>> from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia. this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". now on "eyewitness news" at noon, a sexual assault overnight in frankford has left two people injured with one woman in critical condition. good afternoon everyone i'm jim donovan. >> i'm brooke thomas. police still searching for the man responsible. they think it is a family member. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch has been following the story all morning, and he has the latest. >> reporter: behind crime scene tape a pratt street home that was in many ways a "house of horrors" overnight.

>> we believe two crimes were commit in the this house: a sexual assault of a 13 year old female and an aggravated assault of a 38 year old female. >> 911 calls dispatched 15th district officers to the scene, where they met that teen victim, covered in only a blanket, she told police, a male family member raped her, in her home's basement. >> she gave us a name, and she pointed out where she lived, and where it happened. >> police went to knock and got no answer. they saw moore once climb into rooftop and peering into second floor window. >> where they saw another female, laying in the second floor front bedroom, and the female was bleeding heavily from her face and her head and there was blood all over the bed. >> the teen's 38 year old mother beaten so badly she was missing teeth and first responders at first thought she had been shot. a barricaded subject call was made and swat officers went in to rescue her. she was taken to einstein. >> she was bleeding heavily,

she was semi-conscious, she was unable to talk. >> and so police continue to investigate this report of two assaults under one roof. that mother was taken to einstein for treatment. the teen was taken to st. christopher's for evaluation, police are hoping that surveillance cameras in this area may have captured that male suspect escape from that home and special victims is on the case as well. in frankford, justin finch, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". justin, that's awful. philadelphia police are planning an update at 1:00 p.m. on their investigation. so stay with cbs-3 "eyewitness news" for updates today at 5:00 and 6:00. search continues this noon for cause of memorial day fire at northeast philadelphia american legion post. this fire broke out just before 3:00 yesterday afternoon, on orthodox street bridesburg, veterans and families were there to observe memorial day, firefighter suffered a wrist injury, but no one else was hurt, all the

same, it was a frightening scene. >> windows came out, they had to move us back, back further down, from where we were, so it was horrible. >> the fire eventually reached four alarm, two nearby homes were evacuated during the fire, but no damage to the houses. sad news this afternoon, as the flyers announce one of their all time greats has passed away. >> team announced this morning that rick mccleesh died yesterday, he spent part of the 12 seasons with the flyers, including playing on both stanley cup winning teams in 74 and 75, he's off off the first flyer to score 50 goals in a season, rick mccleesh was 66 years old. well, the villanova wildcats will get the championship treatment today as they head to the white house, president obama will congratulate the basketball team for winning the national championship last month. he'll also recognize the wildcats forgiving back to the community. our lesley van arsdall headed to the white house with the wildcats for the special

ceremony, will be live later today on "eyewitness news". >> we could learn today if one of the teens charged in the death of delaware student lent go on trial as an adult, prosecutors want family court judge to transfer the case of 16 year old girl to superior court. authorities say amy joyner francis died after a beating in a rest room at howard high school of technology. they say the attack aggravate add pre-existing heart condition. >> fatally shot a gorilla to save a little boy who ended up inside his enclosure, boy was not hurt, and jamie juke as shows us that's because the rapid response team lived up to its name. cincinnati zoo officials say harambe was agitated and disoriented after encountered a child in his enclosure saturday. >> we did not take the shooting of harambe lightly but that child's life was in danger. >> zoo director doubled down on the decision to shoot the low land gorilla.

first 15 years of his life. >> was not mean. he was a gentle little guy, and an unforeseen circumstance was born and he had to lose. >> jamie yukas cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> news is growing to find who ever killed two dogs in chester by burning them in a plastic container. >> the dogs were found saturday night behind a house on west sixth street. now, animal welfare group justice rescue is offering $3,000 for information about the crime. >> investigators are still trying to figure out whether the dogs were alive before they were burned. >> police are looking for three suspect wanted for home invasion in delaware county. "eyewitness news" was here in prospect park, where police say three robbers were armed with a shotgun when they broke into a home on the 200 block of lafayette avenue. the homeowner suffered minor injuries, no details yet on what was taken. >> authorities are investigating the death after man who apparently fell from an overpass onto i95 in south philadelphia. chopper three, here, over

i-95, at columbus boulevard, near washington avenue, where the man fell about 9:30 this morning. police say he is about 40 years old, but his identity has not been released. traffic briefly shutdown, but the area is open again now. >> well, donald trump takes a detour from the campaign trail to address questions about his fundraising for veterans. >> trump has faced persistent to explain how much money was raided and where it went. correspondent kenneth craig report from new york. >> donald trump held a news conference as trump tear in new york city to answer questions about money he said he raised for veterans groups. the money has all been sent. i wanted to keep it prove fat we could i wanted to keep it private because i don't think it is anybody's business. >> the billionaire boasted about raising millions of dollars for veterans at a rally back in january. >> we just cracked $6 million, right, 6 million. >> but for month, details were vague about exactly how much was raised and which groups received the money.

