southbound at route 42 all lanes are blocked, and they will be blocked until 6:00 a.m. they are saying that the detour will be exit 1c. brooke, over to you. >> thanks, meisha. new this morning a hit and run involving an off-duty philadelphia police officer end in gunfire. >> one went through window of temple hospital. "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabao is live at broad and tioga which is still an active scene, jan. >> jim and brooke, good morning. this is where that gunfire erupted on the broad and tioga streets. now there are a lot of unanswered questions this morning, it is unclear why this off tooth i officer opened fire in the way that he did. what we do know is that the altercation happened right here after the officer got in the car accident while on that motorcycle. you can see it is still taped off and on the scene here this morning. also still on the scene if you take a closer look at the video you can get a good look, shattered glass at outpatient facility at temple university hospital. one of the shots traveled and

pierced a window there. bullet ended up lodged in the wall behind a desk inside, fortunately no one was injured. this all happened after 11:00 last night. police say officer with the 22nd district had just gotten off work on his personal motorcycle when he got in the accident at broad and tioga here in north philadelphia, for some reason he shot five times at what investigators are calling the striking vehicle. that vehicle they say fled the scene. it had not been recovered this morning. off-duty officer was taken to temple for minor injuries, suffered during the car accident. he is expected to be okay. so still back out here live, a very active scene this morning and investigators say it is unclear what immediately led to the gun fire last night and again they have not recovered that striking vehicle this morning, initially, they were looking for a green older model, monte carlo but they say it is unclear how many people were inside and whether any of them were injured. this investigation, continues

"eyewitness news" was on the 2200 block of cecil b. moore avenue where police say black honda hit the female victim around 1:30 this morning. uber driver had just dropped off passengers and remained on the scene. police say it is unlikely charges will be file. police believe three juveniles may be responsible for the death of the elderly man in southwest philadelphia. the 77 year-old was found yesterday afternoon in the living room of his home on the 6300 block of theodore street. police say someone broke into the house, twice this weekend. >> there may have been a incident friday night where they may have gotten beat up by kid in the hospital. they broke in the house and

assaulted and injured and killed him. >> witnesses reported seeing three males leaving the house in the front door and locking it behind them. the man's work van is still missing. doctors say a baby with the birth defect linked to the zika virus has been born in hackensack medical center. the child has microcephaly an abnormally small brawn. mother is from honduras and got the virus there. meantime world health organization is saying zika virus lingers longer then first thought and urging people returning from areas where zika is found to practice safe sex or abstain for at least eight weeks, not four, and that was what was previously recommended. well, hillary clinton is curtailing her campaign in new jersey to focus more on california. the former secretary of state is in essex county, she cancelled tomorrow's appearance in mercer county. clinton is traveling to the golden state where bernie sanders is gaining momentum. sanders will campaign today in

bad news for resident in south east texas dealing with more flooding, more rain is coming. the water filled intersections trapping some drivers, prompting water rescues and fire truck was no match for rapidly rising water. the flooding has claimed at least six lives. in canada some of fort mcmurray residents are anxiously returning home after a massive wild fire forced them out a month ago. nearly 90,000 people had to leave their homes, some with just a few hours notice. the wild fires start made third, destroyed more than 2,000 homes and buildings. matter of fact, three neighborhoods are still off
