>> from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia. this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". bill cosby is back in montgomery county courtroom where a judge will decide if there is enough evidence to send his sexual assault case to trial. >> that key decision could be made today. good afternoon, i'm brooke thomas. >> i'm jim donovan. cosby is facing criminal indecent assault charge in connection to 2004 encounter former temple university employee andrea constand greg argos live outside the courthouse in norristown where both sides are pleading their

case, greg? >> reporter: jim, good afternoon, this is the preliminary hearing stage which could decide whether or not comedian bill cosby heads to trial for the alleged sexual assault charge. the hearing right now is still going on here at the montgomery county courthouse. both sides calling witnesses who interviewed both the comedian and his alleged ac kuester, andrea constand, former temple employee, the 78 year old comedian arriving at the montgomery county courthouse shortly before 9 30 this morning, his attorneys entering minutes before. the focus on this hearing today is there enough evidence to send a case to trial? notably absent cosby's accuser andrea, who alleges cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her at his cheltenham home back in 2004. now, pennsylvania law a laws hearsay to be admitted during preliminary hearings. so without andrea, the district attorney first called former cheltenham, catherine heart to the stands, heart took con stand's statement

about the alleged assault in 200, a she red parts of that statement which details what con stand said happened at cosby's home. under cross-examination, though, heart says the statement was not audio or video recorded, and admits she was not present when constand later reviewed the written statement and was allowed to make changes. john norris the chief of the cheltenham police department who interviewed cosby in new york city back in 2005 also took to the stand recalling his interview with the star. right now, judge elizabeth mchugh is deciding whether to allow defense attorney brian mcmonagle to call another cheltenham detective to the stand but district attorney, kevin steel, objected to that request, saying, the detective's testimony is not applicable at this stage. now, cosby's defense attorney, brian mcmonagle seemed to focus all every his questions today on those on the stand about andrea constand's character, that's not a ridder during this preliminary hearing stage, but could really . an indication as to

our jan carabeo shows us the intersection where it happened, is a dangerous one. >> the suspect may be in custody but deadly hit-and-run at bustleton and cottman avenues in northeast philadelphia left a wake up destruction tuesday morning. the impact, so violent, it not only ripped the car's wheel from its axle, but to a septa bus stop from it station, those who took the 58 were thankful they weren't here at the time. >> to know that i'm here every day, i'm thankful it is not me, but real sorry for that person's family. >> a man was waiting on the sidewalk under that canopy around 12 30, when this car struck and killed him, launching his body one hundred feet. raining heavily at the time, police say, speed and weather may have been factors. >> you see him flying through this intersection all the time. supposed to be 30 miles an hour, these guys are doing 50 by here. >> investigators found blood in the car and hope that evidence would help track down the driver, instead, they say, he turned himself into police around 8. he was taken to the hospital. and now, investigators are trying to figure out why he

left the scene, especially, after seeing the damage. >> witnesses say the driver then exited the lexus, walk over, looked at the body, and then fled on foot. >> police are working to identify the victim right now they only describe him as a man in his 40's. in northeast philadelphia, jan carabeo, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". 3 people are in the hospital after a crash in oxford circle. one vehicle overturned in that accident. that happened just before 8 this morning at the boulevard and devereaux. police say four cars were involved in the accident, the cause is under investigation. all lanes were blocked after the crash, but everything is back open again now. >> in campaign 2016 today is primary day for republican voters in washington state. donald trump is running unopposed for the 44 delegates up for grabs. on the democratic side, bernie sanders is calling out hillary clinton, after she turned down an invitation to debate him, ahead of next month's california primary. clinton's campaign says her time is best spent meeting directly with voters, and focusing on her likely

opponent, donald trump. president obama continues his visit to viet nam and would like to see the country improve its records on human right issues. the president visited hanoi jane bag gotay today. told group of activists, more successful when it people can freely express their thought. us was not dictating terms to the vietnamese government. >> up tort vietnamese people to determine how their society functions, and the nature of their government. but, we do believe in certain universal values, and it is important for us to speak out on behalf of those values, where ever we go. >> the president also visited a city there, and will also visit japan later this week. >> officials have examined human remains recovered from the crash area of egypt air flight 084. and they say the remains suggest the plane was brought down by a mid-air explosion. the remains are being kept in a morgue in cairo. the officials say the remains are tiny, and at least one arm

