good afternoon, i'm brooke thomas. >> and i'm joe hole end. jim donovan is off this noon. so the question will the rain ruin memorial day celebrations, and barbeques, or perhaps the ride home from the shore? >> let's get right to meteorologist, katie fehlinger in the cbs-3 weather center, katy? >> just talking about it, it will be terrible if you're stuck in traffic, in the rain. >> that's the worse thing, right? because, well, would you want to sort of tap off the weekends with lofts sunshine, and heat, you know? >> you warned us. >> yes, you know, and there it was. and that rain really pounded down heavily, didn't it, to the overnight. at this point, i'm going to take you back in time here, show you what's transpired at this point not as much on the area radar, start things offer by taking out to one of the shore shots, at ocean city, just fogged in, it is so dreary, out there, the rain is still falling, depending on shore location, at least along the coastal communities, we go next to "skycam 3", at our local headquarters, here, overlooking center city. look at this, sun's actually

trying to break through the clouds, upper seven 70s, breeze out the south, dew point awfully high, higher the dew point shall more moisture rich, as we take you back in time on storm scan3, going all the way back to 6:00 p.m. last night, take a look at what happened. moisture builds in, once it get here it essentially doesn't stop. when you have the kind of heavy rain that rolls through here, through the overnight and this morning, that really led to a lot of not just accumulation, but messy travel out there, and flooding on roadways and whatnot. so you know if it had to come at all i suppose it is good it came on a holiday morning, didn't have typical rush hour, good thing, there will still like will be be periods of rain throughout the day at the shore, further inland, you are, it isn't quite the same scenario. i mention this moment ago. we may still finds some lingering showers out there as the day progresses, coming up in the full forecast, i'll track what the rest of the day has up its sleeve. regardless doesn't look like we're out of the woods just yet, stick with us, full

forecast a bit later in the show, jim, back to you. >> thank you very much. this morning's rainy weather and the possibility of more showers later have forced several communities to cancel or postpone memorial day parades. but, it is some places people are still gathering, to honor veterans who have given their lives in defense of our freedom. anita oh, new at veterans cemetery, in washington crossing, bucks county, anita, good afternoon. >> hey, good afternoon, joe, that's right, there are hundreds of people gathered here for this memorial day ceremony which started about an hour ago, the sun has peaked out for several moments, but as you can see, it is starting to wrap up now, but they are making their closing remarks, and they've lined this area with american flags, and as part of the ceremony they actually just did a rightful salute, also observed moment of silence, and to honor the nearly 8,000 veterans, laid to rest here, the organizers plan to layout wreaths on the graves, and there is also emotional moment

few minutes ago at one point as the organizers asked those who lost family members and combat to stand, talked about the pain of losing loved ones, in conflict. and, this cemetery has personal meaning for some, who attended today, i just spoke to a viet nam war veteran who told me it was very special to be here, as his friends and comrads are also laid to rest here, and these hundreds of acres were actually supposed to become a property for about 200 new homes, but several years ago, many thought to instead make it a cemetery for fallen soldiers. again, as you can see, the ceremony is ongoing, and we will be expected to wrap up in a few moments, so we will be speaking to those who are in attendance here, we bring you the latest sites and sounds, later this afternoon, but for now, live in newtown, anita oh, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". anita, thank you for that live report. >> this morning president obama continues the solemn memorial day tradition of laying a wreath at the tomb of

the water bitten on the leg, beach patrol believes based on the size of the wounds the shark could be about 5 feet long, beach-goers were shake glenn when we came in, there was blood all over the sand. and there was a little boy sitting down over there. when we got closer we saw that he had gotten bitten by a shark. >> the boy had been swim with his stepfather at the time of the attack. lifeguards closed off that section of the beach to see if the shark would swim back out to sea. the captain of the beach patrol says he hasn't seen a shark bite in neptune beach in 15 years. renounded animal expert, jack, says zoo keep nerves since that the did i the right thing saturday when they shot and killed a guerrilla dragging a four year old boy. the boy had fallen into the guerrilla enclosure, said on cbs this morning, tranquilizing the animal would have been too risky. as brian web reports, the entire ordeal was caught on camera. >> the little boy is barely visible under the guerrilla, 15 feet below his mother.
