to their robbery and homicide division. students are understandably shaken up but will return for studying for finals. live from the sat center, greg argos for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". now back home and developing bullets fly outside a local hospital and we are hearing from a man caught in the middle of the gunfire. off-duty philadelphia police officer is one who started shooting after he was hit while riding a motorcycle. "eyewitness news" reporter joe holden is at police headquarters with more on how this all went down, joe. >> reporter: good evening. the lots of questions about this officer involved shooting, in north philadelphia, very late last night, and we are talking to the man he is telling his story, only to cbs-3 about being caught in the middle of all of this gunfire. >> right in front of my car he flew across, that is when i decided, this man is dead, he hit us hard. >> reporter: eduardo valleys say he and two others were picking up a friend when a met or cycle will collided with his green monte carlo at broad

and tioga man was thrown off. it turns out he was an off-duty officer from the 22nd district. what happened next velez says something out of the wild west. >> popped out, point the the gun and shoots right inside of the car. is what wrong with you, we have to take off, i cannot stop there will you kill me. >> reporter: police say unidentified office who are got off work drew his weapon after sensing danger. >> when he gets up to approach the vehicle, he believes that someone is pulling a weapon, he discharges his service revolver or service weapon five times. >> reporter: by this time that green monte carlo left the scene. police say five shots discharged by the officer struck and nearby window at the hospital. nobody was hit. eduardo velez says he returned home not knowing the man who allegedly shot at him was a police officer. >> i look at the news and said there was an accident. i said hey that was me. i will call to give my statement. >> reporter: eduardo says he wasn't arm. he and the three other men with him have all provided

statements to police. >> i pushed the guy right inside window. i had to take off, then he just opened fire, bang, bang. >> reporter: do you remember him say anything. >> when we heard first shots it was time to go. >> reporter: that officer was treated at temple university hospital for injuries, sustained, in that motorcycle crash. his status is unknown at this point. the entire officer involve shooting remains under investigation, and no charges filed, on either side of this matter. reporting live tonight outside round house i'm joe holden for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". a $20,000 reward is offered in the homicide of the southwest philadelphia man. seventy-eight year-old joseph daily was found dead inside his home on theodore street on tuesday. police say that he had been beaten, and strangled, likely by a group of kid, that targeted him previously on friday night. police say that the suspect's made off with his blue ford van and has a pennsylvania tag, td5338 z.

we believe that somebody in the neighborhood, knows who did this, and we need them to contact our unit so we can make an arrest and get them off the street. >> reporter: police found daily on tuesday after his son, called police to check on him. one person is dead and another wounded following a shooting in reading, berks county. those shots were fired at the getty mart convenience store on west greenwich street at 1:00 this morning. police identified victim as 49 year-old karl walker. second victim is expected to make a full recovery. detectives are looking into what led to that shooting. no arrests have been made. prosecutors in the murder case against retired pro wrestler jimmy super fly snuka hit a legal setback. pennsylvania judge ruled that the seven three-year old was mentally incompetent to stand trial. he was charged last september in the 1983 death of his then girl friend. the judge says that she does in the believe that snuka a is capable of faking dementia

rain, moving toward gwynedd, east norriton on the edge of the heavy rainfall and this cell here just sitting over same area over past several minutes. that is prompting a flood advisory for that location. so just heads up in parts of the southern montgomery county until 7:30 there could be fast rising the water and smaller streams and creeks in that area. doppler estimated, already up to three-quarters to 1 inch of rain, quickly from that little cell. eventually it will kill itself out and we will see dry air conditions. that is about it as far as rainfall, this evening, quiet pattern shaping up for next 24 hours. watch what happens, low pressure remnants of the bonnie, stays well to the south and east over the next few days, here comes a cold front well to the west tomorrow, so we will enjoy some sunshine, pleasant temperatures, thursday night, friday, couple showers trying to get in here, it will not be a big deal friday. i wouldn't cancel outdoor plans just yet, especially in the morning that is our best shot for shower as a cold front moves through and that dries us out for start of the weekend. today is june 1 so that kicks

off the atlantic hurricane season officially but we have had two name storms. latest tropical satellite showing very quiet conditions over the far, eastern and central atlantic but some activity shaping up across the caribbean, in the western atlantic, nothing tropical but we have disturbed weather. that is area we have to focus on in early june when we get main tropical development in early season down toward caribbean and gulf of mexico. as far as the the atlantic hurricane season goes, peak is not until september, september , pretty quiet for most part in early june. we will wait and see what happens. temperatures tomorrow, nice, right around 80 degrees. seventy's along the shore. that is trend into friday as well, weekend, warmer as we head into saturday. a ridge in the jet stream, holds warmth on saturday, feels like summer, more humid, and humidity and warm temperatures wait until next week. we have a shot of cooler air, nothing cold but that may drop a couple degrees we low average, next week.