shows evidence of burns. so far, investigators have not found the plane's flight recorders. >> air travelers say they're sick every endless security delays at airport all across the country, so now the tsa is shaking things up before one of the year's busiest travel weekends. kris van cleave at reagan national airport outside of washington dc with the tsa's new plans. >> in the wake of historically long lines, at some of the nation's airports, that angered flyers and congress alike, the transportation security administration is making changes. >> kelly hogan responsible for security operations at nearly 450 airport nationwide is out. replaced by his deputy. last week, hogan's compensation was questioned by republican congressman, john mikea. >> the gentleman? charge of all of this program earned in one year a 80 thousand dollars bonus. >> as the head of security for tsa, hogan's base salary was more than 181 thousand dollars a year. over 13 month, he took home more than 90 thousand in

bonuses, even as the screeners he oversaw failed to detect mock explosives or banned weapons in 95% of tests by the inspector general. hogan was hammered earlier this month during a house over side hearing. >> since his promotion to that position in 2013, security operations at tsa have been bismal. >> nationwide tens of thousands have missed their flights as screenings have slowed. the tsa blames staffing shortages, tight ends screening measures, and increasing number of flyers. in that same tsa memo we have learned the agency set up incident command center to better responds to screening issues and delays and to better move people to respond to those issues, we should tell that you mr. hogan did not responds to our attempts to reach him. kris van cleave, cbs news, reagan national airport, virginia. >> if you are thinking every flying out every town this summer the tsa says there are some things you can do to help speed up the process. first, finds out before you leave home what items are allowed in carry-on luggage, weapons are obviously prohibited. but bringing things like water

breaking news. chopper 3 is live over north penn high school where crews are battling a 2 alarm fire inside the building. student event been cleared from the building but we're told there are no injuries. the school district tells "eyewitness news", they haven't decided if they are closing for the day at this time. stay with "eyewitness news" for updates. well, a new report finds out whether muscle cars are worthy of the name the insurance institute for high we safety tested 2016 models of the ford mustang, chevy camaro, dodge challenger, all three earned good rating for side impact and moderate overlap frontal crashes. the camaro was rated low for roof strength, while a challenger performed the worse. >> well, safety concerns over drones. police department in new york is experimenting with a very innovative way to keep illegal drones out of the skies. >> jonathan shows us the netherlands, using a bird, very familiar to americans.

>> welcome back, we had crazy werth around here yesterday, but not like this, tornado touched down in oklahoma last night, this is woodward county, there are no reports of injuries. but it certainly looks scary. >> it is not letting up out there. >> it isn't, no. and it is the time of year for sure for severe weather across the plane states, even for us, now that we start to get heated up here, we will likely see more batches of severe weather as we get into the summer season, will feel like summer though in the next couple of days, and even right now, actually little more sunshine out there, very much like what we saw yesterday, we have sunshine, but i still have to cover for shower or thunderstorm, and the reason is that there is another dis 0

disturbance, same storm system nearby, still me around erring just off shore, which we will get into. but the countdown is on my friends, unofficial start at least of the summer season is near days away, out to the graphics, show you what we are talking about here, summer countdown, 6 days until memorial day, we call it the unofficial beginning of the season, average height 11 -- 80 degrees, actually seeing temperatures easily rise above that in the next couple of days, starting tomorrow, and summer will officially begin in 27 short days. but let's take a look what's happening on storm scan once more, wider zoom for this time, still residual moisture getting drawn in new jersey with the counter clockwise rotation, all pulling away, so you have seen more sunshine in some places than other, but you're still going to potentially see spotty shower or thundershower at some . today before high pressure builds in. and build in it will. and really help to build up the heat as well. so by tomorrow, back to the mid 80s, not terribly humid, that will change, though, by the time we hit thursday and friday, as well, new system is

waiting in the wings, it is close enough that we may see stray shower or thunderstorm, either thursday, or friday, for that matter, in fact, could actually become somewhat numerous off to the north and west of the city but more than anything because of the heat that's helping to drive the instability. so, both thursday and friday look very similar, some sunshine, but showers, thunderstorms likely, scattered about the region throughout the afternoon and evening. the rest of today, well take a look, still see some of the clouds rotating in, spotty variety of showers and/or thunderstorm, but there you have it. still out there potentially even toward evening, most notably east of the city but i wouldn't be shocked if delco or delaware county get in on something, too, clears out overnight. still finding couple of clouds in live neighborhood network, one example of that, outside pleasant valley and middle high schools, middle township high school cape may courthouse a lot brighter, still some clouds granted but you have got the breaks of sunshine out there, as well, moving forward, here comes the nice sunny stretch we promised you, right? 86 degrees tomorrow in the sunshine for walt's last day,