thunder. he sat with actor danny glover. there is a week to go before the delegate risk california primary. sanders was met with some protests earlier in the day, but continues to press rival hillary clinton over the remaining delegates in the race. >> speaking every clinton, hillary and her husband former president bill clinton spent memorial day in their adopted hometown in new york, but now, hillary clinton has added more stops in california to keep up with sanders. she's called off a two day swing through new jersey to hold events in california from this thursday right after the state's primary june 7th. well, we'll have to wait a little longer for the details of the investigation into inapropriate emails found on pennsylvania state computer servers. solicitor general bruce castor has canceled today's news conference scheduled to announce preliminary results, he said the working draft was not comprehensive, attorney general kathleen kane ordered the review into what is being called offensive, raunchy, and

pornographic material. a teenage hike is her recovering after he was rescued from a waterfall in a north jersey park. police shared these pictures, the 17 year old was swinging from a tree when he landed on a rock which gave way and sent him falling into the waterfall at pal said state park in bergin county. he suffered internal injuries, and rescuers used a rope to get him to a boat then an ambulance. he's in hackensack university hospital now. >> clean up underway at chicago o'hare airport after taxi cab smashed through the glass door. travelers were sent scrambling as glass went flying, but police say no one was hurt. the driver did get a ticket for failing to reduce speed before the crash, the car jumped the curb at terminal three which houses american airlines, luckily no flights affected. >> back to work tomorrow for tens of thousands of striking verizon workers returning to their jobs after reaching tentative deal to ends six week long strike, almost 40,000 workers will get a raise, and verizon will also

hire more people to work at call centers. union members will vote on the deal after they go back to work. >> things got little wild in wildwood over the holiday weekend. >> officials say they had their hands full, dealing with some visitors behaving badly. wildwood's mayor condemned beach-goers who left beer cans, plastic cups, debris along 15-mile street of the beach. swallowed a pin. it happened on a party bus, she and friends headed to the prom. her date's butte near kept falling off so she tried to adjust it, put the thin her mouth, hold it, there and she laughed and inhaled it. >> some funny joke, and then i laughed, and it went down my throat, and i was just immediately started coughing. >> she said she didn't feel any pain. so they went to prom. she went to prom, you guys. but next day she ended upgoing to the hospital and x-rays show the pin was lodged in a bronchial tube. doctors were table remove it though with no problem. >> hey, she had the gown, he had the tux, can't waste the tickets. >> cannot waste those ticket, you're right. still ahead on "eyewitness news", kate bilo has the latest forecast. >> another warm day, feels like we catapulted right into mid summer, but temperatures will be dialed back a bit, as we head through the next few days, and in the midst of a sunny stretch. how long does it last? i'll tell when you we check

>> part of texas bracing for more severe flooding. sent lefts surge to go heights not seen in decades. at least six people have died in the floods, and several others are missing, area reviews over the houston area shows how dire the situation is there, and just miles and miles of lands. it is covered in water. well, fortunately, things have dried out here. kate bilo joins us now with a look at our forecast. kate? >> and after a soggy may, things have definitely improved today. that's right. we've got temperatures on their way up, finally, not adding another raindrop to the calendar. take a look how the month every may panned out. today the last day of the month as we know, and look at all of the raindrops. in fact, we were hard press today even string together two dry days, at least until this

past weekend, we finally had a four day stretch of dry weather, but your monthly precipitation total for the month of may so far, 6.65 inches, since may 1st, doesn't look like we will be adding to the total certainly today. that number makes it the tenth most wet may on record. hopefully that soggy pat certain done with us now, head into early summer on dry note. certainly the first days of june, looking fantastic. finally stringing together few sunny days, and not like the weaken where we casino of catapulted right into mid summer like weather, seeing things get dialed back couple of notches here, little more seasonable, so for your wednesday looking great, little cooler than today, temperatures in the low 80s, it is sunny, beautiful, high pressure overhead. this next front approaches on thursday, but it stays to the west. so, thursday looks like another great day. mostly sunny, highs in the upper 70s, and that's right where we should be this time of the year. but, that front eventually does move n generally friday afternoon, friday, few more clouds, temperatures still in the mid 70s, with showers and thunderstorms, the good news

is we'll clear that out, and we should have at least one dray day this weekend before unsettled pattern takes over sunday and monday. as far as the beach is concerned, down the shore this week, it is beautiful today. mostly sunny, nice, 72, water temperature, still a chilly 60 degrees, the uv index is nine, so this afternoon, make sure to slatter on that high spf. even after the morning fog and clouds things turning out a lot nice they are afternoon. today mostly sunny in the city, 87 degrees our daytime high. still almost 10 degrees above average, and mild tonight, as well, 65 and mainly clear, you will like this eyewitness weather seven day forecast, the next three days are beauties. 82 degrees on wednesday, 77 on thursday. looking fantastic with all that sunshine, and notice our overnight lows dropping a bit as well as some more comfortable dew points take over. so the humidity dropping, as well. friday, as we said, that's when the front comes through with showers and the chance for thunderstorm, at 76 degrees. saturday, looks good, dry start to the weekends, with mix of sun and clouds around
