in new york city. good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. this morning, hillary clinton's opponents are jumping on a report from the state department inspector general on clinton's use of private e-mail when she was secretary of state. hena daniels is here in new york. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. hillary clinton is trying to put her presidential campaign back on track this morning on the heels of that damning report into her e-mail server. in an interview airing today, clinton said she didn't do anything past secretaries of state didn't do themselves. hillary clinton brushed aside the latest chapter in her e-mail saga yesterday when she gave this interview to a local univision station in l.a. >> it's not an issue that is going to affect either the campaign or my presidency. >> reporter: an internal audit released by the state department inspector general wednesday

found clinton failed to get legal approval for the private e-mail server she used during her time as secretary of state. the report also concluded i.t. staffers who expressed concerns about the setup were rebuffed. >> it's the same story. just like previous secretaries of state, i used a personal e-mail. many people did. >> reporter: the development provided new fodder for donald trump who continued to bash clinton's character during a campaign stop in anaheim. >> she's as crooked as they come. she had a little bad news today. >> reporter: for a second night in a row, trump's rally was overshadowed by chaos. protesters outside clashed with police. at a more peaceful event in southern california, bernie sanders focused his attacks on the presumptive gop nominee. >> billionaires are not going to run this country. people will. >> reporter: a campaign official tells cbs news the clinton camp will begin airing ads in

california tomorrow. she's counting on a win in the delegate-rich state next month to lock up the democratic nomination. both clinton and sanders will continue campaigning in california saad. meanwhile, trump -- california today. meanwhile, trump will debate sanders one on one ahead of the june 7th primary as long as significant money goes to charity, he says. sanders' response in a tweet, "game on." >> hena daniels in new york. thank you, hena. trump appeared on "jimmy kimmel live." two of kimmel's other guests did not. the weekend and belly bowed out of the scheduled performance because of the presumptive gop nominee. belly said he didn't want to share the stage with trump and disagrees with his policies. trump was asked about the policies, in particular his position on transgender people using the restroom of their choice. he couldn't answer kimmel's question. >> let the states decide, and you know, we have to protect everybody. it's a very, very small group. right now, it's a small group -- >> when you -- if you were

voting personally, a member in new york state, that you would vote for that right? >> the party generally believes that whatever you're born, that's the bathroom you use. >> what about you? >> me, i say let the states decide. i say -- >> would you personally support it? >> would i support? no, i support let the states decide. and i think the states will do hopefully the right thing. >> what's the right thing? >> i don't know yet. >> lawmakers from several states say they know what's the right thing. they are suing the obama administration for a directive issued earlier this month. the guidance allows trans students in public schools to use the bathroom that matches their gender identity. texas led the charge, joining ten states in the case against the obama administration. the department of justice said it will review the complaint. the white house has not responded. folks in northern kansas are picking up the pieces after a large tornado damaged or destroyed as many as 25 homes. more severe weather is expected later today.

the large tornado that struck northern kansas just missed the town of chapman, about 7 miles west offy to -- 75 miles west of topeka. it was on the ground for an hour yesterday, but no immediate reports of injury. another tornado landed near enid, oklahoma, last night. the severe weather included lightning strikes. so far, there are no reports that buildings were damaged, but power lines were knocked down. more than 35 tornadoes were reported in the plains yesterday. today president obama will attend the g7 summit in japan. two days of talks are expected to focus on china, fighting terrorism, and women's empowerment. late yesterday, the president met with japanese prime minister abe. their talk was dominated by the arrest of a u.s. military base worker in connection with the killing of a woman on okinawa island. >> we consider it inexcusable, and we are committed to doing everything that we can to

prevent any crimes from taking place of this sort. >> tomorrow, mr. obama becomes the first sitting president to visit hiroshima where the u.s. dropped an atomic bomb in 1945. egypt is asking companies from france and italy to help search for the black boxes from egyptair flight 804. there's no clear picture about what happened to the airbus. it crashed into the mediterranean last week during a flight from paris to cairo with 66 on board. investigators hope the plane's flight data and voice recorder will provide some answers. and three new pieces of debris that may be connected to malaysia airlines mh370 have been found. two pieces were found in maricios and one in mozambique. 23 people were on board. an associateded press investigation of airport

security in this country found intruders breach u.s. airport fences every ten days. the a.p. found 345 perimeter security breaches at 31 major u.s. airports since 2004. airport officials say none of the incidents have been linked to terrorism, and most intruders were caught quickly. the chief of the transportation security administration was on capitol hill yesterday answering questions about long airport security lines that have caused thousands of passengers to miss their flights. peter neffenger told lawmakers the tsa is adding 768 new security screeners and new technology to move lines quicker. >> one of my fundamental priorities is to dramatically expand the pre-check population and dramatically expand the pre-check. >> delta, american, and united airlines are hiring independent contractors to take over non-screening chores to speed the security lines.

"the new york times" reports a former nba supplier accused of evading taxes and defrauding donors to his charities. kermit washington faces more than 40 years in prison and fines of up to $1 million on federal charges. he became infamous when he punched and severely injured another player in 1977. "the new york times" confirms that a silicon valley billionaire bankrolled hulk hogan lawsuit against gawker. paypal's co-founder calls him a terrible bully and outed him as

being gay in 2007. he said that and articles about friends and others ruined people's lives for no reason. hogan won a $140 million judgment over the site. the "washington post" is questioning the truthfulness of the former navy s.e.a.l. who wrote "american sniper." the report says chris kyle did not win as many valor medals or awards, rather, in iraq as he claimed to in the book. he wrote that he had been the recipient of two silver stars and five bronze stars, but the navy found citations for one silver star and three bronze stars. kyle was killed three years ago at a texas gun range. "the chicago tribune" reports picketing at mcdonald's headquarters by fight for 15 activists. the 1,500 protesters marched yesterday to demand an increase in the minimum wage. the demonstration was held during the company's annual shareholders meeting for a third straight year. "the seattle times" reports power is back on after a major outage downtown.

emergency or would have to sell something or borry to do so. 22% of workers had two or more jobs last year. nearly one out of three said they had no retirement savings or pension. 6 % say they are living comfort -- 69% say they are living comfortably or doing okay. the japanese clothing retailer unijoe? having a hard time breaking into the american market. the company is known for its simple, affordable clothes, but its strategy of moving into suburban shopping malls has fallen short. executives say their top priority is to turn around u.s. operations. the company is having particular trouble as it tries to expand beyond major cities. victoria's secret will stop producing its famed mail-order catalog. it was introduced in 1977. more customers are viewing products on line. the company pays about $150 million to produce about 300 million copies. victoria's secret is ending production of swimwear,
