, those two high school student friends bridgeton high school lost their lives as well as

two other students remain hospitalized after this one-car crash, you can see, across the road here, small memorial has formed, underneath a tree at the scene of the crash. we've seen few class police, family friends stopping by here, as word of the accident spread through this small tight-knit community of bridgeton. state police say 17 year oldish a, behind the wheel, and 15 year old mink all a mostly in the front passenger seat. both died at the scene. the accident happened about 3:45 this morning on route 49. state police say the car was headed westbound when it swerved across the road and into a tree on the eastbound side. the witness said the girls were following a car with three boys inside. the boys told the witness the group was headed home to bridgeton after going to ocean city after their prom when they saw the girls car swerve off the road. >> kids live for this moment to enjoy this moment. and they're not able to talk about it. >> pretty -- just sad, you

know, their prom, they're just starting their lives in a flash it just changes, very sad. >> so the two girls in the hospital are a 16 year olan 17 year old. they are in critical and stable condition. meanwhile, state police are still investigating the cause. for now live in morris river, township, trang do, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> trang, thank you so much. philadelphia police say they've arrested a teenager for damaging several cars in university city last night. eighteen year old blake because faces multiple charges including aggravated assault. police say because through rocks and railroad ties at moving vehicles from an overpass on the 600 block of south university ave. at about 8:30 last night. a male driver suffered minor injuries when his windshield was destroyed. he was treated at the scene. >> and, police are also investigating after a dog attacked a child in chestnut hill. it happened on the 7700 block of stenton avenue. about 1:00 this afternoon. police say the five year old

boy was bitten several times in the face. paramedics rushed him to einstein medical center right now he's in stable condition. no word on the fate of the dog just yet. and, new at 6:00 tonight, running to honor our heroes, many people turned out today to walk with our wounded warriors lot in delaware county. "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff tells us one special hero received a very special award. >> ♪ >> i was going to the marine corps, then i was going to work, then find a job, get married and everything, then my life was changed forker. >> may seventh, 2007, ronnie suffered burns to 90% of his body while serving in iraq n that same incident he lost two friends. he's 29 years old. by land and air the eighth annual walk for the wounded in media raised funds and awareness for thousands of american heroes.

just 2 miles there is walk truely symbol of solidarity for the very long journey that these wounded heroes have made. >> this year, our own ukee washington helped in present ago special award given taught officer jesse hartnett and his family. >> for his service to our country, and continued service to our community. >> hartnett, a philadelphia police officer, sustained injuries to his arm after being shot during a ambush earlier this year. >> it is tough to see these veterans have been up here, they have limbs blown off, it is very difficult and trauma took have dealt with that, and they'll come here today with big smiles on stage. >> and happy to wake up in the morning. >> lost his leg to roadside bomb while serving in baghdad in 2007. he has since work with operation first response helping fellow wounded vets. >> they just have to realize, okay, that's done, i need to move on from this, that's when they can start helping themselves mentally. >> he says what many retired

philadelphia for the dad vail regatta, anita oh, takes us to the banks of the schuylkill river for this year's competition. >> as calmly and consistently as the current sweeps along the schuylkill river, rowers take a similar approach when it comes to their scores. >> keep the nerves calm, can't worry about what's going on. just be focused on your own boat, you can only affect how fast you go. >> temple university, one of the row heres put their ores to water for the dad vail regatta. >> just the amount of teamwork, synchronization, fraternal aspect, how much brotherhood between you and the guys, i think really got me to fall in love with the sport. >> philadelphia hoses the two day rowing competition on the second weekday of may each year. >> big event for philadelphia, a jewel in the crown, really, and it is a right of passage, every spring. >> but for coaches, athletes, and hundreds of volunteers,

the prep work starts much earlier. >> we start working on this regatta in september and october. and we build right to up now. so this is huge for us. >> the event may be free, but organizers say it makes a big splash for the city. >> and it has quite a bit of economic impact when you think about all of the hotel rooms that are filled, and the meals that are consumed. >> and largely due to the crowds that gather to rail around their favorite teams. cathy, a long time philadelphia resident, came to cheer on her grand nephew, dillan. heroes for the university of delaware. >> it's been a family affair. his father rowed, his uncle rowed. the olympic gold metal. that's what you are going for here. >> more than 100 colleges across the us and canada competed in the 78th annual dad vail regular glad a making it the largest collegiate rowing competition in the country. anita oh, cbs-3, "eyewitness

