>> "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabao is live at the scene in north philadelphia with the new information, jan, what do we know right now. >> reporter: brooke and jim, good morning. we have new information for you. philadelphia police say they believe they have found the striking vehicle will involved in last night's hit and run accident. it was found across town. take a look a this video at the scene there on sixth and west cambria streets. this is fair hill section of philadelphia police say driver called police to turn himself in. they are securing that scene. the vehicle this morning. you can see it has front end damage. a chaotic course of events overnight. for some reason an off-duty officer opened fire on that car, a lot is still unclear but what we do know is that some sort of altercation happened right after the officer got hit, by that car, and while he was on his own personal motorcycle. now take a look at this video, a video where the accident happened in north philadelphia here on the scene of broad and

tioga street. a very busy area. you can see shattered glass at outpatient facility at temple university hospital here. as shots were fired late last night, one of those shots traveled a block and pierced window there. bullet ended up lodged in the wall behind a desk inside, fortunately in one was injured. all of this happened just after 11:00 last night, police say again that the officer was a between the second district had just gotten off work on his personal motorcycle when he got in the accident on the corner of broad and tioga in north philadelphia and for some reason police say he shot five times at the that striking vehicle. that vehicle they say fled the scene at the time. now off-duty officer was taken to temple for minor injuries suffered during the car accident. we are told he will be okay. this accident investigation is still ongoing. you can see that bike is still behind us on the scene this morning. investigators say it is unclear what immediately led

up to the gun fire last night and police say it is unclear if anyone was in that car was hurt but at this time, this morning, police now say that they have a scene across town in the fair hill section of the philadelphia taped off. they believe that carries the car involved in the hit and run late last night and that the driver called police to turn himself in. this is still a developing story, we will bring you more information, just as soon as we get it. we are live, jan carabao for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". jim and brooke, back to you. new this morning a deadly accident in north philadelphia involving an uber driver, police say the driver had just dropped off a passenger when he hit a woman with his car on the 2200 block of cecil b. moore avenue. the victim was rushed to hahnemann where she died around 2:00 this morning. the uber driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the police. a baby is born in new jersey with the birth defect linked to the zika virus. report from the hackensack medical center in bergen county said the child has microcephaly a abnormally

>> yes, i dab he will, and, i was just going to say today should be a good running day for sure. we are looking ahead to more sunshine then anything. we will be back at the month of may here as a total not necessarily the best running weather this past couple weeks but we had a nice stretch toward end of the month where we had more sun then anything until we have that tropical moisture that settled in for early part of this coming week, but now we're in the sunshine. we will continue to see it out there today. even though with less, it is currently post tropical sigh clean bonnie still spinning off carolina coastline. that will not impact us anymore. we have high pressure from the north keeping news more sun then anything. looking out towards the west, we can see well defined area of low pressure evolving and this cold front will cross through in the days ahead for our next shot for shower or thunderstorm but does not get her until later in the week. we have the sun all day, we expect mid 80's. union have a match this

police are investigating what happened over weekend at the cincinnati zoo. >> the saturday zoo officials fatally shot the gorilla named harambe to protect a three-year old boy who got in the animal's exhibit. police say boy's parent could be charged with child neglect. detectives are investigating events leading up to the shooting and animal rights activist say zoo should be fine. philadelphia zoo is a suring visitors that safety is their top priority, barriers have mesh on them so child that gets away from their parents for just a few minutes can't get through. philadelphia zoo officials believe cincinnati zoo handled the situation well, and they say that they are ready for anything. >> we have a gun trained team in an emergency situation like that where human life is at immediate and serious risk that at the end of the day we're prepared to respond in the same way. >> philadelphia zoo says that their workers will receive a

thinks where everything unfolded late last night on the busy corn over broad and tioga street but now action has moved to the different section of the city. take a look at this live video right now. police believe they have found the striking vehicle involved in last night's hit and run crash. this is at sixth and west cambria streets in the fair hill section of the city. police say the driver called early this morning to call himself in. they are securing that scene and vehicle this morning. you can see it has damage to the front end of the vehicle and one bullet hole in it. it was a very chaotic course starting with the hit and run crash involving an off-duty police officer and ending with him discharging his weapon. back out here live on the scene in north philadelphia you can see officers motorcycle remains on the scene this morning a lot is still unclear, unclear why this off-duty officer opened fire on that vehicle. what we do know is that there was some sort of an altercation that happened after the crash and while that

now know that police believe they have found that striking vehicle after the driver called into police and said that she was involved. this is a developing story. we will continue to follow it. we are live, jan carabao for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". back inside to you. police say three juveniles may be spotsible for murder of an elderly man inside his southwest philadelphia home. the 77 year-old died from severe head trauma a. he was found yesterday on the living room floor on his home on the 6300 block of though door street. police say someone broke in the man's home twice this weekend and his work van is still missing. chester county investigators are trying to solve mystery surrounding death of the woman found in the pond. on monday, someone found body tied to the cinder block floating on the surface of the pond in east coventry township. prosecutors say woman was dead when she was placed there. authorities are hoping jewelry and tattoos will help determine the victim's identity. still ahead a happy ending

since the holiday weekend left wildwood littered with trash officials are offering a incentive to keep their beaches clean. crowds left a 15-mile stretch of the beach a huge mess, and all cleaned up now but town officials are determined to keep that from happening ever again. volunteers who registered to take part in the beach clean up june 11th will get free passes to see an advanced screening of finding dori.

hurricane season is underway, the national ocean and atmospheric administration predicts ten to 16 named storms including four to eight hurricanes, we have already had two named storms, the conference this morning in cape may county will help you get ready for the next one by outlining resources before, during and after a storm. county's emergency management office is one of the sponsors. emergency preparedness conference is opened to the public this morning, for more this morning from 10:00 to noon at the avalon community center. katie, any idea how active a season we may see here in the delaware valley. >> as you had mentioned, jim, we have outlook from noah and generally that means it is a pretty average outlook all things considered we will recap that as again we said ten to 16 named storms, four of eight is a hurricane and one to four may become a major hurricane. category three or greater. what is interesting is the

of the state here in pennsylvania. 64 degrees. so yeah, no matter how you slice it we are off to a pretty mild start here. john flirting with 70 in philadelphia. it is a warm beginning to the day. as we go back then to storm scan, i believe that is next, yeah, we still have what is left of now post tropical cyclone bonnie sitting and spinning off the coast line. high pressure is nesting down for us here from canada keeping us in the sunshine well off to the west a new front scheduled to cross through on friday. we have basically two straight days of quiet weather until we have to deal again with more wet weather in the forecast. we will get to that in the seven day. i don't think we have had an a plus in 2016. i can't remember i don't recall that but regardless this is what i would call an a plus kind of a day because we don't have humidity. not as hot but still above average under the sunshine. looking good for those who have to head to work, not a bad excuse to dine outside.