news". >> job hunting certainly no laughing matter, this weekend. hundreds applied for jobs at the new punch line philly comedy club in fishtown today. the job fair was held at the philmore philadelphia and more than 50 positions are available. the comedy club is looking for bartenders, servers, box office staff, security guards and a lot more. punch line philly is scheduled to open in july. all right, we've got it get right to lawyer win breaking weather news for us? >> severe thunderstorm warning in parts of delaware, southeastern delaware, sussex county for the possibility of 06-mile per hour winds, a cell we were looking at at the top of the show, positioned 10 miles northwest of ocean city moving northeast at about 55 miles per hour, so moving very quickly. again, the main hazard is going to be wind gusts to 60 miles per hour. and that will move some things around in your yard. this is a cell in particular that we are concerned with. it is moving off to the east-northeast. there is lewes, so you're under the gun right now, dewey beach, eventually we could see this moving into cape may county. so heads up there.

as that continues to race off to the northeast, at about 55 miles per hour. closer to the city, just dealing with casino of pockets of moderate rainfall right now, especially south of the city, across parts of southern new jersey, right now, gloucester picking up nice little downpour. but, north and west of the city, things starting to quiet down right now in some of the suburbs, still some light rain, and drizzle, casino of moving on through. but we do have a secondary line we're also going to keep an keep an eye on right now, just up winds of lancaster, berks county continuing to move off to the east, few embedded thunderstorms, now is the line that's right ahead of the colds front, so, once that line passes cents through, we should be in the clear cents as far as the rest of the night tonight. so drying out real by the late evening hours, certainly, by midnight, much of that rain will have to move off shore, then for tomorrow, mainly dry day in store. we could see maybe passing sprinkle north and west of the city, otherwise, very much cooler, and windy tomorrow. and then we could see how about that, a sunny stretch for late week next week. but certainly over the next

several hours we will be dealing with rain, and thunderstorms, projection of 7:00. this would be the secondary line starting to move in just west of the city. passing through as we head through the 8:00 and 9:00 hour, then eventually moving toward the shore. and as we move into the 11:00 hour, really, conditions quieting down. could see few lingering light showers on the back side of the cold front. but otherwise, very quiet conditions, overnight tonight, into tomorrow morning, no problems as dry conditions, but the winds have certainly kicked up. in advance of the rain, with the rain, and then after the rain, we will see these elevated winds speeds up there around 28 miles per hour in millville. gusting over 35 miles per hour in some spots. and then of course, with these individual cells, certainly, that severe thunderstorm warning, in southern delaware, could see wind gusts of 06 miles per hour, but that will be very isolated in nature. temperatures right now, cooled off dramatically after mid to upper 70s today. sixty in philly. fifty-nine in allentown. still hanging up at 60 in ac as the rain just moving your

way. so overnight tonight, thundershowers over the next couple of hours, followed by clearing, breezy conditions, much cooler dropping down to 48 degrees. and then talk about cool-down. high temperature barely making it to 60 tomorrow. we won't see some sunshine, low clouds mixed in, tan will be quite windy. west winds up around 15 to 25 miles per hour with gusts up around 35 miles per hour throughout the afternoon. future temperatures showing us even as we head into midnight, getting much chillier as we wake up tomorrow morning. that's going to be little bit after difference. middle 40's in the lehigh valley, upper 40's, elsewhere, dropping down into the 30's, upper 30's, tonight, in the poconos. by tomorrow afternoon, temperatures really struggling, only climbing up into the mid to upper 50's, and most cases. by tomorrow evening, that chill returns, temperatures dropping down into the 40's, in philly, by the 9:00 hour, tomorrow evening, and then, by monday morning, temperatures are pretty chilly, certainly, by may standards, down near the freezing mark, in the poconos, well down into the 40's, in the city.

and 40's across parts of southern new jersey, but because those temperatures are going to be drop down close to freezing, up in the poconos, we do have this freeze watch in effect for carbon, monroe counties, this is tomorrow night into early monday morning. so, nice spring plans outside, bring them on inside. for tomorrow, much cooler day in store, high temperature only 49 degrees with a passing sprinkle possible in the poconos, very gusty winds all across the region, then things quiet down into monday, still little breezy, below average, but nice sunshine, high of 64. rain returns mainly late tuesday night and continuing into wednesday. and then check that out. maybe three continuous days of sunshine thursday, friday, saturday. it is a little ways out, but fingers crossed. >> look, drabbing it out. because we want to absorb the moment of three days of sunshine. >> take it all in. >> unbelievable. >> thank you, so much, lauren? sure. >> all right, what's happening with the phils?
